Logan brought SHIELD (through May) samples of some compounds that their scientists were still studying, though some of the substances already identified were … worrisome. And, when May shared the results with Logan, he promptly insisted that those results along with samples of the substances be taken to an 'independent scientist' that he has heard of in upstate New York. May being May, she is skeptical of handing off such potentially incriminating items to just anyone, so with Barton out of field rotation she asks his protege, Kate Bishop, to accompany them.

Arriving at a pre-arranged meeting place in the town of Westchester, May pulls the car to a stop and looks at the others before cutting the engine. "I'm expecting this to be a boring intel drop, but still. Stay alert."

~

"These are the mutants, right?" Kate, paragon of subtlety. She takes a look around as she steps out of the car, and while she's alert as directed, she seems more curious than cautious. "Nice digs. You know, we need to raise taxes or something, because it sure seems like every time I turn around, someone's got shinier equipment." She doesn't exactly fit in with the SHIELD look, in jeans and a loose sweater, with her purple shades up on her head. She also looks a little too old to be brought in as a student. Kate, non sequitor.

~

While Kitty is not the 'independent scientist' that May had heard of, she has heard about the files and also may be the reason Logan knows about Hank and his scientific genius. Plus, she's met the curt Agent before. In a way, she is a bit of a liason between a few of the different factions as she knows them all to varying degrees. Whether she got the meeting place from Logan or from Hank, she shows up a little after May and Kate pull up. Hands in her pockets, purple dragon perched on her shoulder like a strange sort of parrot, the young mutant tosses May a grin. "Afternoon, Agent May."

~

"I'm still not convinced that SHIELD didn't leak information on us," Hank McCoy pontificates to no one in particular. He's not entirely certain of this meeting in general, but certain people can talk him into things rather easily. "I also know that you're trying to get me out of the Institute…" is muttered to the car console.
Pulling up to the agreed-upon spot in a car he borrowed, he takes a moment to look at those gathered before letting out a slow exhale. This could either be very easy or incredibly messy. He might stay in the car just a little longer than necessary but after a few moments, he finally steps out of the car, a brimmed fedora on his head. Not that it really hides his appearance. Even being fully covered by clothes and a knee-length trench coat, he can't really blend in.

~

Climbing out of the car a moment after Kate does, May looks at Kitty when she approaches … with a purple dragon on her shoulder. Great. First K'Nert, now Puff. Regardless, though, she gives the young woman a nod before her eyes are drawn to the fedora-wearing Dr. McCoy. Now, she wasn't entirely sure what to expect, but having been an active SHIELD agent as long as she has, she shows surprise on her face about as readily as Romanoff. In other words, you'll only know you've surprised her if she TELLS you.

"Dr. McCoy," May says by way of greeting. "Miss Pryde."

~

Kate notices the dragon first, breaking into a broad grin. "Way cuter than Henson," she declares Lockheed, raising a hand to wave to Kitty first. "Heya," she greets, glancing to May and taking the stoic expression as a cue that she probably shouldn't get too friendly. Out of line, at least. Her first reaction to Hank is surprise, though it's quickly followed by a grin that matches the one Lockheed got, along with a polite nod.

~

"Hank!" Kitty gives a wave and a grin to the furry scientist. Having known him for years, she certainly is not surprised by his appearance. "Thought you might want a friendly face," she offers to him in a quieter tone. The few times she's worked with SHIELD, she's found deals less in smiles and more in black sedans and silences. Lockheed, for his part, eyes both May and Kate once over, attempting to size them up. He sits a bit straighter on her shoulder - perhaps hearing the compliment from Kate and almost preens.

With a matched grin to Kate, the brunette waves back. "Hi! I'm Kitty. I work with Hank, er, Doctor McCoy. I take it you're with Agent May?" And that must mean also SHIELD.

~

The prelude to Logan's arrival, as it often is, is the rumbling engine of a chopper cutting off some distance away. It's been a bit past that, however, fashionably late might be the term to apply to Wolverine's punctuality with regard to this particular rendevous— but boring info drop or no, the old mutant is on top of shit. Kitty would know because he told her; both Pryde and May might because they know how the world's least killable spook operates: perimeter, secured. It doesn't pay any better getting shot at on the easy ones, for one thing.

The only reason he knows an expert better than the ones on SHIELD staff, in this field, is because Kitty does— as such, he doesn't interject anything into the meeting initially except an encompassing nod as he stalks up to lurk on Kitty's flank, special attention paid to the lauded Dr. McCoy. No shortage of the Wolverine's intent curiousity is spared for the others, or the conversation, given the stakes of the table, however. A friendly face, and a surly one straddle the fence on this op; better safe than sorry on two counts.

