Bobby has been here there and everywhere with work lately, and there have been a couple of times he's been called away on emergency X-Red business. It turns out, with rain starting to come down across the eastern seaboard that the ability to errect walls of glacial ice in record time can be instrumental to diverting things like floodwaters or mudslides. Who knew?

Today, Bobby is at the Nest. The drudge work of repairing the place is largely done, and has been for a month or more, so people are really just moving around on the various projects, seeing the doctors and trying to figure out how to get on with their lives. The ice nerd at present is in the main room of the farmhouse, strumming away at his guitar.

-

Nancy's Charger pulls up and heads to the barn. Coming out soon after with her cello case, she heads to the main building of the Nest. She smiles when she sees the crowd and places her cello in the living room, kissing Bobby on the top of his head. She has some brief chats with some of the Nesters, getting some work out of the way before returning to the living room, getting out her cello case. She looks to Bobby then and gives him a punch in the arm with a smirk on her face. "I have a bone to pick with you, you jerk."

-

"Ack!" Bobby yelps, grinning as he does. "First I get kissed, then I get punched? You're liable to give me issues at this rate." He teases, still strumming nothing in particular. Just a four chord progression, so it could be anything really. Pick a song. Any song. Well, almost any song.

"What'd I do, mmm?"

-

Sitting herself down and getting her cello ready to play, Nancy shakes her head with a mock angry look at Bobby. "So, I was in school today, and just playing whatever my fingers decided to play. Usually it's classical stuff. But today! I started thinking about you while I was playing. About how we met and how we're living together now and stuff like that. And do you know what my fingers started playing, and I didn't even realize it till it was pointed out by the other students?"

-

Bobby listens. It starts out very classical but then turns into… he starts to grin. "That's 'My Girl' isn't it?" He chuckles. "Oh dear. Your goth cred. You'll need to play Wagner now or something to recover it." He's teasing of course. He likes the not-goth Nancy a lot. To be fair, he liked her before, but the fact that she's happy is nice.

"So what have you been up to?"

-

Nancy smirks at her boyfriend and nods. "Yeah, I was playing the baseline for 'My Girl' by the Temptations. You have been an absolutely terrible influence on me! I wear more colours then black now, I smile at people, and now I'm playing sappy love songs!" She wears a playful glower as she keeps playing the song, letting Bobby join in if he likes.

"Went to Jer's place yesterday. He's back. He and Illy are alive. They'd been back for about three days without so much as a word. THey forgot. Oh, and Illyana's brother is living with them now. I nearly shot him when I saw him, cause I had no clue who he was."

-

"Illyana has a brother? Er… okay. Is he… you know, magical and stuff like her?" The Ice Nerd grins at the notion that he's a terrible influence. "Yeah, I've gone and ruined and corrupted you haven't I? I've got you exaaaaacly where a want you now you happy gothling you." He switches up the tune, now playing 'I See Fire' by Ed Sheerhan.

"Well, all that sounds like… not life threatening. Which is a nice change of pace."

-

"She has two. Both older. Piotr and .. she doesn't really talk about the other one. Which, considering this one was part of the Brotherhood, it makes me wonder what the other brother is like. Seriously!" She switches what she is playing to match Bobby's tune. She chuckles and nods. "Yep, you've totally gone and de-gothed me! Jerk. Next thing you know, I'm gonna be wearing frilly sundresses with strappy sandals this summer. You just wait! And it will be all your fault."

"Well, don't think you can rest on your laurels just yet. The Nest is all about helping victims of human trafficking and I'm thinking the Boko Haram are making themselves rather a big target."

-

"Meaning you expect to get some more refugees?" Bobby looks about. "We're gonna need more room. Good thing Stark is covering expansion costs for the first six months." The low, minor tune plays on, the sound of plucked strings filling the room.

"Oh cruel strappy fate. How ever will you survive?" Yes, Bobby is teasing. Not that he'd mind Nancy in a Sun Dress. "So what's up with you and this Alien Princess thing. She hasn't come down and stirred things up yet which is… I mean I guess there's no reason for her to when she can just pluck you up, but still."

-

"Well, I don't know if I want to bring them here all the way to America. I might, if that seems like the best option. But, I think just getting those girls out of their grip would be a good start, getting them home to their families." She pauses playing when the princess is brought up.

"Well, I go up to visit the crew of the ship from time to time. I bring Ord food to reverse engineer. I don't think the Nesters are ready to meet them yet, so that's the best I can do for him. I showed you what I carry now? The princess gave that to me, to use to protect myself because I am 'soft and squishy'."

-

"Maybe that's a thing for X-Red. I'll bring it up with Berto. Might be a bit political for us, but there's a shot." Bobby muses. "And if not… might be something you can bring up with Partisan or you know, some of your other friends."

Bobby gets up and sets back down next to Nancy. "If you want to plan that, we can try."

-

Nancy stops playing and puts her cello in its case, curling up against Bobby. "Well… as much as I hate killing, a part of me honestly just can't seem to feel bad about it when it comes to that Boko Haram. And that worries me. I mean… am I starting to become like Parti? Or is it them. Are they so far gone that in my mind they don't really count as human anymore? I'm still not sure how I feel. I just know that those girls… We have to do something about it. And if X-Red wants to help, that would be awesome. But only if Parti can't help. I don't want you getting in trouble with X-Gold for getting involved with her again."

