Who can say why a god-wolf does what he does. Sometimes it's for reasons that seem perfectly normal and at others… well, Fenris can be a bit inscrutable. Like today when he showed up at the Clocktower and invited Babs out to tea. In New York. Which they would reach via teleport. He was sort of insistent. Why? Well, it's possible he might say if asked. And then again…

At any rate, there is tea. In a tea house. These exist in the US though they can be hard to locate. This particular one is rather high end but Fenris doesn't seem to mind. He breaks the ambiance of the place a bit, projecting that aura of unease, the sense that a predator is about, but there's not much he can do about that.

-

As they arrive in the teahouse, the redhead's eyes go wide. "Fenris, I really wish you had warned me, I would have dressed more appropriately." She murmurs. It doesn't matter what her companion is wearing and although Babs isn't particularly concerned about her appearance, fitting in is second nature to her. Don't draw attention to yourself and the wheelchair is enough to do that on its own. "Do I ask why you invited me, or should I wait?" the woman does have a dry sense of humour and her eyes sparkle with amusement.

-

Elijah Snow steps out of the backroom of the tea house, talking quietly in Mandarin to an old, crooked backed man. Snow says something inaudible and the old man cackles, shaking his head and holding his stomach for a moment. He gestures for Snow to sit. The white-haired man seems to refuse, but it's all a show, a song and dance of manners, until he accepts and finds himself seated near the pair as a waiter is sent urgently to fetch tea with a stomp of the old man's cane. He gives Barbara the kind of leer usually reserved for the much more spry before he finds his seat, jabbering something quick and rude to Snow that makes the occultist just tut and shake his head.

-

Already sitting at the tea house, Morien is enjoying his favorite cup of tea a mixture of Youthberry and Wild Orange Blossom. He has just taking his cup, and moves few tables away from a two young women. One is a mother who has a baby that is crying hysterically.

The young mother leans over while trying to soothe her child. "She normally doesn't cry like this. I think I just going to take her home. The woman gets up to leave, while Morien raises a finger to massage his right temple, shaking his head in guilt.

-

Fenris looks over at the older man. The Old Wolf has quite a glower and he's not afraid to use it. Babs is his guest. Emphasis on his. What? He's a wolf. Some things don't translate horribly well. "Let us just say I believed it to be important that you be out of your Tower for a while. It's not as though anyone's going to come calling, asking for you to let down your hair." The man chuckles. He sniffs. He kind of smells… magic. Odd. Seems he's not the only 'unique' being here. "In any case, I recommend the Kyoto Cherry Rose." Beat. "You still smell of Sea Magic, by the way."

-

Babs doesn't miss a lot and she hasn't missed that interaction. The old gentleman gets a patented Babs staredown before she returns her attention to Fenris. A small smile pulls at her lips "Sea Magic still….Does that bother you, Fenris?" He's mentioned it before and given a typically oblique warning, and she is teasing. "And as to my visitors…. you just never know however, I do appreciate the invitation and I will, as you say, let down my hair. The tea sounds lovely." She's quite relaxed in Fenris' company and settles back into her chair.

-

Elijah Snow has the tea brought out, poured in special, antique cups. Literal bone china, actually, carved and ornately latticed. At the glares towards his companion, Snow feels the need to make amends, "I apologize for Master Fong. He seems to have come to feel one of the benefits of age is being able to do as he pleases without repercussions. He was always a lech, mind you, he just shows it more these days," he says, "Nonetheless, if you wish recompense, I would happily cover your meal for the trouble," he says, eyes flicking over to Morien at the babe's reaction in the man's presence.

-

As the young mother departs, Morien pads his pockets and lets out a frustrated sigh as he turns around and realizes that he left his smart phone on the table. As he quickly walks back to the table to retrieve his phone, his gaze falls on the antique cups. Morien pauses in front of the table and stares at them for a moment, before blinking his eyes. "My apologizes, your cups caught my eye. I am amateur collector of antiques."

Morien reaches his left hand to grab his smart phone from his table, while still peering at the cups. "Master Fong must really admire you for allowing to drink from a set. It must have been in his family for years."

-

"The apology is appreciated." Fenris smiles. His smile is a bit… off putting. Not because he wants it to be, but because he cannot fully hide what he is. "Monetary recompense won't be necessary, but I do appreciate the offer." He pauses, glancing over to Babs. "I'm Jeremiah Wolfson, by the way, and this is Barbara." He doesn't offer Babs last name. She can if she likes.

"The cups are rather fine, are they not Babs? And no, that scent does not trouble me. I was merely noting. You must have seen him again recently." Which amuses the Old Wolf.

