This time, Nancy has come prepared. She has a bag slung over one shoulder and isn't in her PJs for the trip out. She leans on the trunk of the car as you walk out the door.

"You heard them. I'm allowed out but you have to keep an eye on me." Pleather pants, high heeled boots and a t-shirt that says C:\DOS C:\DOS\RUN Run\DOS\Run along with a vest over it left open to show off the t-shirt.

*

YBobby smiles, leaning on the door of his car when she comes out.

"Looking very nice. Packed for an evening out I see." He smiles. "I don't think I'll have any trouble at all keeping an eye on you Nan. Really, I almost laughed when he asked. I'd do that for you anyway."

He goes around and opens the door for her. "So, where to? My flat or somewhere in particular?"'

*

Nancy grins and … is that a blush. Nah. "You behave," she says, chastising him though it doesn't seem too serious. She slips into the car and thinks. "Well, I really should go and see Parti and Jeri, but… I think I want one more night of just being free. No responsibilities, just… out. But first, to the corner store cause I haven't made any lollies in a while and I've run out of candy." She smirks and leans back. "You know, I'm glad I picked the name Deadzone before I met you guys. You so would have code named me Candy or Sweet Tooth or Lollipop Goth or something stupid."

*

“Candy Goth?" Bobby suggests with a smile. "Convenience store it is." He says as he puts the car in gear.

"You know I talked to Hank about maybe checking you out to make sure that you were okay during that week you were kind of zoned out. He didn't seem super enthusiastic. I was thinking we might go down to the clinic near my flat at some point if you wanted to get it checked out. But it's up to you."'

*

Nancy arches a brow and looks at Bobby quizzically. "What do you mean ‘zoned out’?"

*

“You were all… well, you were like you are when you wake up in the morning, but all day. For a week. Started when we went to Nova Roma. You didn't talk unless someone talked to you and even then it wasn't really to carry a conversation. And you did pretty much whatever anyone told you to without question. It just… wasn't you. I was getting worried." He says as he drives, sparing her a glance.

"You bounced back the day I came in and you'd gone off your diet. I was really glad to see you had too."

*
'
Yeah well, screw the diet. I think I could prance about Hank's lab naked and all he'd say is 'Be careful not to touch my stuff'." She rolls her eyes and tries not to be too grumpy about the disinterest of the big blue oaf. "And yeah, I was quiet. I was just.. I don't know. I didn't feel like talking. I was fine. You and Illyana and Jer all think I was sick though, so fine. I'll go to a doc about it. But it has to be someone that isn't gonna turn me in."

*

“Jer?" Bobby's not sure he's heard her mention the name, or Jericho before. "Another friend of yours? I was thinking the Avenue C clinic because it's known for working with mutants. They're a low cost sorta place, in it for charity. But if there's someone you'd rather go to or someone you can ask, it can wait. I'll keep you near if you zone out again. Er, that sounded creepy. Sorry. I'll be right with you though if you zone out again."

*

Nancy laughs. "You'll keep me near, huh? Not cause I did pretty much whatever anyone told me to or anything, right? Just to keep me safe." She sticks her tongue out at him and grins.

"'Sides! Look at me! Does this body need to worry about being fat? No, I don't think so. Maybe after poppin' out a few puppies, but that's not happening any time soon."

She opens the window of the car and puts her feet up along the edge of it. "So fine. I'll go to the doctor. Maybe give them a whole kougerrand, just to watch them freak out."

*

His eyes shine. "I don't think you need to worry about that, no."

Bobby pulls into a convenience store and steps out to go with her into the shop. Maybe he'll want a candy bar or something. He chuckles at the idea of a doctor's office flipping out.

"Let's see 'em try to make change, mmm? And yes, to keep you safe. Though hey, the other bit might be some fun too." He's teasing. He wouldn't actually take advantage of Nancy like that. He cares about her too much. Though if she convinced him that she was really okay… well… that might be fair game.'

*

Nancy giggles and starts walking into the store like a zombie. "Braaaains," she slurs before laughing and heading to the candy aisle. She'll be back tomorrow, so she only really needs enough for the night, so 5 Ringpops (tm) it is! She grabs one of each of the flavors they have.

