Character Details
Veruca may be a bad person, but if anything, her loyalty would never come into question as long as someone holds her interest. There are times where she's often mothering, using that to her wills and whims, twisting words and ideals to benefit the cause or herself. She can see reason, but chooses to go her own way or the way that would piss the person off the most. She's able to sit down and debate with a person without coming to blows, hardly ever losing her cool.
Reflective Teleportation |
Veruca can teleport through any reflective surfaces. Water, glass (her favorite), blood, anything that casts a reflective surface, and it has to be big enough for her to step through. As long as a person could see themselves in it, there's a chance that Veruca can travel to and through that surface, especially due to the psychic connection she has with the creation of portals. There is a not a whole lot of preparation that goes into this. First, she channels the energy to create a portal upon the reflective surface, and simply wills herself to that location. The only draw back is, she has to be within the same city limits in which she travels in. Since the portals she creates are through reflective surfaces, she has the beginning.. which is where she stands, and the end, which is what she sees through the reflective surface. |
Speed |
Veruca is inhumanely fast. She's quick enough to run at burst speeds ranging up to 40mph for a short distance. This isn't something she can keep up for a while, but lets call it creepy stalker speeding through a room to avoid being seen type of fast. |
Strength |
Veruca is strong enough for someone with her build. She can lift at least two grown men at once and hurl them at great distances. However, the true power lies within her legs. She's able to jump high enough to scale a five story building. She's even able to leap across buildings with little to no effort at all. This possibly attests to her speed as well. |
Duplication |
Along with her reflective teleportation, she's able to duplicate herself many times over. The most she's ever done is 15 copies by using reflective surfaces, and it requires a small amount of concentration and preparation. The host body is always going to be an original, and her copies can be taken down if you take out the host body. But Veruca is smart. She'll create and often watch from a distance, using one of her copies to act as a figure-head while she remains behind the scenes, using mirrors and glass (reflective surfaces) to watch her work unfold. The copies are lesser versions of her, and can be easily done away with by a hard pierce, life threatening slice, or by breaking the glass. (Picture a brick through the window, if a person hits that hard, she'll shatter.) |
Through The Looking Glass |
Veruca possesses a psychic connection with portals, such as, she can discern whether a portal or surface is stable enough to travel or look through. For instance, if someone attempts to scry her location and connects to an area where she's in, she gets hints, feelings of being watched. If she tunes in on that feeling and concentrates, she can hone in on the surface from where she's being spied from and form a psychic connection with said portal to either communicate or travel through. This also is reversed, but she can only be in the same city and have at least a visual or the name of the person that she wishes to spy on to actually track them down. |
Resistant To Magic |
Veruca is basically a null. Even though she herself 'appears' to perform magic by crossing through reflective surfaces, magic being done to her.. bounces off. It doesn't stick to the wielder, it just goes. It only takes a person with the most powerful of magic to effect her, however, people possessing such otherworldly magics go few and far in between. |
Sadist |
Veruca uses sadism to her advantage. She can stomach the most horrid, the most vile, and dish it back without being affected. She has a strong stomach for violence, as well as the inhumane acts of man and meta-human alike. She can dish it, she can take it, and she'll wallow in it. |
Resources & Disguises |
Veruca is a resourseful woman. She has many aliases and contacts, but they all follow a pattern according to her real name. She's also able to disguise herself really well, changing her hair color and the overall look of herself, by toning down on the colors, manner of dress, and accent. |
Multilingual |
Due to her criminal activities, Veruca had no choice but to learn a wide variety of languages. French, English, Russian (her mother tongue), Japanese, Cantonese, Mandarian, Farsi and even Hindi. There are some words that she still cannot translate to English, but through music, she knows more than enough to get by. Sometimes, it doesn't even make sense to the listener, but if someone is multilingual, they can figure it out. |
True Form |
Her true form is ghastly. When exerting her powers to her limits and beyond, Veruca takes on the form of a spectre. Her eyes turn viciously black, shards of glass protrude from her skin, the skin surrounding the glass becomes ripped, torn and bloody. The downside to this is a huge energy drain, so her true form would only be used to her benefit or as a means to scare. Her duplicates are able to take on this look as well, but with as much power going into this visage, more is taken out of her, leaving her only with an hour to get to a safe place until she becomes unresponsive and near catatonic. |
Mixed Fighting Style |
Veruca is a fighter to be reckoned with. She knows a range of styles from Northern Style Shaolin Kung-Fu, Silat, Jeet Kun Do. She's even studied Taiho-Jutsu under her time with the Yakuza, and boxing from a well known Golden Gloves contender. She's able to mix these styles, becoming a wild card in the fighting verse. But her most favorite is boxing, she incorporates this way of fighting along with dirty tactics and tricks in order to try to get the upper hand. With Veruca, there is no fair fight. |
It's Mine Now |
With Veruca's psychic connection to portals, she's able to connect to a portal that is not her own making. While she can't tell where one is, but if it's right there in front of her? She can ride the ride and take it off course. For instance, if someone creates a portal into hell, she can jump into it, alter the course, but she cannot tell or know where she will end up. While she can try to direct and determine so that she'll come out on the other end in tact, she realizes the only control she has in portal jumping into someone elses creation is in the landing. |
They Call Me Mr. Glass |
Veruca has always been searching for that /one/. That one that would make her dreams come true, that polar opposite. The one who could be her complete rival. She feels by doing this, she'll pair up with anyone who could do the most harm, the most damage, and who could possibly push her to her limits. This obsession with finding her equal upon the opposite side is very unhealthy, and can be used against her in a number of ways, especially put a damper on plans and choices that she makes. |
Obsessions |
Veruca has an unhealthy obsession with villany. If she finds the perfect person that can do wrong, in her eyes they are king. She sets herself to be a follower, doing their every whim until the very end. But she is smart enough to know when things will fail, and will often betray the person with whom she is following. Her obsession puts her at a bad side, gaining twice as more enemies than necessary. |
International Criminal Profile |
Veruca is a wanted woman. She's wanted in various countries due to illegal and terrorist acts. Murder, coercion, jury tampering, kidnapping, intimidation, larceny. There could be more. Either way, a proper search on her could bring up her face and many crimes that she's done on databases across the world. Which is probably bad for business. |
Foreigner |
This is Veruca's first time truly in America, which puts her at a social disadvantage. She doesn't know much about manners, popular culture, and driving on the right side of the street. She doesn't even know the laws, and probably doesn't care. But it does put her at a disadvantage. |
True Body True Form |
Often times, Veruca uses her reflective, duplicating abilities to travel. She needs to have a full body mirror nearby to duplicate herself. In direct confrontation, she hides herself and lets her duplicate do all the work, allowing the copy to take her own so that her real, true self cannot be harmed. This is a disadvantage for her, because whenever she copies herself, a lesser form of herself takes place. The copies also drains her of energy, so she needs a lot of time to recooperate, to regain the strength that she once had to function normally. This allows her to take greater risks than she would if she were in her normal body. But if she's damaged while her copies are on the loose, the injury would be considerably 2x's worse than normal. |
Shelf Life |
There's an expiration date when it comes to making a duplicate. They or it can only be sustained for a certain amount of time before the energy that it takes to create them need to be returned to it's source. The amount of duplicates increases this need. For instance, one copy can last for a total of three days before it simply shatters to glass or disappears. If she maxes out, the copies only have mere hours before there's a need to return to the source. |