-

"Mmmmm. Honestly, X-Gold can shove it. I might have to hold back because I don't want to ruin things for the rest of X-Red. I mean, operating publically means we have to be squeaky clean, but there are plenty of vigilante hero types out there and since I'm not a cop no one gets to be mad at me for not trying to 'arrest' her or some idiocy like that." Bobby shrugs. "But I may also not be the best guy for the job and I can accept that too. If some of your other friends would be better I'll hold down the fort here instead."

-

"You know that as far as I'm concerned, you are always the right guy for the job. But, I don't want to get Team Red in trouble. Especially if things get…. bloody. The Outsiders… well, we don't worry too much about that sort of thing. Although, I think I should get some sort of thing to hide my features when I'm with them. Only so I don't get the Nest in trouble. I doubt Stark would be too happy about that." Nancy rests her head on Bobby's shoulder, watching as people go about their evening.

-

Bobby stops strumming and loops his arm around Nancy, watching also. Dinner is cooking and it smells like it's going to be good. Again.

"Maybe your alien princess can help with that." He says softly. "Like I said. We can run it by Berto. If anyone can find a legal, above board way in for us to help, it'd be him. Hey, maybe the government will ask for help. Even if we do go, doesn't mean the Outsiders shouldn't come." The ice nerd kisses her cheek.

-

Nancy shifts on the couch and turns to face Bobby, reaching to lightly brush his hair away from his face. "I'm glad that mom has finally started to like you. She actually said that now that she knows about Jericho and all that, that she thinks you're kind of nice." She leans in to softly kiss him on the lips as Charmer walks into the room. "Gah! Would you two get a room?" If not for the fact that Bobby is close enough to Nancy to be protected, he'd have likely left the living room as requested. "Yer just grumpy cause yer girlfriend is doing a practicum in Brazil with Berto's company." Charmer rolls his eyes and goes to turn on the television.

-

"Now now." Bobby grins. "She'll be back soon enough. Just don't go trying to charm Gwen while she's away. One of the two of them'll get you." The power absorber Gwen isn't immune to Charmer's charms, as it were, but she is fully capable of taking them away and putting the shoe on the other foot. Poor girl can even stand the sight of large dogs now. She still hides when a certain someone comes to visit though.

"I'm glad she's starting to lighten up too. Finally got to her that you're not gonna marry the other guy."

-

"Did I hear someone say Brazil?" a familiar voice says from outside the room. To everyone's surprise, Roberto enters, looking distracted and a little bit weary. He leans against the door jamb, raising his eyebrows at Nancy and Cold Bobby. "Granted, I may be hallucinating. The jet lag from Mumbai is kicking my ass." Apparently so — he's so out of it, he didn't remember to swear in Portuguese.

-

With Becky in Brazil, Jason AKA Charmer has been grumpy about any sort of PDA around him. He tried talking Roberto into letting him go too, but Becky wouldn't let him and made Jason take back the suggestion. Gwen has decided that she will forever be a cat person.

When a familiar voice is heard, Nancy looks over to the archway into the main living room and beams a smile. "Well, look what the cat dragged in! I was starting to think those ladies in Mumbai were keeping you with them for good!"

-

"Wouldn't blame them either." Bobby grins. "Hey Warm Twin. Pull up a chair. Take a load off. Dinner is soon. I'll get'cha a beer if you like though. What brings you by here instead of straight home?" Bobby gets up and walks over to the fridge for something cold for Berto. "You look dog tired."

-

"Ladies?" Roberto answers, sleepy eyes confused for a moment. "If only. The ladies were in Tokyo, and that was an all-too-brief stopover. This was business. Soothing ruffled investors. You know how it is." Well, 'Berto knows how it is, and at the moment he's having trouble remembering which person in the room is him. He flops in the offered chair, too lazy to pull it anywhere, and thinks to himself for a moment. "What did bring me here…? Oh, right!" He points at Nancy. "I need to get an account number and a couple of signatures. Turns out we didn't do all the paperwork we needed for the direct deposit on Becky's practicum. Also, this place is about as far as I can get from the business at the moment. I needed a break."

-

Nancy laughs. She didn't used to understand about investors but now knows about them far too well. Luckily, Pepper Potts is amazing and Tony Stark is… well, flakey enough to be more amusing then scary or annoying. She has to chuckle again as Berto says that this place is far away from business in the same breath as he brings up paperwork for Becky.

"We'll get the work done after dinner. You're joining us and no arguements. And no flirting with my mom. She's impossible to live with for days afterwards."

-

"You can flirt with Gwen though." Bobby teases. "Dinner is chicken paella I believe. Or some variation thereof."

The Cold Twin returns with a perfectly chilled beer and hands it to Berto. "You have been gone quite a long time. All work? Geeze, those investors must really have been ruffled."

"Don't tell us now though. You can regale me later at DCI when you come by the labs." Now Bobby sets himself back down enxt to Nancy. "Tell us how you're doing. Other than tired."