"Well, frankly, if they do it mostly for charity, I wouldn't be asking for change. I don't need it. So let them keep the money and use it for someone that can't afford it." She shrugs. She's been living off the government for so long because of her ill mother that now that she has money, giving it to others isn't so hard for her.

*

Bobby chuckles. "We'll go drop by tomorrow then." She gets a rather sudden kiss on the cheek. "And that's really generous of you. I'm sure they'll appreciate it."

He selects a snickers and a mars bar and a twixt because why choose and then tops it off with a root beer and slides into line right behind Nancy. When they're both paid for he saunters on back to the car with his prizes and his partner.
'
*

Think you are up for a drive to the airport? I would love to see Parti again and she has a hanger over there. Actually, let me drive. You get to close your eyes so you don't know where we're going." She steals the keys out of his hands and now surprises him with a kiss, using the surprise to get the keys as she laughs. "Come on, you.

*

Rather than the drivers’ side, he slides into the passengers’ side.

"Close my eyes, hrm? I guess you did say she was a freedom fighter." Bobby unwraps one of his candy bars and tilts his chair back as he opens the soda.

"Sure she's gonna be okay meeting me? Or should I just wait in the car and let you two catch up." *The way he asks makes it clear that he trusts her and will be fine with any answer.

*

Nancy snickers as she starts to drive. In spite of really wanting to do something stupid, like speed, she promised she wouldn't do anything stupid on purpose so is the perfect driver, all following the rules of the road and everything. "Let's see, driving up in a car with an unknown element. She'll want to keep her eyes on you. Especially when I tell her that you and I are sorta… Okay, well we're not dating. Well, whatever we are, yeah, she's gonna wanna grill you like bacon."

*

"We're only not dating because I haven't asked you out on a date yet." Bobby smiles, eyes still closed. "Which I should fix. Do you want to go out and have dinner sometime?" He means it, but he's grinning mischievously.

"So I get the Mom interview, but from a legendary fighter? Okay. I'll… do my best to be prepared."

*

Nancy shrugs, the ringpop in her mouth. She nods, pushing the lolly to one side as she talks. "Yeah. She's more of a mom to me then my real one. My real mom… she's sick. Real sick. It's hard sometimes. I don't blame her for being… not the best parent, but it's nice having someone trying to take care of me."

She takes a deep breath and lets it out in a heavy sigh as she thinks about her mother. Guilt starts to weigh heavily on her for having abandoned the woman for so long. She just wanted a break from it, to get away from the constant string of verbal abuse.

"You want to take me out for dinner? Seriously. Like burgers or something fancy or what?"

*

“What do you like? First date, might as well be food we both enjoy. Although I don't think we'll have to worry about the usual first date awkwardness of trying to figure out if we like the other person." *He reaches over, opening one eye to look at her, still not in a position to look at the road, and pats her hand* "I know I've made up my mind on that one."'

*

Driving to the hangar isn't too hard, once she remembers where she is going. "I'm pretty easy, as far as that goes. I'll eat just about anything. Seriously. When you live like my mom and me did, you learn that if it's in front of you, you eat it." She gives his hand a squeeze.

"We're almost here. Liking the view of the ceiling?" She pulls up and parks the car, sighing. "Okay, she's a little… brusque. Swears a lot. But she's a good person. It's just a little hard to see at times. Okay? And don't worry. I won't let her shoot you." She gets out of the car and starts to walk over to the hangar door, knocking.

*

"How comforting." Bobby chuckles, keeping his eyes scrupulously on the ceiling until Nancy stops, then he gets out with her but hangs back enough to give her and her 'Mom' some room to reconnect before introductions are made. Airport. Hanger. Interesting place to live. Or be. At night. Ah well, it's an almost Mom of Nancy's how bad can it be?

*

There’s Iron Maiden blaring inside, and a boring looking VW golf parked outside but the place could otherwise just be empty like all the other massive multi-jet hangars at the airport. After a moment though, Partisan pops the door open. Tall, athletic, a red head now and yes she can buy cigarettes without ID thank god. Beat up BDUs long since cut into board shorts, flip flops and a T-shirt with a picture of a JDAM inscribed with "I'm gonna liberate the FUCK out of you!". She peers quietly amongst the pair, before betraying a soft grin and sweeping forward to wrap Nancy in a squeeze.

