It's late. Dark, now and the travelers have stopped to build a fire and bed down for the night. Fire tends to repel some creatures and attract others but the locals haven't been screaming at Jericho to not build a fire, so he does. And he sits, puzzling over this whole really weird situation very slowly in that quiet way that the hacker does. He's really more prone to watching and listening than anything else. Other than that he's not visibly doing much. Munching on some trail rations from the Starfire. Internally he's reviewing all the information they've picked up and going over his demonic some more. The more you know, after all…

K'tten is not necessarily being very social, she has settled to eating her dainty pack of 'peanuts' from her post against a tree, occasionally you can tell where those pupilless eyes go by the reflective eerie green glow the firelight casts from them.

Her weapon gets propped down after some time at the trunk of a tree, stopping, listening with a tilt of her head just before depressing the button that slowly sends the armor clicking back and away. No, not completely stripped of it like Kori does, a shining latex layer of a steely hue rests beneath it all over her dusky skin. A protectant.

what? The goddamn insects were huge here.

Applying Navajo-trained skills on tracking and examining spoors in the Savage Land was, to be honest, largely unnecessary. For one, the tyrannosaurus rex spoor was rather hard to miss, and its rampage wasn't too difficult to deal with.
The more dangerous predators were the small but quick swarming packs, rather like land piranha with claws.

Every so often, Roy could hear the spring of a sprang trap, followed by the scream of the trapped would-be predator as others descended on it.

"Lovely land," Roy observes, attention shifting back to Jericho. "Next time one of us get kidnapped, we make the kidnapper take us to Rio."

"I got kidnapped by you people." Jericho jokes. "I was in New York until the emergency teleporter system tripped and landed me here."

"Though honestly, yes, perhaps the next time the villain will be somewhere with wifi. I've spent a lot of time out in the sticks but it's always kind of disconcerting."

He sighs and glances over. "K'tten are you okay?"

"I want to kill something." She responds to Jericho. The sound of the trap going off and nature taking its course causes K'tten's eyes to narrow and her figure to disappear into the tree she was leaning against with a feline ease. One arm extended upward and as if gravity was of no consequence she was upon the limp, stalking on all fours across it.

Nevermind the remainders of silver and purple armor either. It did not stop her ese and poise as the limb lightly bows with her weight to dip her near enough of the small party. "I have spent most of my time in that ship, I only leave for one thing. To fight with my team."

In saying that now her glowing green gaze lowers to them.

"And that's probably why you're so -tense-," Roy responds, listening to the sounds of the trap. "When was the last time you had a good time outside the ship?" He looks towards Jericho for support, before sighing, eyeing the distance.

Abruptly he glances at K'tten. "Any idea why they'd want Kori to begin with…?"

Jericho shrugs. His glowing amber gaze meets K'tten's glowing green one. Yay for the strange eyes club. "K'tten's probably a lot like me in that her idea of a good time is a book or something to tinker with. I'm not usually much for going out unless there's good food involved." Or Illyana. But he doesn't mention that at the moment. "I'm a bit more worried, Roy, about what could be keeping her away. Koriand'r ranks up there with some of the most powerful beings I've ever met. If she's being prevented from returning I doubt a frontal assault on our part is going to be the solution."

"You are mistaking my tension for being eager." K'tten lies, but there is no definite way to tell as her tone is almost always for the most part, flat. Serious.

When Roy looks into the distance she only does after his question, one shoulder rising and falling for an answer, though now Jericho gets the benefit of that stare when his assumption nearly is pinpoint, the limb leaning only a bit more as she stretches out along its length and takes on a very felinistic stretched repose.

"You both are asking the same things I have asked myself as well. Unless she has plans and is staying for a benefit… We're walking into a trap, and in that case… What do /we/ have that they want?" A rise of her hand and a sweeping flick of her wrist over the both of them, the rest of their group having either passed out or gone to mingle with the friendlier natives. Or to be alone.

"You." She looks at Roy. "Human, pink, possibly tastes good with ketchup to things here. But you're smart, you have the ability no one sees. A few of them you hide rather well."

"You." She looks at Jericho. "You can upload and download faster than an unplugged processor. Your limits there? You could bring technology the likes of them wouldn't need anything else for…"

Pause

"Shall I go on on what the others bring? I am sure you all see it." Tactical thinking, should we be surprised?