-

"I flirt where I want!" Warm Bobby protests, rearing up in mock indignation. The beer his cold-twin retrieves seems to mollify him, though, and he takes a thoughtful sip. "Porra — there's not a lot of room for anything other than tired," he answers with a half-smile. "I'm annoyed, a little. Some of Pai's screwups are coming to bite me in the ass, for one thing. A couple of people are acting like my being a closeted mutant was the same as perpetrating some sort of fraud on them. It's just been a very unpleasant month."

He leans back and squints at the ceiling. "Which hot one is Gwen, again?"

-

Upon hearing that Roberto has come by the Nest for a visit, the twins come racing down the stairs, though try to look calm when they enter the room together. They wear the bracelets that Mike Drakos and they created that allows the twins to not actually be touching each other to access their power. It allows them a normal life. It still doesn't work passed about 50 feet, but it's better then nothing. The girls look at Berto from the archway, nervous and shy as they brush their hair over their ears in perfect unison.

Nancy smirks. "Well, you could always suggest to them that if having a mutant in control of the company is so bad, you could always get yourself addicted to Smooth. I'm sure they would much rather have a junky in control of a huge corporation." Nancy smirks. SHe can't help it. "Gwen is the one that will take your power away and give it to me if I ask her nice enough." An empty threat since Gwen's powers don't work anywhere near Nancy.

-

"She's also the one who is nervous around dogs and hates werewolves. Long story. October is a bad month for her. I think she's upstairs hiding from the television." Which they have, not that it gets used a whole lot. Cold Bobby smiles at the twins and inclines his head in a way that suggests they should most definitely come say hi to Berto.

"Ick. Sorry. That's never pleasant." Anti Mutant prejudice is a thing and sets Bobby on edge, though he's been forced increasingly to admit that there are indeed reasons why people feel that way. It's not an excuse but it's hard to defend mutant kind with things like the Brotherhood out there. At least now he can point to the work he and Berto and Doug and Illyana and Mike have done in the past several months as a counter arguement.

-

"Gwen wouldn't do that to me! She'd feel bad," Roberto says with relaxed confidence. "Besides, you wouldn't like my powers. You'd have to spend all day in the sun. It would ruin your image." He grins broadly and takes another quick sip of beer. "And as for me, I *do* like my powers. Too much to mess with Smooth, no matter how much my guy says I'll like it." He coughs and straightens, suddenly conscious of his posture, as though he didn't mean to let that slip.

Happily, newcomers provide a distraction. He puts on a charming smile and waves to the girls. "Olá!" he greets them, seeming happier with that topic than more discussion of the prejudice they all face.

-

Over by the entrance, the twins are busy having a hushed conversation. "You say hi." "No, you do it!" "I'm not going to do it. You do it!" "I said hi to him last time! You do it!" "Yeah, last time doesn't count. We didn't have the bracelets and you were dumb as a brick. You could just as easily said hi to the wall. You do it!" Nancy can't help but smirk, trying to hide her amusement behind a hand. "Berto, could you please go over there and say hi to those girls before they explode?" she asks. She shakes her head and rolls her eyes. "Brains the size of a planet and they can't figure out how to say hi to the opposite sex."

"Yeah, me with a tan. Yech! That's actually worse then what happened today. Though it would mean I'd have to walk around naked for an hour a day in the sunshine, which I'm sure wouldn't get any complaints from my favourite ice cube." She gives Bobby a quick buss on the cheek.

When Berto says hello to the twins, they squeak in tandom and bolt for the kitchen.

-

"She was playing a sappy fifties love song." Bobby grins. "This, apparently, is my fault. And you'd look good tanned Nan. Though I think you look good all the time so I may be baised."

The ice nerd leans back, thinking for a moment of conversation that won't be too depressing or brain intensive. "Things have been fairly quiet lately. Nan was grumpy with her brother wolf and best friend for a bit but that seems to have quieted down. Now that you're back I think, actually, Nancy that arranging a meet with Koriand'r might be a good idea. Our place, hers, his, any of it would work. Outsiders and X-Red work differently but there's no reason we can't all be friends. Oh!" He snaps. "Speaking of Berto, Nancy floated an interesting idea. There's a lot of kidnapped girls in africa that need help. Bokor Haram and all that. Dunno if X-Red can legally get involved but if we can might be something worth thinking about."

-

"Yeah, you guys are never nauseatingly sappy with each other," Roberto says, giving Bobby a dry, chiding look at his cheesy line. "That 50s tune was definitely an outlier."

"Where in Africa?" he asks. "It would depend. Some of the governments there have really strong diplomatic ties with the US, some not so much. And some that do have had Friends of Humanity evangelists whispering in their ear."

He pauses for a second. "Koriand'r is the one who saw me get slimed by a dinosaur, right? Not my favorite first impression ever."

-

Nancy gives Cute Bobby a poke in the ribs. "You just have to go and tell people that you're making me soft, doncha?" Her smile is all one needs to know that she doesn't actually mind. Yeah, she loves the ice nerd and doesn't care who knows it.

"Yeah, Illyana went and…. " She stops herself and closes her eyes, taking a calming breath as apparently the topic of Illyana has Nancy's hackles up. "It's not actually my place to talk about it. And I will introduce Kori to Berto if he promises to behave. Though she knows you want to flirt with her, so maybe that might work in your favour." When the topic of Africa and the kidnapped girls is brought up, Nancy looks to Berto with a raised brow, waiting for his response. "Nigeria," she tells him when he asks.