"Who's the young man hmm? Goodness, do come in I'll kill the music just a moment please." Stepping aside to invite the pair inside.

*

When Nancy first sees the redhead, a scowl forms on her face. "Who the fuck are… oof!" She is swept up in a hug and has to beg to be allowed to breath. "Hey Mama Wolf. Guess who gets herself hall passes now?" She smiles then, wide. Her hair is black again, and long, way longer then she had it before. She gestures over to the car and the young man standing by it.

"This is Bobby. My … sorta… he and I… I don't know, we're kind of a thing. Sort of. Maybe. It's complicated." She herself is wearing pleather pants, high heeled boots and a geeky t-shirt with a vest over it left open to show off the design. "I hadn't seen you in forever and with the attack you and Jer are doing, I wanted you to know that I'm all in."

*

Bobby waves when gestured to. His in the clothes he came from work in, so it's slacks and a colored button up. There's a lab coat in the back of his car but Parti probably can't see that. She can probably smell cold air around him though. He's sitting on the hood, watching Nancy and her surrogate mom reconnect.

*

"Oh -lovely- so everyone has been told as to what we're doing, man fucking civilians never fail." Inside it's brightly lit, there are indeed aircraft here though Nancy is liable to notice some are missing. A PC-12, a MU-2 and a trio of BO-105s but the "tactical" aircraft are… well gone.

"Come on in, both of you. You and your "kind of a thing", aren't you going to introduce us?" Leading on, if only so the Partisan can kill the stereo. Nevermind the RPG on the workbench, or the distinctive "uniform" draped over a nearby rolling tool cart. Just ignore the, like grenades and assault rifle and shit.

"I'll get the oven started in a minute, you remember where the card table and folding chairs are I trust Nancy?"

*

Nancy laughs and rolls her eyes, beckoning Bobby to follow her. "No, not everyone knows. Just myself, Bobby here and two others. The two of us will be helping with the actual attack, the other two are setting up a safe house for the other N kids to go to afterwards. I'll be moving in there with them when that happens. My power will help us focus on getting them psychologically fixed till they are able to take care of themselves."

She looks around the hangar and arches a brow. "You got rid of some of your planes? Is everything okay? And his name is Bobby. Robert Drake, if you must know so you can do a full check up on him and make sure he's good enough for me."

She shrugs over to Bobby. She was gonna do one anyway, might as well give her the info now.

Nancy goes over to the table and chairs. "So, yah. As long as I'm careful and don't do anything too noticeable to get myself caught, I am allowed my freedom. Though Bobby is supposed to 'keep me safe'.

*

Bobby walks on over when invited and offers his hand. "Ma'am." He says politely. He does have small town manners, having been raised in a small town. "And to be clear, I'm not gonna stop her from doing anything Just, you know, have her back if it gets to be problematic. Also I'd like to help with the situation with those people like Nancy who are being held."

*

"Bobby Drake then, alright." Part accepts that hand for a firm squeeze, before easing off towards the little "almost" a kitchen.

"Well, It's going to be very messy and very bloody and a fuck ton of dudes are gonna get their noodles perforated. Nancy's been around that sort of thing, knows how to handle a gun. How about You Bobby, as you've been tasked with protecting her I suspect you're not vanilla?" Nancy only gets a glance, and a smile as she gets the stove turned up. "Remember that group I was gonna start, well I did. It needs little birds more than I do. That, is who's doing the rescue. The Chain Cutter's Union."

*

Nancy takes a deep breath and lets it out slowly. Yeah, she knows how to use a gun. She closes her eyes and nods. There is gonna be blood, she knows that. "Chain Cutter's Union? What's that name about?"

*

"Not exactly normal, no Ma'am." Bobby says with a smile, momentarily letting a pulse of cold go out from him that hits everywhere but where Nancy is. "Not really a supersoldier or anything like that but I can help out when I'm needed." And beat up people when needed, as Nancy knows well enough from sparring and… other things. "I hope the arrangement's okay with you Ma'am?" He looks about and then over to Nancy as if to say 'Where's the other guy?'

