Giovanni's is kind of the place to be after a long day's work and none knows this better than dedicated chow hound Bobby Drake. However, some secrets are not meant to be kept, so he sent out an invitation to friends and co-workers (and friends of friends in the case of one Kitty Pryde) that after work dinner and drinks was definitely going to be a thing. Heroing is good. Relaxing with friends? So much better. He's got a booth secured and the way these things go, he won't be too disappointed if no one shows. He will, after all, have had an excellent dinner.

-

Settling into her new job as a teacher at Xavier's, Kitty has been in a whirlwind of attempting to lesson plan and adjustment. Some time away from the school with the addition of a good meal is just too much to pass up. The
young brunette enters Giovanni's with a curious and interested expression on her face before seeing Bobby in one of the booths in the back, makes her way toward him.

"Hey!" she greets with a grin. "This place smells fantastic."

-

Arriving shortly after Kitty is Doug, dressed up in a button-up shirt with a collar, and nice pants.

"Hi, guys," Doug greets, moving over to slide next to Kitty, and nodding at Bobby. "Work held me up a bit. Been waiting long? You wouldn't believe it, but Berto tried to set up a company soccer game for after-hours."
Making a face, Doug nudges Kitty. "Actually, you probably would believe it."

-

Bobby grins. "I would. I would have gone but I wanted food. And yeah, everything in this place is pretty amazing. Er, Kitty, right? You know Doug? I know a lot of you 'old timers' met before when you were younger." Bobby himself didn't go to Xaviers and wasn't there for long during the brief time he was exposed to it, so he's kind of starting fresh with everyone. "Sit down, take a load off. Work going okay for both of you?"

-

"I just got here," Kitty waves at Doug as she slides into the booth. "A soccer game? Yeah, I can definitely believe he'd do that." With a laugh, she shakes her head. "So, are you going to play?"
Focusing back on Bobby, she answers, "Yeah, Doug and I went to Xavier's together. We were both the computer nerds." She grins and leans back a bit into the cushions. "Good, thanks! Just getting set up." With a glance toward Doug, she adds, "Did I tell you I accepted a job at teaching at Xavier's? Well, I did. Hank suggested it.

-

"No way. I hightailed it for over here before he busted me," Doug laughs, as he shifts his attention back to Bobby. "Yeah, so naturally we ended up working together a lot back then. Team Supreme. Though Berto is paying us to never do that again." He looks back towards Kitty, nodding. "So, Hank's happy to get a bunch of teachers back at Xavier's? Well then you can send your students our way when it's time for them to graduate. They better meet our standards, though…"

Running a hand through his hair, Doug adds, "Although I'd bet Berto just likes them blonde."

-

"Our standards? We have those?" Bobby jokes. "Beyond Berto's standards for his dates, I mean?" Clearly Berto does have those. "Teaching job, eh? Well good. I'm glad to hear it. Are you guys going to be doing classes soon though?" It's are reasonable question considering that the school was attacked in the not too distant past. Bobby could see it either way. Security's pretty decent when you count the instructors and various X-Man teams.

"Ah, so the gangs getting back together? Must be nice."

-

There's a snicker from Kitty. "Your very high standards, eh?" She moves to elbow him gently in the ribbing fashion her comment was made, seemingly agreeing with Bobby. "I'm not exactly a guidance counselor. I'm going to be teaching them computer sciences." She laughs, "Just like his decorating, I'm sure Berto has very exacting idea of his wants. Plus, the blonde thing."

With a shrug, Kitty folds her hands on the table, her answer a bit more serious. "It's Xavier's. We're nothing if not resilient. I'm sure we'll be back to school shortly. I'm just trying to use the time to make sure I'm ready. I wish I was there, though, I was in Greenland when the attack happened." Then, she pauses, backing herself up a moment. "Oh, right, and you're Bobby? Sorry, I thought I knew your name, but I realized I should make sure I was remembering properly." She gives him an apologetic grin.

-

"Yeah well…" Leaning forward, Doug peers at Kitty. "What made you decide you're better off being a teacher?" he asks, tilting his head at the girl, before looking at Bobby. "Not completely, anyway. Some people are there, some people are here, and we all just run over to see each other when we need to help each other."

-

Bobby nods and chuckles. "Yep, that's me. Cool-Twin works too, since we have two." Doug's explanation gets a nod and a grin. "Well so long as you back eachother up and stick together, I guess that counts. It's nice to see really." Cause the cool guy here knows what it looks like when people don't. There's an ugly side to community and family when it breaks down. And then the food arrives and gloomy thoughts are forgotten rather easily.

-

Kitty shrugs. "I'm not sure. I mean, Xavier's has always felt like home to me." It's hard to put into exact words. "So, when Hank suggested I teach, I thought I may want to try it. That's not going to interfere with anything, is it?"

As the food arrives, Kitty perks up. "This looks so good." Grabbing her fork, starts to dig in. "So, where did you grow up, Bobby?"