~

Beast looks sharply at Kitty, "You gave them my name?" He then looks back at May, "Or is this a SHIELD thing? Surveillance everywhere? You have my bank accounts as well, I presume." Because he's never 'come out' as a mutant. He's 'Beast' in the public. As far as most know, he hopes, Dr. Hank McCoy is being a reclusive scientist and it's blue and furred. His mood is not improved by this initial introduction. Kate's grin catches him by surprise and he just returns her nod with a brief sniff.

Kitty gets another glance, "I appreciate the gesture, but the fact that they now know who I am puts us all in jeopardy." He can be traced back to the Institute…and so can she. Noting Logan's approach, he offers, "We have an audience? Or is he with you?" which is directed to May and Kate.

~

"He's with us," May answers McCoy as she reaches back into her car for a tablet computer while offering a nod to Logan. It's a very, very new looking tablet computer — very likely she purchased the thing on the way to Westchester for this exact purpose. She wakes the device, then offers it to the trenchcoated scientist. "And he's the one that suggested that you might be better able to understand these substances than our own scientists." If McCoy accepts the tablet, he'll see the data that the SHIELD scientists have gleaned so far on some fluids recovered recently along with some captive individuals. "I also brought samples of the recovered substances in case you'd like to do some testing separately." If he's anything like Simmons, he'll insist on it.

Kate's grinning reaction to Lockheed and Hank goes uncommented upon by May, either because she isn't bothered by it or because the topic that has brought them all out here is just that important. Doesn't mean she didn't notice, though.

~

"Just SHIELD-adjacent, really," Kate answers Kitty with a crooked smile. "I'm Kate, Kate Bishop. Usually I work with Agent Barton, but sometimes I fill in for him." At Hank's protest, she tilts her head slightly, considering her words for a moment. "Sometimes I go by Hawkeye," she offers as an olive branch before tipping her chin toward Logan with another smile. "Short and silent." There's a curious look at the tablet, but she doesn't ask about. She does watch, though.

~

"I didn't give them your name." Kitty raises her hands, giving Hank a look with knitted brows. The phasing mutant looks down and a bit annoyed, saying in practically a whisper, "I thought you already knew them as they addressed you personally." It's clear she doesn't like the implication he just leveled at her. "I've worked with Agent May before, though, and she seems trustworthy. She was part of the Greenland mission." Meaning they already knew who she was before. And most likely where she works now.

It's clear she can feel Logan's approach and isn't startled by it. Kitty doesn't do much other than give a quick glance and a smile behind her before she's looking back to May and Kate as May gives information and Kate tries to make peace. Though she may not be a scientist, she is as curious as her nickname suggests and moves to look at the tablet - even though it may be handed to Hank. She won't intercept it, but she'll try and get a peek.

~

"SHIELD-adjacent." Logan echoes with a snort, before nodding meaningfully at Kitty, fixing her with a look of consideration before turning his focus back to McCoy, "Squarely in your neck of the woods lately, I reckon." He confirms for the sake of the wary blue doctor's sanity and security. Some mutual friends-and-associates of all stripes on the field today, yes sir; Wolverine treats it like it's all par for the course, assuming he even remembers anyone here in the first place.

The cant to his head, the sniff of his nose at a passing breeze, Logan is ever hyper-vigilant to his surroundings without even seeming to be trying. "Short 'n snarky." Is the brief, gruff greeting offered to the one operative— though it could double for May, as well. She, however, gets a matching, "Mel." as the Wolverine digs out a pack of smokes and taps one between his lips, eyes shifting among those gathered.

~

"I thought SHIELD had their own science division? Why are you coming to me with this?" Hank asks of May before he notes to Kitty, "I've never met nor spoken with them before." It's also aimed at the two SHIELD agents as he doesn't like the fact that his secrets are being leaked so easily. There's a hesitation before he takes the offered tablet carefully with clawed hands. No doubt they'll be dusting it for prints to put into their database later.

"What do you want in exchange?" is asked first before he looks between the three SHIELD agents and Kitty. "Rather…why are you asking me to look at this?"

"From what I learned about the circumstances of where and how the substances were found, informing you seems the best course of action." Despite what the Director might have to say about it. May lets McCoy take the tablet and adds, "Our scientists lack a particular perspective about these chemicals that you have." Subtle way of saying that they're not mutants. "And if I remember correctly, an individual of a similar persuasion already contributed to SHIELD previously. In Gaza." That would have been Summers.