*

"He's my sparring partner. I got sick and tired of being told that I needed combat training, so I beat the tar out of Bobby here while they all watched." She smirks playfully. "He's forgiven me for it, but he was asking for me to kiss all his boo-boos." She shrugs her shoulders to Bobby. If Jer isn't here… "He's probably out making Hydra's life a pain in the ass."

*

Bobby has, to be fair, no conception of what that means. Sounds pretty intense though. He smiles as Nancy needles him. "She was nice enough to take it easy on me. Said you taught her everything she knows about it. She's a hell of a fighter." He's been doing it for longer, she's been training a lot harder. It kind of evens out but Nancy's a lot more aggressive than he is by nature when she's not zoned out.

*

Partisan knows that look. "Nancy, you didn't hit anyone. You were in a war zone, you fired and you hit a whole lot've ground and concrete. Don't let that creep up in your noodle, if you'd snapped a fucker we would have sat down and talked about the ethical considerations of that act wouldn't we?"

Bobby, gets the raised eyebrow. "And presuming Nancy's ability is not unique to her, that it was reproduced multiple times and you will be unable to utilize that very handy power of yours? Can you pick up a gun and use it, do you know how to tie yourself into a rappelling line, or basic combat first aid?" Her tone is hardly pointed, it's more of a gentle probe really.

"The Chain cutter's union, it does what the name implies. It frees people from oppression, cuts the chains that bind them."As she turns to get the stuffed peppers out've the fridge and into the oven, and of course light a cigarette. "Nancy has likely told you, despite appearances I'm hardly random with my use of violence. There are profound moral and ethical considerations to direct action, but it's often necessary. I've been swinging at their most visible, best protected members. This has lead Hydra to believe I'm a mixture of blood thirsty and stupid, which is the point. As things progressed, they became alarmed but felt their information was secure from stupid old me. So as I made it look like a drunken flail, they chatted and chatted and in the process I learned many of their secrets. The time for that, overt, public, excessively violent action has passed. With a new phase of combat operations, comes the need for a new image and a new standard of operation. So, to further sharpen those capabilities I and Jerry distilled the necessary facets of our skillsets and our essential ethical outrage into an organization. Just two of us, but these things take time and that's alright."

The note about Nancy's fighting, well draws a proud smile. "She's a very good student, and I've gone to great lengths to give her a worldly understanding of how things work. When you understand the essential evil of man, fighting man becomes much easier. It's a pity American youths are so, poorly traveled and so very poorly educated. Never seeing real violence, and so never understanding what the nature of humanity much less it's love of violence really is."

*

"I have told him that you are a freedom fighter or perhaps a terrorist, that it really depends on who you talk to. I also told him, you are the closest thing I have to a real mom. Okay, yeah, I know. It's her illness, not her, but… yeah." She unwraps another lolly and pops it in her mouth, ignoring the talk about Kush. If she pretends it didn't happen, then maybe she will come to believe it.

"Yeah, well, I told you, Bobby, I don't like killing people. I said nothing about hurting them. Like I said before, shooting knees are not lethal but they do tend to take a person out of the fight."

*

Bobby nods. He has heard that before after all. "I'm not a trained fighter Ma'am." He tells partisan. "But I can shoot. Well, a .22. Can get a squirrel at 150 on irons. But that's about it. I know some martial arts. And I'll take a knife or a bullet before I let something happen to Nancy. Promise." He seems like the kind of guy who doesn't promise lightly.

*

Partisan lifts a hand to stop Bobby "You don't have to worry about my approval Bobby, if Nancy likes you that's all I care about. She's a big girl, she can make decisions on her own. I'm asking, because we don't have weeks here. So if I need to teach you something, it's best we do that before game day right?" Flitting a glance after Nancy, before producing a table cloth and setting it out over the card table. Followed by a careful setting of the table, even if the plates are on the cheap side.

"Nancy, you've never killed anyone. You may have had the intent, and the means but you never did more than keep heads down. You made a decision to avoid lethal means wherever necessary, and true to my word I'll support you in that decision. I have some less than lethal hardware I can issue, and if that's what makes you comfortable then that's fine. I didn't train you to be a Partisan Nancy, I trained you so that you would never have to live at the end of anyone's leash."