-

Looking at the man who had offered the apology, Babs raises an eyebrow. "The apology shouldn't have been necessary." she murmurs but lets the topic drop. As Fenris has already introduced her, she adds nothing more. Looking carefully at the cups, it seems the best thing to do, Babs smiles at Fenris "Yes, they are quite nice…" that eyebrow is raised again "Him, Fenris?" The amateur collector receives a small smile.

-

Morien looks up for the cups with a pleasant smile on his face, and even though he was not being talked too, he still introduces himself to the couple, "It is a pleasure to meet you, Jeremiah and Barbara. My name is Morien Washington." He peers back down at the cups and says, "There are quite lovely cups, I had a chance to own an entire set once." He shifts from one leg to another and says, "My apologizes, I did not mean to interrupt people with talks of antique cups. He repeats the name and says, "I recommend trying the youthberry tea with the wild orange blossom.

-

"Morien." Fenris murmurs. "An unusual name." He glances over to Babs. Socialization was rather the point of this exercise. That, and avoiding a small prophecy in which Babs was shot to death after having gone for coffee on a whim about ten minutes ago. "Shall we invite Mister Washington to join us, Babs?" To Babs own question he merely taps his nose as if to say 'wolf, remember?'

-

Babs smiles at Morien and Fenris, "By all means, do join us. Youthberry with Wild Orange Blossom did you say?" Indicating a chair, Babs gestures gracefully "Do tell us about that tea set you once owned." Fenris gets a wry smile and a quirked eyebrow…. Babs does that a lot around Fenris.

-

"Thank you are really too kind." Morien goes to take his seat at the table with the duo." "Really, I think that is indeed high compliments coming from someone with last name of, "WolfSon". Morien settles into the chair, while placing his cup of tea in front of him. "Morien was a Moorish son of Knight of Camelot, perhaps my mother wished that the name would instill some level of chivalry in me, alas the only acts of bravery I had ever done is stand against corporate raiders. Morien takes a long sip from his tea, "One came up for Auction once in Thailand five years ago. It had been given to a an African or Moorish mercenary for payment in protecting some spice shipments when he left his employer, so the story or the myth goes. Anyway there was a personal symbol of the mercenary on the cups and the teapot. I am the time I did not have the necessary funds to win the auction." Morien takes another sips, "Perhaps, they might find themselves on auction again."

-

"Fascinating. I'm afraid I can't claim nearly so distinguished a lineage for my name. Jeremiah… was a bullfrog." Yes, that's a joke. The apocalypse wolf is making jokes. And now Babs has proof. "Perhaps, given enough time. I find these things are generally cyclic." Pause. "How is the tea? Babs and I are both rather avid fans of unusual tea."

-

"Such a distinguished bloodline Morien and a fascinating story." Babs is indeed enjoying the tea and as Fenris makes his joke, she just rolls her eyes. "The tea is lovely and yes, I like different teas. A tea for every mood if you will." The woman is quite relaxed in the company, something that doesn't happen often, but then you would normally find her behind a set of monitors in her Clocktower observing the world, not interacting with it.

-

"Well, the name comes from an obscure Camelot tale. It is not like I am related to a knight of Camelot." Morien orders another cup of tea, before turning back to the table, "There is a lot of weird stuff out there, but who actually believes that Camelot exists. My mother just had high hopes for me. My mother was an average woman who read a lot, good at saving money, and instilling her dreams of collecting antiques in one of her sons. An amused looks comes across his face as he says, "I have probably one of the most boring bloodlines of anyone walking the planet." Morien chuckles to himself at his perceived inside joke, before looking at the duo, "Wait, you have never heard of Morien Washington, CEO of UmojoLand Unlimited. We are not as big as Wayne, Stark, Lexcorp, but I thought we were a little bit popular.

-

"I'm not really into financials." Fenris says. WHich is not quite true. It's just that if someone hasn't been around at least four or five decades, he doesn't tend to notice. Mortal finance and politics are so evanescent.

"Well, there is something to be said for a bloodline being special because it's yours, would you not say Babs?"

-

"I like to believe Camelot existed" Babs says quietly and gives a small shrug. "And I truly hope Morien" a smile appearing her face and hers dancing with mirth "that your mother never hears you call her average… She raised sons, and quite well by the looks of it, that's not an average thing at all." This from the bratling wrangler. "Unfortunately I haven't heard of your company, perhaps its not in my area of expertise. What is it your involved with?" Taking some time to enjoy the tea, Babs nods to Fenris "Absolutely, family is important."

-

"We have major holding in transportation, farming, medicine equipment, private security, and computer parts." Morien says, "We recently require some minor holding in technology firms and we got a couple foot prints in the digital music business." Morien sips on his tea again. "We do a lot of business in South America, Africa, and North America.
Morien tilts his head towards his left shoulder as he looks between the two, "What are your two area of expertise?"

