Claim to Fame
Oliver Queen is an American business magnate, investor, and philanthropist. Like Harry Osborn, Tony Stark, and Bruce Wayne, he was born with a silver spoon in his mouth. Despite this, it was a rocky start, but after a multiyear island getaway, he's grown and matured into a far better man.
Reputation
As the Green Arrow, Oliver strikes fear into the hearts of criminals. He is rarely seen in daylight, meaning his uniform blends into the background. Sometimes all they can see is a pair of white orbs, his eyes reflecting the moonlight just as the head of his arrow might. He is a vigilante, a criminal, but the good and decent people know that they have nothing to fear from him. He is their protector. He stands for the 99%.
Biography
Oliver Jonas Queen may not have been born on that island, but it's where he became the man he is today. Before he was stranded, he had been nothing more than a spoiled rich kid. He had lived a charmed life. He dated models. He had no responsibilities. He existed, but he contributed nothing to society.
On the island, he had to leave all of that behind. There were no comforts on the island, no five star hotels, and no room service. He barely got by. There were times when his life was almost snuffed out. But he survived. He learned about himself, what he was capable of, some he liked, and some he didn't.
After his rescue, it took him a while to adjust. It's not just a matter of getting used to sleeping in a bed. He had to learn not to be on guard at every moment. In truth, he never really did get over that. He's still guarded. But at least he can open up a little bit, share some of himself with others.
He created the Green Arrow, became a hero, although he's always considered himself more of a hunter. Eventually, he collected some likeminded individuals who would help him in his endeavours. Some of them have worked out and become lifelong friends, but others didn't go so well. He has his regrets. He's far from perfect. In the end, he's just man trying to do good, one deed at a time.

Character Details
Oliver is a swashbuckler at heart. He's rescued his fair share of damsels and he's foiled many a dastardly deed. He is dashing and daring. His courage knows no bounds. And he genuinely cares about people. He has a cavalier attitude and would not look out of place next to the Three Musketeers, Scarlet Pimpernel, Robin Hood, or Zorro. If there's one drawback, it's that he has an eye for the ladies. After all, there's nothing wrong with looking.
He stands up for the tired, the poor, and the huddled masses yearning to breathe free. He cares about the environment, and will defend it. If the person responsible for an environmental disaster disappears, he will hunt that person down and bring them to justice. If the police can't handle a situation, he will. He's willing to kill in self-defence. Otherwise, he will only kill if he has studied the evidence and judged it to be appropriate.
He's comfortable with that. He can make the hard choices. He doesn't lose sleep over them. But the worry he does have is that one day, he might make a mistake. What if he killed someone who he later found out was innocent? What if he made a mistake? Until it happens, he will continue to sleep well. When it finally does, it will devastate him. He'd crawl inside of a bottle, throw himself at the social scene, and may never recover. Not on his own anyway.
He may come across as a dedicated professional. He is charming. He's a gentleman. A white knight if you will. But that's just on the surface. He has his faults. He's a ladies' man. He's a womanizer. He's struggled with relationships, even though all he wants is to settle down and be faithful. Once, he lived the social scene. Nowadays, if he does it, it's more of an act. But that life appealed to him, and he could lose himself in it again.
All he knows for certain is that he is, at his core, a good man. When his time is up, he'll have left this world a better place than when he came into it. And that may be why he continues to be Green Arrow. As long as he fights crime and battles injustice, he'll stay ahead on that cosmic scale.