*

Nancy looks over to Bobby with an arch of a brow. 'Really?' it says? "My hero. You know I can totally kick your ass." She goes over to Partisan to help with dinner and gives her a hug. "On the plus side, my control of my power is really good now. I can pull it in to only 5 feet and push it out on purpose. Oh, and I'll be bringing a toy of my own. You're gonna love it. Ever heard of a Loogey gun?"

*

Bobby chuckles when Parti stops him and nods. And gives Nancy a broad grin. "Well sure, Nan. Doesn't mean I wouldn't do it though." He finds out without too much effort that no men are allowed in a Bulgarian woman's kitchen, so he hangs back, grinning at the notion of Nancy with a loogey gun. Cause that was hilarious. Would have been more so if she hadn't been zombified at the moment cause he's sure she would have tossed out some one liners.

*

"Control is fantastic, but you're not carrying anything I haven't field tested yet. We have too many lives on the line to trust anything that isn't a hundred percent, I have a non lethal gun for you and Bobby if he doesn't want an actual rifle." Part pauses there, before producing the stuffed bell peppers in sauce and serving it up. Big fat bell peppers filled with a mixture of lamb, spices, onions and mashed sweet potatoes. Motioning for the pair to sit.

"Go on and dig on in, now can I get you two tomorrow as well? We'll need to teach you basic helicopter safety, how to rappel and some trigger time with the less than a gun I'll be giving at least one of you."

*

Nancy goes to sit down, smiling as she looks over at Bobby. "She's gonna take over your life, but I promise it will be interesting." She leans over and gives him a bump with her knee to his. "So, does this count as our first date? I took you somewhere. There is dinner. You're meeting my family… "

She nods her head to Partisan. "I will make room in the schedule to come here for dinner tomorrow. Still practicing my music and my power stuff. I'll leave the workout practice till when I show up here."

*

Bobby chuckles. "Meeting your family definitely important. Still willing to take you out to dinner if you want though." He nods to Partisan. If he has to go through Parti school to help out, then that's what he's got to do. Doesn't look like it will be too bad. She hasn't grilled him like bacon yet at all. Night's young though.

*

Partisan digs in with a smirk. "Take the girl out, once this is over. Do you need some bucks, you can pay me back when you're done with school and get a job."

Chewing thoughtfully for a moment, and yes she is -quite- the cook. "We have weapon qualifications work tomorrow then, some grenade training, hand signals and then we'll focus on the basic tactics and skills. Close quarters combat training, rappelling, helicopter safety and safety training for the door guns. You two realize the trust I'm putting in both of you I hope, because this is absolutely a zero fail operation. The CCU only has two members, so only two of everyone involved does this sort of thing on a regular basis. Any mistake, no matter how slight is almost certainly going to result in serious bodily harm or death."

Pausing a moment as she slices off a bit more. "Oh and explosives handling, Nancy this'll be mostly a refresher for you."

*

Bobby laughs, and it's not like Jeri's. Jeri's laugh is wry, or self deprecating, or tired but rarely just amused. Bobby's is bright and young. "I appreciate that Ma'am. I have a decent job though at an energy research firm. Thank you for offering though. And the food's really good." He doesn't say anything about training. Presumably he doesn't object. He doesn't look like he objects, at any rate. And he seems perfectly willing to enjoy Parti and Nancy's company for the evening.

*

Nancy eats, a lot more polite about it then she used to be. Eating three squares a day has helped her with her table manners. She smirks.

"He has a job, actually. He's a scientist. Yes, Mama Wolf, apparently I have a thing for sciency types and just didn't know it till now." She nods her head to all the training. She's used to being worked hard.

"These other N kids are like me. Hell, if not for Jericho, I'd have been in there by now and you'd have had no clue how to find me. I'm going in there and I'm getting them out."

*

"Oh I'd have found out, I'd just have been much more violent. Hurt someone enough, and they'll tell you whatever you want to know. It's only a matter of time until I followed the trail to someone who knew, and then I'd have sprung you soonest." Part muses casually, because torture is common table discussion.

"Why thank you Bobby, and you're very welcome. I'm glad to hear you're gainfully employed, seems like you're hitting all the right keys."