~

Kate grins at Logan's return greeting, clearly amused. The smile fades, though, as the conversation continues, and she looks between Hank and May. "Just as a side note? SHIELD's not usually big on sharing information," she points out. "So I get being sort of suspicious, because, well. Government suits. But as long as they're talking to you, you can see them, and it's better than not knowing anything, right?"

~

Kitty snorts at Logan's description of herself, but then her expression tuns serious. "There's a metahuman slave trade happening," she tells Hank. She has no qualms with leveling with him immediately. He's already in a bad mood, she's not going to try and sugar coat anything now and as she's not SHIELD, she can fill in the blanks of May's own explanation.
"We need to find them and stop the people who are doing this. They drugged them with something and we're hoping tracking the drug will lead us to the people. They had bags of fluid there that haven't been identified. Sure, they have their own science team, but I doubt any of them are as smart as you are." That's not just Kitty buttering Hank up, she truly believes that. "We've got to stop this." Kate's extra encouragement is given some consideration and a bit of a nod. As long as everyone is upfront with everyone else, well, that may help the matter.

~

"Yer the one doin' a favor here, bub." Logan advises Hank, matter-of-factly backing Kitty's stance up, "You want compensation, maybe you field that. Natures and dangers of these compounds, weaponization potential, that's info that matters to all of us. Counteragents, clues about the production." Something that was, as mentioned, apparently largely mutant-based. "Me, smart money's on wanting my favor paid with any intel they can get on the movement of our distribution network, get one step closer to the slaver shitheels at the stinky bottom of this shitpool." Wolverine punctuates the assertion with a long draw off his cigarette, letting Hank digest the situation more fully.

"Sharin' and carin'." Not just two ladies he knows. He appends it to Pryde's idealism with juuust a touch more cynicism— but the Canucklehead /is/ clearly in agreement. There's just the slightest edge to the patient explanations to suggest the agitation under the surface; everybody involved needs to get back to the important focus, in his book.

~

"So, you think I have more experience with street drugs?" Hank offers after looking briefly at the tablet. "Or that I know about carbon-based weaponry?" He reads a moment longer before slowly looking back up at Agent May. Golden eyes peer over the rims of his spectacles before he pushes them back up onto his nose, "Do you know how many mutants there are in this world? Do you honestly think that I…or ever other mutant in the world, knows of the movements of all of the others?" Whether or not he does, he's trying to make a point in the most decorous way he can think of. "You also didn't answer my questions."

Those eyes then turn to Kate, "They're sharing because they want something. I want to know what, exactly, they want. I'm sure that your scientists can figure things out, unless…" he looks back up to May, "Does SHIELD not want to sully its hands with mutants?"

Kitty's addition to what is going on gets his attention, "Even if there were tracing elements in this, what makes you think that they could be tracked down so easily? I agree that metahuman trade must stop and I'll help. But I don't know what you expect me to find with this." He then blinks at Logan, "Do you mind using less expletives? It's highly uncouth."

~

"They're not street drugs," May offers to McCoy. "Our leading biochemist has determined that at least three of the specific chemicals in some of these mixtures are organic in origin — they resemble human spinal fluid and similar. She is still trying to determine more, but I was told that you were one of the best on the planet. In exchange, you're getting transparency. I'm giving you intel that could potentially get me and several others terminated from SHIELD. And I don't mean fired. That isn't enough for you? Look it over, then contact me at the email address included on that tablet." She then tilts her head at Kate, indicating wordlessly to get back into the car. Time to leave.

~

"Nice to meet you," Kate waves to Kitty and Hank as May calls her back to the car, taking her time about getting back to her side of the car. "And hey," she adds with another wry smile for Hank, chin tipping up. "Maybe it's just because you're the best, you know? Shouldn't be too hard to believe." And with that, she slides back into the car, already pulling out her phone to start texting.

~

Logan just nods to May— the old mutant couldn't have put it better himself. It's the kind of thing he wants individual heads he can trust mulling over.. and fast. "That's me, bub." Highly uncouth. It's all he really has to append to the affair; or at least the only bit that's even vaguely productive. Master of diplomacy is not something that appears anywhere on Wolverine's qualifications. The nod is all the thanks that the clawed Canuck gives to the SHIELD agents, right this minute— but there's no question on that front where intentions lie.

The Hank front? Well, Logan leaves that largely to Kitty, snuffing out the last vestiges of his cigarette beneath the sole of one heavy motorcycle boot as his eyes shift from Pryde to McCoy, and back again. If she wants to back up May's line with more than the big, sad eyes, that's on her. His offering is a doff of his wide-brimmed hat for McCoy, and a murmured offer of a ride to Pryde; that, or he's asking her for one.