Archery |
Oliver is a master archer. In this, he has had few equals, among the living, or the deceased. He can do things with a bow and arrow in real time that can only be replicated by a movie studio's special effects department. He has never met his equal, though many have tried. One day, he may meet his match. |
Cooking |
Oliver likes to cook. His culinary creations are rarely enjoyed by anyone but himself. His Chili recipe is particularly spicy. Thus far, he and Batman have proven to be the only people who have sampled it and not screamed in pain. |
Deduction |
Oliver is clever. He is a problem solver. He's a polymath, if a largely self- taught one. He's observant, he sees things that others miss. He can piece together the clues of a puzzle. In combat, he often has thought one, two, or even three steps ahead of his enemies. And it all comes from simple deductive reasoning. Whether he's trying to solve a crime, survive a battle, or serve Queen Consolidated, deduction reasoning will invariably see him through it. |
Driving |
Oliver is an expert driver. Cars, trucks, motorcycles, helicopters, planes, boats, and submarines, if it has an engine, he can drive it, and more than likely, he can make it do some things that it was never designed to. |
First Aid |
Oliver is an capable field medic. He can tend to most of his own injuries, and is just as good with others. Most of them don't have his tolerance for pain, but if it works for him, it will usually work for them too. He knows a little about poisons, though sometimes he will have to call in a true expert. |
Fitness |
Oliver is in peak physical condition. He can reflexively dodge arrows, catch darts in mid air, and evade gunfire. He partakes in an intensive regimen of physical training to maintain his fitness levels. But he is still only human. |
Hunting |
Oliver is a hunter, not a hero. It's easy to mistake one for the other. But he will always be a hunter, first and foremost. He is at his best when he is tracking someone, or something. He can move quietly, through the brush, and through the concrete jungle. He will keep the shadows, avoid being seen, using the same skills to serve his city, as he did to survive on the island. |
Improvisation |
Oliver doesn't just think outside of the box, he's not even aware that there is a box. He's responsible for the design and manufacture for most of his gadgets, including his assortment of trick arrows. But don't let the money fool you. It helps, but he can survive without it. He is ingenious. Once, he made a bow and several arrows using materials borrowed from a hotel room. |
Interrogation |
Oliver has cultivated an intimidating presence. By now, his reputation precedes him. He needs only to nock his bow to place any potential target into a state of panic. They know that barring an unforeseen circumstance, he will be placing that arrow wherever he wants. When you have a reputation like Green Arrow, nobody cares about the 'good cop'. The 'bad cop' has it. |
Martial Arts |
Oliver has a unique fighting style. It is based on Eskrima, Hapkido, Jujitsu, Wing Chun, and a fair amount of improvisation. He uses his bow during close combat, both at point blank range, and as a makeshift club. He is a dirty fighter and fights to win. There is no silver medal for finishing second. |
Multilingual |
Oliver can speak, read, write, and even think in both English and Mandarin. English was his first language, but his Mandarin is so good that when his appearance isn't a factor, such as when he speaks on the telephone, he can convince Chinese nationals to believe that he is a native speaker as well. He can also speak Arabic, French, German, Hindi, Japanese, Russian, and Spanish. |
Parkour |
Oliver likes to travel from A to B in the most efficient way possible. Sometimes, this involves free running across rooftops, propelling across zip- lines, and going over, around, under, or even through obstacles. Traffic permitting, he's fast enough to run down someone on a motorcycle in a city. |
Perception |
Oliver is extremely perceptive. His senses are far better attuned than is the human norm. He can listen through the ambient noise, notice targets, tell when he's being lied to, find things that were meant to stay hidden, and a whole host of other things. He doesn't miss much. But he's still, only human. |
Subterfuge |
Oliver is a master of subterfuge. He look someone in the eye and tell them a falsehood as if it were truth, and he can do that while hooked up to a polygraph. The machine will only pick up a slight flutter. It's through lies and deception that he has been able to preserve his secret identity. |
Will |
Oliver is one stubborn son of… business magnate. He does not concede. He does not let up. He does not back down. He may be killed, but he will never be defeated. He is indomitable. He could wield a Green Lantern's Ring of Power, if he had the opportunity. He will fight through pain, broken ribs, internal bleeding, infections, contusions, abrasions, and anything else you might care to dream up because he has an extremely high tolerance of pain. |
Arrowboat |
Oliver adventures on the seas with his Arrowboat. Shaped like an arrow, this speedboat is unusually fast, manoeuvrable, and durable, with numerous gadgets inlaid throughout. He does not make much use of this boat, but he has it. |
Arrowcar |
Oliver adventures on the land with his Arrowcar. Designed with an arrow motif, this sports car is unusually fast, manoeuvrable, and durable, with numerous gadgets inlaid throughout. He rarely uses this car, but he has it. |
Arrowcycle |