"She's also the one I sent you photos of from my phone in nothing but a towel after her shower."

-

"Last I heard there were already international observers there or something. So we might have an in. Or maybe not. I'll leave that to you. You're the one with the contacts." Bobby is just a cool guy.

"Well yeah. Don'tcha want me to be proud of my work?" Bobby winks at Nancy before turning back to Berto. "Yeah that's her. Cute. So much so that Nancy has thus far refused to introduce us." Another tease. There hasn't really been any opportunity. "When did you get slimed by a dinosaur? Must have been before Red."

-

"Nigeria has got a really powerful fundamentalist bloc, but the government itself isn't bad. We might be able to swing it, yeah." Roberto pauses, then reaches up to pinch the bridge of his nose. "Wait, this is starting to sound too much like work. What's this about Illyana?" He raises an eyebrow at Nancy. "When I left you two were besties. No talk of my dating life until I know what's up with her."

-

Looking to Bobby, Nancy smirks and gives him a kiss. "I don't mind you being proud of your work, as long as I'm not the one you're putting on display. Go show off those snow makers or stuff." She then sticks her tongue out at him. Through the archway to the living room, the twins can be seen, peaking in from a distance but not approaching.

"Yana is still my best friend. I'm just mad at her. She went and did something in Limbo that could have gotten her killed and wouldn't let me come to help. Every time I tried to push it on her, she reminded me about the Nest and Bobby and what they would do if I died in Limbo."

-

Were he not in Nancy's null field Bobby would probably yank them over and freeze them in place in front of Berto until he warmed them up and let them go. If he ever did.

"She's fine. Stopped by the mansion, I heard, with her brother and Kitty and a couple others. Medical, I guess they were a bit banged up. They left after less than a day though, so it couldn't have been that bad." Nancy's been simmering for a while, clearly upset at certain parties. "I gather it was Limbo business though, so bad and magicky and such."

-

"'Yana did something crazy dangerous and magicky without backup or consulting anyone first?" Roberto takes a sip of beer, looking back and forth between his two friends over the bottle. When he lowers it, he's smirking. There's a sympathetic tilt to it, but it's a smirk. "You know that's basically the free space on New Mutants bingo, right?" He spares a glance at the twins, but doesn't say anything to them, and definitely not in Portuguese. He wouldn't want them to faint or something.

-

Nancy is still grumbly about it. She may be much less gothy then she used to be, but boy does she still have the ability to hold a grudge. "Yeah. It was Limbo business. And since I have nothing to protect me from magic, I couldn't go. Just some girl named Kitty and her boyfriend." Nancy makes a face, clearly not impressed with whoever this Kitty person is. Or the fact that she's close enough to Illy to get a plus one on her trip to Limbo. "Wait, Yana doing something dangerous and crazy without backup is the free space in New Mutant bingo? Oddly enough, I'm not surprised."

The twins, for all their intelligence, as still emotionally stunted from the years of living as mentally handicapped unless touching the other. And so, they continue to bicker and argue over who should go say hi to the super hot guy. Meanwhile, Shane, who has gone unnoticed by the entire Nest for months now, sighs as he watches the twins.

-

"Nan, she took three people as backup." Bobby reminds. Since now apparently there's something weird with her brother wolf? He doesn't know and tries not to think about it too much. "You told me at first she didn't want to take any, so that, at least is an improvement." Bobby looks over at the twins. He can solve this arguement. He gets up, grabs each twin by one hand and hauls them over in front of Berto. He'd actually shove them into the Brazillian's lap, but the two of them might make an awkward fit.

-

"Don't rag on Kitty. She's cool," Warm Bobby says, then grins. "Well, okay, she was kind of weird when I first met her, but she got over it. Who's she dating, these days?" As Iceman gets up, he nods at his twin. "And he's got a point. If she told you about it beforehand and then let you persuade her to change her plans? That's actually a pretty huge amount of trust from Illyana. She didn't ask me about whatever it was, if that makes you feel any b—"

The twins have now been deposited in front of him, so Roberto cuts himself off. He raises his eyebrows at the other Bobby; he had assumed Frosty was going to get another beer. "Hi. Nice to see you both again," he says, a smile teasing at the corners of his mouth.

-

Nancy grumbles. "Yeah, she took three others. Jer had to go, cause it had to do with him. And yeah, taking three is an improvement, but she should have taken me. Not some … old highschool friend whose been gone for years." She crosses her arms over her chest as Bobby goes over to get the twins, muttering under her breath. "Best friend stealing harpy."

"No, I didn't persuade her to change her plans. This Kitty person did though. So… yeah. Thanks. Thanks for reminding me that Illyana trusts this Kitty person more then me."

The twins stand there, having been dragged over by Cold Bobby, staring wide-eyed at Roberto. As much as they were talking a moment ago, they seem utterly speechless now. Shane gets up and heads to his room, grabbing a beer on his way upstairs.