"You think Koriand'r's absence is designed to draw us in?" Jericho pauses, thinking that over. "Possible. I agree we are likely walking into a trap. But it's also possible that Kori is what whomever her captor is wants. She's a powerful warrior in her own right, the likes of which few on this world can match strength for strength, and…" The hacker coughs. "Well, not to put too fine a point on it but she is rather attractive and that's appealing to a certain class of scumbag."

"As for my limits, I do have them. Process too hard, too fast and I burn myself out. Still, the fact that my computer is my head does have some pretty nifty advantages. The brain's one of the finest processors ever constructed and it's at my disposal. And I have other abilities. Knowing about them though takes some doing…" He glances over at Roy. Roy is, after all, a spy. He does know things.

"I'm glad, and maybe just a bit grossed out to see you've considered what I taste like," Roy replies, as he removes an arrow from his quiver and starts toying with it. "So you're thinking that somehow, -they- have figured out that the people most likely to go after Starfire are -us-, and are pulling us in to use for -something-. Like what, asking us nicely if we can find them a way home? I'm pretty sure spin and speak has been out of fashion for a -long- time."

Gesturing with the arrow at Jericho, Roy nods. "Yeah. So if she hasn't busted out already, either they're using her for solar-powered energy, which is draining her, or she's staying for -some- reason. What we need is a way to scout ahead, peek in, and…"

Roy's voice trails off. "What -do- you have, by the way, Jericho, on you?"

The brain's one of the finest processors ever constructed and it's at my disposal. And I have other abilities. Knowing about them though takes some doing…" He glances over at Roy. Roy is, after all, a spy. He does know things.

"Mmmmmm? On me. You mean gear wise?" His traces glow blue briefly for a moment, lighting up his arms, and chest through his shirt. They're on his legs too but the light doesn't make it through the denim of his jeans.

"Just my implants and this…" He pulls the blade out from the case behind him and it unfolds. He waves it around for a moment and then it folds again into a small carbine which he fires, momentarily startling their guides before he puts it away again.

At what Jericho has to say about Kori, for a moment there K'tten has a reminiscent look, one that turns and twists from worry to sorrow and then swiftly anger. Her eyes narrow to slits and if she was as completely feline as her lounge her ears would have flattened and she'd have growled.

In the matter of a heartbeat thugh she is back to stoicism and waving it off. "She's biding her time then." A mental image in particular bringing a smile to K'tten's face. Turning back to Jericho though, she does speak. "But you can upload, and retain data as long as your /brain/ functions. Better then most computers."

Now looking at Roy she grins, still an odd thing on her considering it looks like it'd make her crack before it became real. "I did have to plan ahead. If we start to starve who would go first. Depalo is too gamey, sinewy…" She trails off and lowers her tone. "She'd likely roast me for it." Snort.

"I was thinking we need to know more about what we're looking at here…" Roy frowns. "When we reunite with Lunair, I've got to see if she can make, I don't know, some sort of drone that could tell us what we're up against before we go in there."

Leaning back, Roy considers K'tten. "At least consider Worcestershire sauce instead of ketchup. You want to enhance the taste, not drown in it."

Scratching his chin with the arrowhead, carefully as though trying to shave off the stubble, Roy tilts his head back at K'tten. "By the way, just to be sure… how long can she go without the sun before she's pretty much powerless?"

Jericho is being humble, but they all are. It's human nature to err, or at least to those who have been around humans too much - nature.

"Remind me when the time comes." Her eyes lift and wander over the terrain, the brush, and then back, keeping watch from her perch before she goes back to her seemingly eased state.

Roy's question though gets him an incredulous look, one that shows her doubt still there in trust. It was always there but her first reaction showed it immediately. "There are a lot of variables involved in that one." Eye tic. Kori trusted them. Him. "One week with absolute zero."

"And we've been here a few days. We've got… maybe two-three days left to find her, just in case," Roy grimaces. Distracted, he accidentally cuts himself. "Ow! Dammit!"

Sighing, he turns his attention back to the fire, losing himself in thoughts…

K'tten's eyes snap down at Roy when he nicks himself, a single brow rising with a light 'hmph', though it does not seem as cutting, it seems more assessing. Backed by the fcat she does not jab at him for it and instead pretends she dd not see it at all.

"You guys will find her and do what you must."
