Jericho's… well, preparing for battle. It looks like he's reading a demonic lexicon… which he is. Mostly preparing for battle on his end involved prepping his kit (which is already done) and then saving his strength for what's ahead. Physically he's still okay. Not sleeping well but okay. Mentally and emotionally he's slowly going insane from the lack of ability to destress which is why he's been avoiding stressful things as much as possible. It doesn't help much since his life is set as a fairly stressful baseline.

What's coming up isn't exactly going to be easy. He has to explain to Nancy what's going on. He owes her that much, his adoptive sister. She's not going to like it. He can't blame her. When the plan was for Illyana to go by herself (for relatively good reasons) he didn't like it either.

-

The charger pulls up and the familiar sound of Nancy's heels echoing in the staircase is heard. Yes, she takes the stairs. No elevator for her. Call it a quirk. Most people get cranky sharing an elevator with a cello case, so it's just easier. Less traffic to deal with. Soon enough, she is at the door. She knocks, but then opens the door right after, so it's more of a warning that she's entering then a request for it. "Hey brother wolf. You wanted to talk to me?"

-

Jericho turns and his eyes glimmer when he sees Nancy. There's actually a light behind them now. "Hey Nan. Yeah, have a seat. Want anything to eat or drink?" He's looking Tired. It's more in his mannerisms and cadence than anything else. Just somehow… worn. As though he'd been dealing with a lot for a long time… which to be fair he has.

-

"Looks like you need to sit more then I do. Park yer sweet patoot and I'll grab the vodka and ice cream." She has made herself at home here, already heading into the kitchen. "So, when were you planning on telling me about K'nert, you ass. Is he better? Is he here?" Once she has two spoons, two tumblers, the vodka and the double chocolate brownie fudge ice cream, she comes to flop down on the couch herself. "So, what's up, Jer. You look like crap. Has Hydra been up to their old tricks?"

-

"No this is…" Jericho sits down with a sigh. "Limbo related. K'nert's back up. Illyana managed to wake him. And when she did he told her that… I'd been kidnapped and messed with so I didn't remember. By her old nemesis. Belasco." The demon-lord who made her what she is today. Well, sort of. Responsible for all the bad things that happened to her anyway.

"We're going after him, Illyana and I, to get that piece of me back." He pauses. "Just us two."

-

Nancy is pouring the vodka as Jericho explains and is about to hand him his glass when he says how she's being excluded. She pulls the glass back then, her pale grey eyes narrowing. "I'm sorry, what? You did not just say you are leaving me out of this."

-

"I did." Jericho sighs. "I'm sorry, Nancy. I'd bring you and Partisan both if I could. It's not like we couldn't use the help. But Belasco has a lot of really nasty magic. He's… broken people before, just to hurt Illyana. Turned them against her or just twisted them into something else. She wasn't even going to bring me but circumstances er… changed." How does one explain to one's adoptive little sister that you've become her best friend's Familiar? Jericho isn't sure.

-

"So you and her and bumping uglies now and you think you're just gonna cut me out? You're like a brother to me. She's my best friend. If I can help, then I want to help. I got all that tech that Kori is letting me use and they're demons, not people, so I'm not gonna get all wishy-washy about killing them. No offense, K'nert." Nancy boggarts the ice cream and vodka now, not sharing since Jericho is being a jerk and doesn't deserve chocolate or booze.

-

Jericho rubs his temples. "Ugh. It's not like that Nan. That wasn't what changed." He glances up, his eyes are… glowing softly. Like there's a match bethind them, flickering. He straightens a little. "It's not that I don't trust you Nan. I want to be able bring you and hell every friend Illyana has. I'd love to ram that down Belasco's throat. But if we do that… she's just gonna lose a lot of friends. And it'll be worse than just getting killed. She told me that the last time something like this happened-" For some definitions of 'something like this'. "-A bunch of alternate universe X-Men got trapped in Limbo and turned into near demons themselves… Servants and pets of Belasco. She ended up watching a lot of them die… some of them she had to kill her self. She can't make herself do it again. She only agreed to bring me after her head demon forced her to… er… bind me to herself."

-

Nan glares at Jericho, frowning. Nope, she's not happy. "So… what? I get to just sit here and wait and hope like hell you two make it back? I get to pace the floor? Why did you even bother to tell me if you weren't bringing me along? If you win, you could tell me after. If you both died, I'd have just figured you two moved into Limbo and forgot about me." She gets up and starts to pace, the bottle in her hand which she takes a swig from now and again. "Instead, I get to sit and stew. And do nothing."

-

"It didn't feel right to not tell you. I owed you and Parti both an explanation before I went off. Illyana's doing the same with the X-Red folks." And they're not gonna be happy either Jericho's pretty sure. "You know I wouldn't forget about you. Not after everything we've been through. I just wanted you to know what was going on and why. If you wanna try talking to Illyana be my guest." It didn't do much good for him, but she's elcome to try.