-

Bobby shoots Berto an apologetic look and goes to hug Nancy. The three of them are in the main room of the farmhouse at the Nest, a large affar capable of housing most of the Nutates. Berto currently has a pair of twins, identical, in front of him who are… babbling. "Nancy, she did what she thought best, and you could have gone yourself it sounded like, if you'd been willing to risk, you know…" Her not coming back. He gets why she didn't. Being a mature adult is like that sometimes.

"Anyway I… Nan your hip is beeping."

-

Roberto stares at the two girls, who stare silently back. He offers another friendly smile, but they're too shy to be drawn out that easily. Eventually he just gives them a sort of apologetic nod and leans to the side to address nancy again.

"I'm betting that it was more a matter of hearing the same thing from two people she trusted than just one of you or the other," Roberto says. "And you should give Kitty a chance. She's a great big geek, but a harpy, she is not." The dark-skinned Brazilian takes a sip of his beer before setting it down on the end table next to his chair and smiling at Nancy. "Then again, the three of you working together…? Maybe it's best that you keep hating her."

-

Nan is being a moody brat and she knows it. She knows that Illyana had put the decision of whether or not to go in Nancy's lap and she hated making the mature decision. And Nancy has found a scapegoat in someone she's never met and is taking it. Knowing Nancy though and her pattern with friendships, Nan and Kitty will likely be thick as theives in no time.

Nancy hugs Bobby, letting his closeness and cuddliness drag her out of her blue funk about Illyana. The twins look at a loss, trying to come up with something to say that doesn't make them sound like they are not wearing their bracelets and on opposite sides of the room. They glance to each other, hoping the other will come up with *something*

Looking down at her hip, Nancy stands up. "Okay, out! Everybody out! Except you two," she says, pointing to the pair of Bobbies as she pushes the twins and everyone else out of the room before closing the sliding doors. "Boys, get ready to meet royalty. Berto, you hit on her and I'll so play bungalabishi with you." WHatever she just said, it doesn't sound like something Berto would want.

-

Considering it has been a while since she has heard from Nancy and an invitation to this 'Nest', Kori decides to make her descent. No further Haloween shopping with Roy and Lian, no more Disney cartoons…

Her brain was about to burst anyway and spatter Disney colors on Roy's walls and traumatize his small halfling. Sending Nancy a heads up in her comm link within seconds there is that comet streak across the sky, a light that looks as if impaact is about to head right for that house, but just before the light becomes too blinding and yet another mess is made it comes to an abrupt halt.

Shadows separate from the feminie figure that hovers just before the front door, armored feet touching down silently as that long mass of flame huen hair falls down gingerly as if only disturbed by a breeze to settle in it molten form down the length of bare spine.

What's the custom here? Her ship she just beams into, Roy's she just walks in. So for now, she stands staring at the front door as if it was her worst enemy, and if she was Kryptonian she /may/ have laser eye'd it out of her way…

-

Bobby grins. "And there's the mysterious princess herself. I think…" He goes over and opens the door… not having really been prepared for what he sees other than the pic that Nan sent him. "Um. Hello Princess Koriand'r. Please. Come in." He steps back gesutring for her to come in. "You already know Nancy, right? And that's Roberto DaCosta."

-

Da Costa seems relieved when the twins are ushered out the door. The awkwardness was getting a little out of hand. "Bunga-que?" he asks Nancy, curious in spite of himself. "I'm really good at games." He stands up and dusts off his shirt, but doesn't otherwise make any particular preparations for formality. He has met enough royals not to be too perturbed by the notion. He has also, frankly, hit on enough royals not to be as worried about the whole off-with-his-(other)-head thing as Nan apparently is.

He waves, eyebrows rising a bit as she enters the room. "You can call me Bobby or 'Berto, if you prefer," he says, giving her a playful smile. "I hear you and Nancy have been getting up to some trouble lately. Good to meet you."

-

Nancy is happy for the total change of topic. She goes to the door and welcomes Kori as she comes into the farmhouse. "Come on in and make yourself comfortable. I was going to come and visit you tomorrow up in the ship to talk about things." She looks over at Berto, eying him with a smirk. "This would be the gentleman I told you about. The one I took pictures of you for? When you were wearing only the towel."

-

Kori is used to the looks, it's pretty normal in the factor of banking on what comes out of their mouths after whether or not they keep their teeth or conciousness. Kori has to learn to be more gentle.

Bobby is given a smile, one that follows through to Berto with a rise of her hand and fingers curling in a small ripple to wave in greeting as well, pausing at Nancy's statement about the pictures, tilting her head now, the smile never fading.

"Yes that was a fun night with surprise visits. For some reason they seem to think me in simply a towel is fun to send."

Kori does not look the least bit perplexed as she makes her way to a seat and claims it rather uncerimoniously. "Oh? what things?" There were some she could thing of, but let's compare first!

-

Bobby hasn't ever seen the Princess in person and she is a very formidable presence indeed. Suffice it to say that he's not got Berto's gift of gab so he just moves over to Nancy's side. He has no idea really what kind of trouble Koriand'r and Nan have been getting up to and he's kind of morbidly courious how she'll get along with Berto.

