Reputation Gambit isn't known by the public. Officials may or may not have him on record depending on where he is and what he's done to earn recognition there. Amongst the underworld element Gambit is a reputable thief of great renown who can get in to and out of almost anything. Biography *Born in or around New Orleans and abandoned in a hospital Remy's distinctive eyes caught attention of the Antiquary. A local boogeyman and shadowy figure of the Louisiana Underground. *Prophesized to be the "Diable Blanc" by superstitious Guild members and the Antiquary himself it was arranged for the young mutant to be kidnapped and placed under the watchful eyes of the Thieves Guild. *So begins a street urchin upbringing amongst a band of children-thieves called Fagan's Mob. *Remy meets a young Assassin named Belladonna, daughter of Marius Boudreax, leader of the Assassins Guild. *Remy steals from Jean-Luc LeBeau, the leader of the Thieves Guild and soon become indoctrinated in as a junior member himself, getting adopted by LeBeau as his own son. Mutant powers begin to manifest. *A failed pinch results in the death of his cousin, Etienne Marceaux. Remy meets the immortal Candra for the first time. Also the first time Remy would use a playing card as a weapon. *First contact with a mysterious benefactor. A failed job that involved Weapon X. *Tracts of Passage: Transpiring events result in the death of a "fling" at the hands of Sabertooth. A choice he had to make between her life and his adopted brother Henri LeBeau. *In an arranged ceremony to unify the Guilds Remy marries Belladonna. On this day he duels Julien Boudreax, his wife's brother. Remy lives, Julien doesn't. A judgment between the two guilds is passed and Remy is banished becoming an exile. *Remy's solo career begins as a thief, mercenary and bounty hunter. His travels take him from the U.S., all over Europe, Japan and even Madripoor. He eventually ends up spending time in a South American prison and develops a rap sheet with INTERPOL. *During this nomadic period Gambit's powers become unstable and he is introduced once again to a "friend", a genetics expert and scientist, the man who would "help" him. *Becoming his new employer's own personal thief he picks up work again for the evil scientist and even joins the Marauders. *The Morlock Massacre takes place, Gambit is left for dead after refusing to partake in a pre-planned slaughter but manages to save one Morlock child. *A new Gambit takes to the road, a modern day Robin Hood with a desire for redemption that will ultimately lead him to the X-Men.

Character Details Personality A charming devil-may-care rogue with a heart of gold. He can be rebellious and sarcastic which eludes to his darker side that mainly stems from a troubled past and the connected guilty conscious. Abilities Bio-Kinetically Charged Due to the nature of his powers Remy is constantly charged with the ambient kinetic energy he manipulates. It acts as an accelerate to his own body as well granting him a form of enhanced (not superhuman) agility and speed and that can affect even objects he throws (granting them increased range and velocity). Excess kinetic energy around him also projects a personal shield of sorts that blankets his mind from psychic detection and even intrusion. To a telepathic scan Gambit appears as an invisible and unreadable static "blip" on the radar. He is just not there. This /psi-kinetic-interference/ also destabilizes touch based powers to a limited extent. Being a fulltime energy conduit also makes him a tad more durable than a base-line human as well. (Benchmark: 7) Kinetic Energy Acceleration and Manipulation Gambit has the ability to "agitate" or convert potential energy in to hyper-charged kinetic energy. He can convert and accelerate existing potential energy of an object to kinetic energy then cause it to destabilize and explode with vast amounts of concussive force. The amount of damage output and explosive reaction is dependent on how long Remy has physical contact with the item in question and what duration he has super-charged it for. Flesh contact is required. (Benchmark: 7-9 General usage/ Maximum output 11) Low-Level Empath Perhaps Gambit's secondary mutation or simply just a bi-product of his kinetic manipulation powers LeBeau is a limited ability psionic empath that can hypnotically charm, persuade or influence sentient beings (like the Jedi Mind Trick). The strong-willed, highly disciplined, more capable psionics or those possessing of great mental fortitude are usually not susceptible. Gambit can also sense and pick up on emotional signatures of those he has bonded to, however, the range of this sensory awareness is fairly localized. (Benchmark: 3 initially but degrades) Martial Arts Expert A talented combatant Remy can hold his own and even contend with some of the more amazing fighters out there. He is experienced and well-educated in Savate, Karate, Parkour, Acrobatics and Street Fighting. (Benchmark: 4) Master Thief Gambit possesses a diverse range of talents that all round down to one singular end result: the acquisition of another individuals assets. He is a silvery tongued con-artist, a card sharkin' street magician, a pick pocket, a locksmith, an escapologist, a stealthy urban-ninja, and a security specialist with a nod worthy grasp of computer systems. Remy LeBeau is the epitome of a modern era charming rogue who has very few peers in this world or even the