-

Nancy frowns and turns to face Jericho, her arms crossed over her chest with the bottle dangling down. "You do realize that K'nert likes me a hell of a lot more then he likes you, right? Maybe he'd just help me out and let me follow you. Help you anyway. Ever think of that?"

-

"I think he likes Illyana more than he likes either of us. I'd thought of that too when she wasn't going to bring me but I don't think it'd make a difference for either of us." Beat. "Though you're still welcome to try." Jericho's smile is wry and his eyes flash in amusement.

"She said you'd probably not forgive me, for what it's worth."

-

"It's bad enough you get K'nert injured and not tell me. And then the whole love bites on Illyana? Yeah, so don't need to see those! And now, you're likely gonna get yourselves both killed and I get to play army wife and sit and wait for the little pink letter that says you're both dead." She goes back to pacing, scowling angrily. Not that Jericho can feel it, but Nan's aura is at it's full size now. "Forgive you? If you *do* manage to make it back alive, you are gonna have a hell of a lot to answer for. But, since I doubt that's gonna happen, I want your stuff."

-

"Alright." Jericho looks a bit more amused now, in a tired worried way. He stands up and goes over to Nancy to hug her. "If I bite it, you can have this place. I'll leave info to the rest of the stuff that might be valuable."

Nan gets a squeeze. "I'll come back, though. And I'll bring her back too. K'nert… did something interesting. He give Illyana's head demon information that… led to her binding me. He did it because he thought if I went it might make a difference."

-

Nancy punches Jericho when he hugs her, still scowling. "I should shoot you in the foot, just for being a jerk," she says, pouting. She flops down on the couch again, picking up the ice cream. Jericho's still not getting any. Nope, rotten brothers don't get ice cream, especially when it's chocolate brownie. "So, you belong to her. Like married bound or something kinky? Wait…. I don't wanna know. Bruises from biting her on her hip is bad enough. Pervert."

-

"Glad you don't want to know 'cause there's not much I can tell you. Familiars are usually animals and they are 'owned' in that manner. She told me that my magic and essence was bound to hers. And it prevents people from drawing on the magic stored within me, at least easily." More than that Jericho doesn't know but he's guessing that it makes it easier for her to affect with her magic. Possibly in more extensive ways than might otherwise be possible.

"And it's not like I've not seen you with love bites from Bobby, by the way."

-

Sticking her tongue out at Jericho, she takes another spoonful of ice cream. "That's different. You're like old and junk." Yeah, she went there. "You know what they say, don't trust anyone over 30. That's you. And so you're a familiar? Is this cause of the glowy thing she can do with your traces?"

-

Jericho shakes his head. "That's just my traces eating magic, though it may have something to do with why my eyes put on a light show, now." Though that started before he became her familiar too. He's not quiiiiiite sure when. "The people who said that, by the way, are all over thirty now, Nan." Seriously, that was in the 60's.

"She's got a lock down on my magic. And there's some kind of link. She says she can feel… what was the phrase she used… 'emotional background noise' from me. And I could tell you where she is with my eyes closed provided she's reasonably nearby and on the same plane."

-

"That just means that they can't be trusted now either," says Nan, finally having had her fill of ice cream. She puts the carton on the floor for K'nert, knowing he'll come for it when it's ready and he likes it melted as much as frozen.

"Sounds like supernatural love to me," she says with that teasing lilt he's used to. Yeah, she's mad at him, but he's her adopted brother. She still loves the jerk.

-

"It's almost a pity we can't open a portal big enough for the Starfire to fit through." Jericho muses. "I'd love to give Belasco a face full of K'tten manning the guns." And K'tten does so like to blow things up. The hacker grins a bit tiredly as Nan teases him. "How are things on your end? I've not heard a lot from you recently."

-

Nancy has to smile at the thought of the Outsiders space ship flying in and blasting full bore at the demon that has made her best friend's life the way it is. She pulls her own weapon out of its holster, looking like something one might find at a comic convention more then an actual weapon. She now gives Jericho his glass of vodka. "Meh. Been really busy. Work and school keep me pretty much occupied all the time. Still, some of the nesters have jobs now with Roberto's company. They're starting to heal, so that's a good thing."

-

"Sounds like you've been busy. When I'm all whole again I'll come down and see you again, or we can meet on Starfire's ship. For now though, maybe you'd like to help me eat a pizza? I was going to order something for lunch." Jericho reaches for the phone, with a questioning glance.

-

"And a movie. If this is my last day with you, gonna make it worth it. Make it a meat lovers with extra meat." She downs the vodka in her glass, filling it up again. It would seem that tonight is a night for Nan to get drunk and not think about the possibility of losing two of her closest friends.