-

"Gentleman?" Roberto echoes, raising one skeptical eyebrow at Nancy. "Uh-oh. What stories have you been telling, exactly?" He grins, shakes his head, and turns to the newcomer. "Don't believe a word she says." He snags his nearly-empty beer bottle from the end table next to where Koriand'r has taken his seat. "Drinks?" he offers, taking a step toward the kitchen but pausing to hear what everyone would like before he leaves.

-

Nancy heads over to sit down. "I was talking to the Bobbies here about the possibility of us Outsiders going to Nigeria to deal with those Boko Haram guys. I know I keep telling you I don't want to kill anyone, but … those guys for some reason just don't seem to ellicit the same feeling from me. Other then that, I'm kind of curious about what trouble I've been getting into." SHe looks over to Roberto, smirking. "And do remember, before you answer that, that Koriand'r was kind enough to give me one of her laser pistols. And stun still hurts like and SOB."

"I have told her that you are a constant flirt who was saying how you'd like to bang an alien princess. In other words, I told her exactly what you said." She sticks her tongue out at her friend with a grin. "Just water would be fine,

-

Sunset huen skin is relatively bared, so the towel left more to the imagination then her armor does, the metal not making a sound as she reclines back in the chair and crosses her legs, suited in purple armor from toe to mid thigh, at the points silver rims and outlines to contrast agaisnt skin, etching contours and lines where armor meets skin even in the straps that arch upward over hips in a dual stretch, just the same as how they reach across her chest. The only thin lacking to make the armor whole is the shoulder pads and the fullness around arms and forearms that are limited to straps as well.

Meeting not war.

As one settles at Nancy's side and the other is defined more and more Kori simply leans forward and props her chin in her hand, elbow taking rest upon upmost knee. "Stun is 50000 volts. Humans make messe sof themselves after short durations…" Not going further brows rise as Nancy speaks on the matter of Nigeria. "That all depends on your personal belief on what should grant death." She says it so casually. "What are they doing exactly?"

Glancing back to Berto the small smirk returns. "You can /bang/ me a water." No, not speaking from her alien ignorance there, she's been hanging out with Roy too much to be clueless in that regard.

-

Bobby blinks. Did she just say… no, no no. He must have misheard. "Er, Beer for me Berto." He may need one. "So uh, I'm sorry, should we call you 'Your Highness' or something like that? Nancy hasn't really gone over the, er, customary courtesies."

-

"Graças a Deus! I was worried you were being too flattering," Roberto says, laughing at Nancy's reply. "I would hate the real me to disappoint. Unfortunately, I'm too jet-lagged to live up to that kind of reputation, either. We'll start with water and work our way up to lechery, certo?" He smirks over at Kori, then heads for the door. Over his shoulder, he says: "Two waters, two beers. Try to play it cool, twin. Fussing over titles is just awkward."

-

Nancy chuckles, leaning against the ice nerd Bobby. "Kori has never asked me to refer to her by any title, so, and do correct me if I'm wrong Koriand'r, I don't think titles really matter to her, hun." She hears as the alien princess requests a water and just blinks. Did she? No… no, it must be just Nancy's perpetually dirty mind working overtime.

When Kori asks for more details on what the people are doing in Nigeria, she gives details. It's only what has been read in the news, but it's enough. Hundreds of girls being kidnapped to be used as sex slaves, most of them in the 12-14 range. The calmness that Nancy has while explaining this is remarkable, though Iceman probably knows the tone in Nancy's voice enough to know that calm is just an anger so hot as to make her willing to actually kill.

-

Bobby's inquiry gets him the smirk broadening into a smile. "Titles do not matter to me, here, we are friends and I have yet to earn you respect to be regarded in that title by you." In Tamaran rank might be born into but much is /earned/ and it bleeds through here, right along with respect.

"So you may just call me Kori, or Star….fire.."

For a moment the language Berto speaks she does not pick up on, trying to piece it together, but fleeting attentions like a feline one thing after another as she watches his disappear into another room and then…

Nancy is talking and her words are heard but in pupilless emerald gaze it is hard to see where exactly she is focusing, perhaps just awaiting on her drink and Berto, or in thought….

Thought is about it as Nancy speaks on what is going on in Nigeria, one corner of her right eye twitches, along with that of her upper lip that slowly recoils more and more as Nancy fills her in.

"They deserve more then death. That is a mercy." The hand that had cupped her chin began to take on a light perse glow from fingertips, a heat building that eminated from her and even made her recoil from her own rage-building touch.

Jolting to a stand it happened quickly and fluidly, her words lacking any life, falling monotone and apathetic. "Why have we not left yet?"

And with the speed in which she left, any papers in the rom will flutter up and scatter, books would fly open and page through alone - the front door left agape as the only thing in her wake is that comet's tail of enraged heat.

-

"Someone… had better call K'tten… she needs to be ready to retrive her Princess in case she starts blowing entire third world nations up." Bobby says as papers flutter everywhere.

"Er… Nan, you wanna do that? Maybe you can talk her down?"

Bobby looks over. "Er… well that went pretty well considering, mmm?"

-

'Berto reenters the room holding two bottles in one hand and two glasses in the other, just in time to watch the streak of light that is Kori vanish through the doorway. "Just one water, then," he says, adapting to the new situation with the ease of someone who frequently deals with superheroic comings and goings. He does let himself sound a little resigned as he wryly adds, "So much for the meet-cute."