Oliver also adventures on the land with his Arrowcycle. Unlike his other vehicles, the Arrowcycle is not designed with an obvious arrow motif. They're more like accents. At first glance, his motorcycle wouldn't look out of place next to any other motorcycle. But his is faster, more manoeuvrable, and durable than a standard model. It has a few gadgets built in as well. When patrolling, he most frequently uses the Arrowcycle. It's the least obvious. |
Arrowcave |
Oliver has a base of operations that he calls the Arrowcave. It's been pointed out to him that it is a poor moniker, and 'the Quiver' was suggested as a replacement, which he is considering. But for now, he actually has a couple of Arrowcaves, each one located somewhere in a major city. These Arrowcaves have gadgets, computer equipment, weapons, clothes, money, medicine, everything he might need to adventure. If he can get to one of his Arrowcaves, no matter what the situation is, he's probably going to be okay. |
Arrowplane |
Oliver adventures in the air with his Arrowplane. Again, this vehicle bears an arrow motif. It is an unusually fast, manoeuvrable, and durable jet. It has all the bells and whistles, but he rarely makes any use of this aircraft. |
Queen Consolidated |
Oliver's wealth is tied to Queen Consolidated. He has some money of his own, in his own name, but that would dry up pretty fast if he ever lost control of Queen Consolidated. It is one of the world's largest companies, with holdings from Vancouver to Melbourne, and everywhere in between. In short, he's rich. |
Sherwood Florist |
Oliver owns a chain of flower shops called Sherwood Florist. The name is a play on his Robin Hood motif. Some of them are mundane, while others house Arrowcaves, or his apartments above. He's even been known to work a shift. |
Uniform |
Oliver's uniform consists of a mask, hood, jacket, gauntlets, pants, and boots. It does not restrict his freedom of movement, but only provides him a limited protection against injuries. There is some padding there to cushion blows, there's some resistance to abrasions, but a bullet is still going to penetrate it. He's considered wearing Kevlar and other similar materials, but hasn't found one that doesn't restrict his movements and he's fast and smart enough to dodge bullets… some of the time. He's still working on that. |
Voice Filter |
Oliver uses a device to filter his voice, making it undetectable to the naked ear, and difficult for a computer to identify it as the voice of Oliver Queen. He has a similar application built into Green Arrow's mobile phone. |
Weaponry |
Oliver uses a variety of bows (compound, cross, long, recurve), arrows (acetylene torch, acid, anchor, anti-missile, antler, aqua-lung, avalanche, bait, balloon, bazooka, battering ram, billiard, blackout, blade, bloodhound, bola, boomerang, boxing glove, buzz saw, cable… the list just goes on), and knives. He can fire a gun, and he's willing to kill, but it's not his style. |
Cavalier |
Oliver has a cavalier attitude. He is passionate when morality, ethics, and justice are concerned, but he doesn't sweat the small stuff. He can seem aloof, uncaring. To him, its trivial. Some of this comes from his upbringing, that he wanted for nothing as a child, but he can come across as dismissive. |
Contrarian |
Oliver thinks for himself. This usually pits him on the wrong side of popular opinion. In fact, the more prevalent the popular opinion, the more he questions it. When everybody thinks the same way, he questions it. He might ultimately agree with them, but he takes the time to study it for himself. |
Green Arrow's Chili |
Oliver's chilli recipe is not well regarded. It's been described as paint remover. It's one of the spiciest foods known to the superhero community. Thus far, Batman is the only one, other than Oliver, who has been able to consume it without screaming in pain. Whenever someone tries it for the first time, they usually give him a wide berth for the foreseeable future. Few ever try it a second time. But naive heroes like to try it to test themselves. |
Humanity |
Oliver is human. He bleeds. He breathes. He can't tolerate extreme temperatures. He has no powers. Only skill. And he chooses to spend his days fighting alongside, and against, people who don't have his limitations. It's wonderful that he can hold his own against people who have advantages that he can't buy. But it's also dangerous. He knows his limits, but he doesn't care. |
Righteous Indignation |
Oliver likes a cause. He stands up for those who aren't strong enough to stand up for themselves. Hunger, poverty, discrimination, a woman's right to choose, healthcare, he is as liberal as they come. He lives to fight injustice, righting wrongs, and singing songs, just like his hero, Robin Hood. When coupled with stubbornness, he can be a pain in the backside. |
Rogue's Gallery |
Oliver has made enemies. Some of them are Oliver Queen's enemies, but most are after the Green Arrow. A few of them dislike him by association, such as the Justice League's enemies of those of the Arrow family. These people make his life interesting, though he'd be happy to try being bored to tears. |
Secret Identity |
Oliver has shared his identity with a precious few. He wears a mask and a hood. He filters his voice. He'll go to extreme lengths to protect his anonymity, not for himself, or his fortune, but for the people who might be hurt if it were revealed. He has enemies who wouldn't hesitate to go after the innocent people who know and love Oliver Queen. He hides to protect them. |
Vigilante |
Oliver is a vigilante. He is judge, jury, and sometimes executioner. He routinely breaks the law. He is just, but he takes responsibilities upon himself that should be reserved for those who have been chosen to fulfil them. Sometimes, the establishment is on his side. Some of them agree with him. But sometimes, they don't. Sometimes, they want to take him down. |