next. (Benchmark: 4-6) Weapon Specialist Gambit has truly exceptional skill with the bo-staff and thrown weapons. He is a marksman of the highest caliber and can use all manner of projectiles with amazing accuracy. He is even a talented competitive Fencer and Duelist. As an extension of his martial talents he is extremely well-versed in the weapon exercises and violent application of Bojutsu. (Benchmark: 5 melee 6 ranged) Advantages Charming and Connected Travel tends to have it's perks aside from just being a worldly spirit, especially when you're as influential and debonair as Gambit. You make friends, these friends can usually get you things, info drop on you, hook you up with jobs and even back you up should you need it or simply give you a warm place to lay low. Gambit's adventures thus far have earned him a fair share of comrades he can count on when the chips are down. He has a black market dealer and information broker named Fence (who secretly works for the Thieves Guild) and the Thieves Guild itself still in some limited degree. Outfitted Gambit wears a customized highly articulated light body armor that is resilient enough to withstand /some/ small arms fire. His trench coat is added protection and contains plenty of hidden compartments for concealed objects such as throwing spikes, several bolas, a lock pick set, playing cards (of course) and a few other odds and ends. Gambit's telescoping staff is sturdy very durable metal that can lock in place at segmented points from an eight inch rod to a six and a half foot bo. (Benchmark: 4) Successful Scoundrel Money isn't really a concern for Gambit. He doesn't steal because he needs to he steals because he enjoys the challenge and he has bit of a problem. As it stands Gambit is wealthy enough to write a 3$ million dollar check without breaking his bank. Needless to say he has a small fortune. X-Men Although he missed out on the whole school gig aspect of the X-Men he is a member. Despite his loner attitude and his round about way of assisting the team Gambit is in for the long haul and he intends to make himself useful. He has determined their mission is one that will help him with his own penance. Disdvantages Exiled The past doesn't always remain the past. His dual exile from the now Unified Guilds of Louisiana doesn't exactly make business easy for him. He's got both enemies and allies amongst their ranks and any encounter with the entire organization is prone to end up ugly or at the very least dramatic. Especially if they're Assassins. Honorable Rogue Gambit does refuses to kill and he has learned to be selective about his marks. He doesn't steal from those in need and will not take on a job or contract that puts the innocent in harms way. Life of Crime Gambit has warrants in several locations around the world. A thief doesn't get good without a few mistakes along the way. Warrants might still be floating around in several states and even other countries. Shrouded Past Remy doesn't like to disclose much about his previous life. Some of those secrets he'd prefer to just forget himself and bury away in a deep dark abysmal trench no one would ever dare delve in to. His activities involving the Morlocks or Marauders in particular. Addictive Personality Gambit has all the clinical defined trigger points and markers for an addictive personality; impulsivity, a tolerance for deviance and even the occasional mood swing. Remy's vices are rather hefty when put to scale. Smoking, gambling, thrill-seeking, drinking and womanizing are all part of his lifestyle, habits and charm. At times this can even nudge him towards the side of greedy - he is a thief after all. Physical Mutation: Unnatural Eyes Remy LeBeau was born with red irises on black sclera. This is an obvious stigma that signifies the presence of an activate "X-Gene". Survivor's Guilt Gambit's involvement with the Mutant Massacre to this day still haunts him and was a horrible yet pivotal life changing event that very much left it's mark. The faces of victims still plague Remy's dreams and nightmares acting as a constant reminder of where bad choices can and have lead him. This new form of motivation has pushed his natural recklessness to levels of self-sacrifice and daring that are borderline suicidal. Mimic X-Men X-Men, recruiter and a crazy man from another dimension. Knows too much and that's unnerving but seems like a decent sort. Magik Petit Diable X-Men, spooky young woman with a power over the supernatural. Gives me the creeps but is good to know powerful people, right? Right. Rogue Associate Met in a dark place, shared a kiss that knocked this guy out of his world (for weeks), stuck the poor woman with a demon. Probably wants to kill me now. Rune Associate Another of them magical supernatural sorts that make the skin tingle'n'crawl but hasn't tried to kill me, so that is good. Psylocke X-Men Kind of a bitch. Notes *Remy is bi-lingual and speaks English and French Cajun. His accent tends to bounce depending on his state of awareness, mood and how lazy he is being or not. He also speaks very bad Japanese. *Remy has a great singing voice. *Gambit's favorite cards are the Joker and the Ace of Spades. He is also quite adept at interpreting Tarot. *Remy is superstitious. *His favorite football team is the Saints. His favorite artist is M.C. Escher and he enjoys Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Star Trek. *Gambit may be related to Mister Sinister and the Summers.