He hands Cold-Twin and Nancy their drinks and flops into the chair Starfire just vacated. "She is stunning, though," he tells Nancy, raising his glass in her direction. "Thanks for talking me up to her so well."

-

"Okay… so, mentioning terrorist rape cults kidnapping young girls seems to really piss off Kori. Mental note." She turns to kiss Bobby on the lips. "I have to go talk her down before she blows up half of Africa because she doesn't know which one is Nigeria." She grabs one of the waters, downs it quickly. "Sorry, Berto. Great catching up with you again. Yer as cute as always. Gotta go." Nancy races to the hall, grabbing her leather jacket and the shoulder holster with her alien blaster. She pulls out the comm off her hip. "K'tten? It's Nan. Beam me up. I gotta talk to Star." And in a shimmer of light, she's gone.

-

"Well she seemed to take a shine to you anyway, Berto." Bobby grins as he takes the beer. "She is rather pretty though. I dunno, I think I retract what I said previously about you not flirting with her. Flirt away. If you can keep up. She seems pretty hyper."

-

"If I can keep up?" Despite the jet lag, Roberto manages to convey actual offense as he echoes that phrase. "This is me we're talking about, remember?" He touches his chest as though to remind Bobby who he's speaking with. "Merda. Have a little faith." Of course, in spite of his words, he's still running so far behind everyone else that he has missed his chance to say goodbye to both of the girls. His weariness descends again as he stands up and collects the now-unnecessary water glasses. "Ugh. I need to plug back into what we're doing here. That trip was exhausting."

-

"You need a couple of days to yourself first, it looks like." Bobby says now a bit more gently. "Take some time. Relax. Go clubbing or, you know, hang out with friends. Kitty's back at the mansion now, teaching. You could catch up with her. She's dating an older guy, I heard. Rumor around the school anyway, walked out of her room wearing one of his shirts." He shurgs. "Could just be rumor. I don't stop by much so I'm notas plugged in."

-

Roberto pauses at the door, glasses in each hand. "Huh. I wonder who it is?" He vanishes, this time for just a second, before returning empty-handed. He sits down, leaning forward and running his hands over his face. He gives the other Bobby a wry look. "You seriously think I should go clubbing in this shape? I'm a disaster." He glances upward, then flashes a smile and amends, "Well, okay, around one in the morning I'll probably be bouncing off the walls. But really, I should probably just be doing my best to come down."

-

"Not one of the other instructors. If it were I'd have heard a name. You'll just have to find out yourself, I imagine." Bobby flashes a grin. Berto's more than capable of that. "And I didn't mean right this second, silly. Right now you need about twenty hours of sleep. I can tie you to the roof naked if you like so that you'll be in a prime spot when the sun comes up."

-

Roberto shakes his head. "I swear, I gotta fend 'em off with a stick. Any excuse to tie me up naked," he says with mock disapproval. "That's just inconsiderate, though. Do you want to give the poor twins an aneurysm? They're just out doing their morning chores, happen to glance up at the roof, realize they were sleeping just a few feet below THAT." He grins wickedly at Bobby. "Not to mention the effect it would have on Nancy. I could never do that to your relationship."

-

Now it's Bobby's turn to grin. "So considerate Berto. That's what I like about you. Always thinking of others." He sighs with a laugh. "Seriously though, there is a spare room if you want to crash here. Though you've got a nice place, so I wouldn't blame you for headed back tonight."

-

"Given the number of women and, hell, probably men here who would try to take advantage of the situation, I'm not sure that's a good idea," Roberto says, not even pretending to be serious as he finally settles in for a few sips of his beer. "I don't know. Maybe I should stick around rather than sitting all alone on top of my skyscraper." He pauses, then gives the other Bobby a slightly teasing look. "To think, I put all those bunk beds in the headquarters, and still not a single sleepover."

-

Bobby grins. "What can I say? Maybe it was the Nazi Twins. That sort of ruined all the furniture." He shakes his head with a smile. "Though I could have sworn Doug and 'Mara were still living there. Or did Mara head back to Nova Roma? I have a hard time keeping track. Or maybe Simon just secretly gives everyone disapproving looks." Simon's got an amazing disapproving look though so far Bobby's only really seen him use it on Berto.

-

"Yeah, Amara's back in Brazil." Roberto looks wistful for a moment, then nods. "Doug's there. But just a couple of us… it's not quite the same as having a whole group of people around you." The Brazilian takes a moment to consider what he just said, then suddenly nods. "Actually, I think I will stick around here tonight, if you don't mind. Have a nice little nostalgia party."

He smiles, then shakes his head. "You won't have any issues with Simon, so long as you're punctual and consistent. I am not notably either of those things, so he's always on my case. But that's why I keep him around."

-

"Better than a yes-man I suppose." Bobby laughs. "And Berto, you're always welcome here. I know a few of the 'nutates have asked about you and your visits." Even if Berto didn't participate in the rescue the man makes a hell of an impression. And he's charming and witty and generally very good company. A lot of the folks there, young and old, men and women, like having him around for reasons that are as varied as the people. And not all of the women have crushes on him of one kind or another.

Only most of them.