-

"I'm a Park Ranger." Jeremiah says rather blandly. Which is true. He is. He's also quite rich. Comes of being a couple thousand years old. "With some interests in ancient civilizations." Also true. Though he was there, so… you know. Interests isn't quite the word. "And I love good tea, and good company." He nods to Babs.

-

"You do like flatter, Fenris" Babs laughs. "I'm in IT Security, freelancer basically. And if it wasn't for my friend here" Babs inclines her head towards Fenris "I would be quite happily tucked up behind my computers. I don't get out much" Now it's her turn to cant her head "Which technology firms, may I ask?"

-

"Ancient civilizations, interesting." Morien settles back in his chair and offers up another pleasant smile. "Well, I know who to call when I hear about another antique. You can never be sure if a story about antique is true or not unless you have time to speak with historian, and you will be amaze how many time a corporate board laughs at you when you talk about throwing more money into hiring someone who know about about art and history. Morien reaches into his wallet as he rattles off some corporate tech firms that are known to operate in South America and Africa. "They are not as big as any firm in America, but I believe they are growing markets." He hands her a card to Babs and looks back at Fenris, "You must be an amazing friend. Life is far too fleeting to spend indoors."

-

"I am an interesting friend, or so I like to think. Babs takes some work to draw out, but once you do she's very worth knowing." Flattery? Yes. Truth? Yes. Fenris smiles over at the red haired woman. "My knowledge is not encyclopedic but if you wish I can always give you an opinion. I have a lot fo time to study when I'm not relocating bears or chasing off coyotes." Or rather, talking to them to tell them to take it elsewhere.

-

Taking Morien business card, Babs takes time to study it before slipping it into her bag and retrieving one of her own. Handing the business card to Morien "Should you find need of someone who knows their way around computer security, Morien. I'm told I'm passably good." Fenris gets a mock frown "I'm not /that/ hard to draw out. I just like my computers." and the safety of the Clocktower. "An amazing /and/ interesting friend then."

-

"If you are able to give lesson to people in computer security, then I might give you a call." Morien elaborates further, "I like to bring some of the people here to the States to work on more state of the art equipment for a couple of months for additional training and team building. As stated before these are emerging markets, so we pay for instructors to come and teach. I think we offer a good incentive package for our instructors and we still provide them per diem even if they live in the city. Morien peers down at the card and scans it with his smart phone, "I hope you do not mind if I pass it on to anyone else that might need someone to bypass a computer security system."

Morien sips on his tea again, "Perhaps, I will call you myself also to get to know you, but I digress." Morien turns his attention at Fenris and he looks him over "Relocating bears and coyotes that sounds completely dangerous. I guess are more a son of wolf than a bullfrog.

-

"Animals can be reasonable, so long as you understand what it is they're after. Food and shelter, like most people. They just have different ways of going about it." Fenris grins. He's legendary for never needing a tranq gun. Helps, again, that he can talk to them.

"I jest, Babs, though you must admit your living situation is somewhat out of a fairytale." Maiden in the tower and all that.

-

"I've never considered training as an option, but it sounds interesting. I'ld like to know more." Babs responds. "By all means, please pass my details on. I work Freelance, contacts are contacts" and potential Oracle assets. Babs eyes widen slightly at the digression but ignores the comment as she turns her attention back to Fenris "That seems to be a themeatic joke amongst my friends lately…" she grins back.

-

"It is your apartment as small as wooden shoe?" Morien take sympathetic sigh, "It seems that apartment prices have gone high in the city. I am thinking about moving out of my condo, and getting a house in the burbs." Morien says, "It was a pleasure to meet you both. If you ever need my help, or see me drinking tea somewhere, please do not hesitate to come and speak to me." Morien nods to Fenris and says, "Next auction, I will definitely call you for your expertise."

-

"Of course. I'll be happy to lend whatever help I can." He's good at identifying things if less good at figuring out what they should be worth. Humanity's fascination with old things bemuses him.

Babs gets a grin. "Gee. I wonder why."

-

"More metaphorical I think, Morien. I'm accused of hiding myself away in my ivory tower… since my accident, I've been very reclusive…" Babs really does live in a tower. "It's been a pleasure meeting you too and thank you for the offer, if I see you, I will say hello."

-

Morien stands up from his chair and says, "I look forward to that hello." Morien rises from his chair and put his smart phone in his pocket and takes his cup with him. As he turns for the duo and walks outside of the cafe, he recalls the times he has lost the use of one of his limbs and mumbles to himself, "It is fleeting."