-

Shrugging, Doug tilts his head. "Don't think so, though you probably should talk to 'Berto about how much time you have for teaching and for working for the company. Though if you're just going for X-Men Red, then no big deal, I think, since you can work with us anytime."

His attention shifts to Bobby, as he reaches for the appetizer. "I'm not calling him the hot twin, you realize that, right?"

-

Bobby laughs. "It'd might get a bit awkward, sure." He says with a wink. "I don't think you really could mess anything up Kitty. X-Red is here to be here. You know, out there, for people to look at. It's not like we're trying to avoid attention so there's no concerns there. And as for me myself? I work in a lab all day, so 'interference' is often quite welcome." Bobby enjoys his work to be sure, but sometimes a break from the labs and the scientists is nice. Scientists don't know how to have fun, many of them.

-

"I'll talk to him, then. Figure out what's going on." Kitty shrugs. That seems to be the way of Kitty - figure things out as she goes along. "Hot twin?" She raises an eyebrow, looking between the two of them.

"Well, it's also a lot of pressure to, you know, not screw up." The girl frowns a moment. "I mean, I don't want to be the one that set mutant relations back ten years for whatever reason." She sighs and shakes her head. "Nevermind, I think I'm just thinking into things too much." Looking back to Bobby, she shifts the conversation. "A lab? That's interesting. What kind of lab?"

-

"I wouldn't worry about -you- setting back mutant relationships for years, Kitty," Doug responds, with a wry grin. "Besides, Berto probably would take care of the relationships part mostly."
Looking back towards Bobby, the blond linguist nods briefly. "Weren't you working with, uh… what was his name, Mike?"

-

"Oh boy. Roberto DaCosta. Advancing Mutant 'Realtions' since he was old enough to flirt." Bobby laughs. 'Yeah, Berto goes by 'Bobby' too. He does heat powers, I do cold powers. A mutual friend decided we must therefore be separated twins when we first met."

"Mmm, well it's a lab that focuses on the applications for cold to things. Which there are more of than you might think. Lots of things need to be kept cold to work, but my specialty is thermodynamics and superconductors. And yeah, Doug, I do work with our resident Techromancer sometimes. When he's not inventing bomb sniffing moths and splitting himself into three different bodies." The ice nerd flashes Kitty a grin. "If you haven't met Mike, Kitty, you should. He's a techie, you'll get along well."

-

"Well, no one worries about it until it's too late!" Kitty grins at Doug at his reassurances, then laughs at the comment about Berto. "That is not what I meant," she tells the both of them with a snort, though it quickly turns to laughter.

"I haven't," she responds with a shake of her head. "I'll look out for him, then. And that sounds really interesting! I've fallen behind in a lot of my scientific readings, but I used to keep up with a lot of the advances and discoveries being made. It's really remarkable what people can do with practical application and extrapolation."

Then, she pauses, grinning devilishly. "Though, of course, Berto would love to be called the hot twin."

-

"You're welcome to calling -him- that," Doug responds, grinning, before giving Bobby a strange look at 'techromancer'. "Is Mike doing, uh, things with tech we don't want to be asking about?"

-

"You'd have to ask him. What Mike does in his room is his own business so far as I'm concerned." Bobby's joking, of course. Mike invents things, he assumes though if ever a real life Pygmalion could make a real life Galatae, that'd be he.

-

"I do Warm-Twin myself though hey, I'm sure he'd appreciate Hot-Twin. Just be careful. His ego doesn't need any more feeding." The playful tone from the ice nerd makes it clear that whatever the truth of the matter, he's just teasing.

"You're both welcome to come by the lab at some point. It's Berto's so, you know. And I'm in charge. I'll give you the dollar tour, if you're that interested."

-

Kitty grins at the pair of them, offering a shrug. "Hey, I just said that he would love to be called the hot twin. Not that I was planning on making that his nickname any time soon. I'll save that for a rainy day, I guess." Because, who knows Berto may need the ego boost once in awhile.

"I'd like that," she nods eagerly, always willing to learn and see more - especially when it has to do with science and techonology.

-

"Do that, don't forget the blond wig… maybe Illy can magick up your hair for one day," Doug teases Kitty, before his eyes light up. "Oh, definitely. I'd love to see a lab like that."

-

"Oh somehow I think that Berto will be fine with Kitty just the way she is. Call it a hunch." Bobby has observed that Berto is an equal opportunity scandalizer. He's nice about it, though. "Though I promised to introduce him to an alien space princess, so you may have some competition." The ice nerd winks. Actually he promised to get Nancy to do that and has no idea if the alien space princess is involved. Not that he thinks Berto would seriously make a play for her. Um… he wouldn't, right?

-

There's a waved hand and Kitty laughs some more. "I'm fine with not having blonde hair and not needing Berto to like me just the way I am I mean, I want him to like me, but not quite like that." At the alien space princess line, she raises an eyebrow. "Oh really? I didn't realize that was something you could do. Though, I guess I shouldn't be surprised by anything these days."