-

One of the women that doesn't have a crush on him shows up in a shimmer of light. Showing back up in the living room, Nancy looks exhausted, and yet she was only gone for a half hour or so. She pretty much collapses bonelessly into the closest chair. "Okay… Nigeria is not going to be wiped off the face of the planet tonight. Kori has promised me she will give me 48 hours to figure out what needs to be done to make sure we don't get the UN or something like that breathing down our collective necks. So… " Nancy looks to Berto. "Know anyone in Nigeria I can talk to about this cause it's going to happen and there is nothing I can do about it. It's a matter of when, not if."

-

"Very much better than a yes-man. I fall into bad habits if I don't have someone pushing me," Roberto admits, looking uncharacteristically glum. "In fact…" He's interrupted by Nancy's sudden arrival, and perks up enough to pay attention as she explains what she has accomplished. "48 hours is not a great window of time," he admits. He knows that his group relies on him to grease the political wheels so that they can do their thing, though, so his mouth forms into a straight line and he nods. "I'll get us the okay to go in there. But you'll probably have to agree to some pretty strict rules of engagement."

-

"Good luck." Bobby sighs. "The Outsiders don't play well with rules, from what I hear. But maybe we can get Koriand'r to bend a little bit if she knows that other people are on the job." Because they're Nancy's friends, Bobby is familiar in general terms if not specific ones, with the Outsider's roster. Generally speaking they're all very reasonable people… until you push their buttons. Berto might be a bit surprised though, at who exactly that includes.

-

Nancy groans and rubs her face. "Bobby's right, Berto. The Outsiders… there is a reason we call ourselves that. We get the job done. And we don't worry about the rules of how to do it. I mean, hell, *I'm* the diplomat of the group. What does that say about us?" She runs her hands through her hair. "Okay, I will call my brother about this tomorrow and see if he has any ideas of what we can do. He has contacts with SHEILD and stuff like that, so that might help. I'm not going to worry about it right now."

-

"It's not going to do those girls any good if we kill them along with their captors, or burn down the homes they want to go back to, or incite reprisals against their families after we leave," Roberto says, a lot more testily than he intended. He immediately regrets his harsh tone and deflates, leaning forward with his fingers to his temples. "I don't — I don't mean that that's what your people would do, it's just… We're going into someone else's country and we have to be careful. We could leave it even more dangerous than we found it."

-

Bobby puts his hands up with a chuckle to deflect anything from either Berto or Nancy. Unnecessarily as it turns out. "I know, Berto, I know. And they're not dumb people. Just people with a different take on things. I get the feeling a lot of them have stories as bad as ours, if not worse. The kind of thing that tends to harden people. I'm not saying they're right, or wrong. Just… you know. They're not bad people and I think we can work with them. I hope we can anyway. I guess we'll find out."

-

Looking up at Berto, Nancy doesn't seem at all upset by his blow up. "That's pretty much exactly what I said to Kori to stop her from flying over there and killing the entire nation. Trust me, I don't want to make things worse for those girls. That's not what the Nest is about. I wanted Kori to *help* me free those girls. And she will. She's just… slavery is not something she takes lightly. Comes from having been one." She stands up and goes over to Roberto, taking his face in her hands. "Trust me. As mad as I am at these guys, I'm *not* going to let innocent people die. No one dies on my watch that doesn't have to."

-

"I know, I'm sorry. I just — I'm on edge," Roberto says, giving Nancy a deeply apologetic look. "I mean, God knows I'll ignore a dumb rule from time to time. I don't know what made me snap at you like that." He shuts his eyes, sighs, and after a second, pulls back from Nancy a little. "Actually, I do. I'm tired, and I know I'm going to have to move heaven and Earth to get those 'rules' at all. I was being selfish." He gives them both a look, then says, "I think I'd better go. I don't think that a relaxing sleepover is in the cards after all."

-

Bobby eyes Berto for a long moment and then nods. "Alright, not here. Nan, I think the nest can take care of itself for a night. Let's drive Berto home. Get some takeout. You can follow me in your car. I'm not letting Warm Twin drive as tired as he is." Bobby holds out a hand for Berto's keys, smiling. "We'll go up to your pad and talk about nothing even remotely related to work. Maybe pass out while watching bad sci-fi?"

-

Nancy grabs Berto's hand. "You ain't goin' nowhere, hot stuff. Someone said sleep over?" She smirks, waggling her eyebrows. "Actually, I think I know exactly why you're on edge, and you'll have to excuse me for asking, but Berto? When was the last time you got laid? You've been all business for the last little while. When was the last time you had some fun? You know, making a girl think you were just the best thing since sliced bread, taking her home and making her scream so loud that window rattled in New Jersey? Not that I'm offering. Just from what I've seen of you, that's how you relax."

She heads then over to her Bobby and slips an arm about his waist. "Or we could watch crappy sci-fi. Hey, we could watch that film with Tom Cruise in it and laugh at him getting killed over and over."

-

"A gentleman never tells," Roberto answers, teasing Nancy a little with the term she used earlier. But his confident smile slips after a second, and he admits, "It may have been a while." And, he doesn't mention, her lurid description of it sure as hell didn't help with any sexual frustration he might be feeling. "Fine. You guys win. Bad movies it is. But I'll have to be up early tomorrow…"
