Rowan knows how busy Babs is. So he tries not to simply 'drop by' too often. She seems to often have committments and they seem to be important ones. Today though he comes, perhaps a touch nervously, to the clocktower and buzzes up, hoping perhaps that she's not too busy. Somethings are best done as semi-surprises.

-

Babs is indeed busy, slightly busier than ususal but not that she can share why… When Rowan buzzes, after confirming his identity, she lets him in. Of course, his arrival means that she can't meet him in the monitoring room, but the living area of the floor. She's waiting for him as the lift ascends.

-

Not one to come empty handed, Rowan has a half pound of the tea he'd been asking Babs about earlier. Which he offers as he steps in. "Hello Babs. Nice to see you again. Hope I'm not intruding?" He looks about. Bab's place is always so neat. So fastidious. It's one of the things he greatly admires about the woman.

-

The tea brings a big smile to Babs face. "Thank you Rowan, I did say I'd pay you for it… what do I owe you. You can't keep me in tea singlehandedly…." Taking the tea, she moves into the kitchen to store. "You never intrude, Rowan" she murmurs, she quite likes his company. "But, what do I owe the pleasure to, today?"

-

"Er, I'll figure it out. It's on that odd slip of paper they put in there." Receipts are odd things to someone from Earth 81, especially Rowan who spent a lot of time under water. He smiles when she says he never intrudes.

"I… er…" Rowan's not usually this halting. "I thought I'd see if you had a bit of time to spare, maybe…" He pauses. "Maybe take you flying? The city's pretty amazing from up above I've been discovering."

-

Finding the receipt in the bag that tea had been in, Babs works out how much it costs. She starts moving over so she can get her purse and some money when Rowan makes his suggestion. "You want to take me …. what?" Babs just stops and stares at the Blue Warrior.

-

"Flying…" Rowan says, looking down and toeing the floor. "I thought you might enjoy the ride…"

-

Babs blinks and is silent for a long moment. "That's what I thought you said." There's not much that stuns her but that suggestion comes close. His body language is noted and Babs blows out a long slow breath "You're worried about making the suggestion… maybe you explain how you would achieve it? I might enjoy it, but there's a lot of things to consider…" Her tone is low and reassuring…

-

"I'd… er… turn into a dragon. I recently remembered how. I'm about 30 feet long when I do that. More than long enough and strong enough to carry someone. If you'd like. You seemed to enjoy swimming so…" Rowan thought she might enjoy this.

-

"You remembered how to turn into a dragon? That wonderful, Rowan." Babs is obviously pleased. Gesturing to the table, she sighs "Sit down while we talk about this… there's so many things I need to check… I think I would like to, but…" brushing her hair from her face, you can see the thoughts going through her head.

-

"I know. You might have things to do. It's been floating in and out of my head but even if we can't tonight, I want to offer it. So long as I can do it I'd love to… er… show you around your city. From above." After all how many people get to do that? Even heroes. Not all of them fly, Rowan knows.

-

"Please sit, Rowan" Babs says softly. "I think I would like to, but how would we do it? I mean… I'm strong but… Why don't you tell me how you see it working?" Swimming with Dolphins is one thing, perching on the back of a 30ft dragon high in the sky, something else.

-

"In a word…" Rowan pulls a book on, of all things, Roman horsemanship. "With this. One of your old surfacer empires developed a saddle for horses that used leather 'horns' and the riders weight to keep him in the saddle in the absence of stirrups." The horns bent over the legs, locking the rider in place. The original design involves some leg strength, but it could be modified…

-

Taking the book and putting it in front of her, turning it so Rowan can see it as well, Babs looks at it. The saddle is known to Babs, so it doesn't take much for her to become familiar with it. Then she offers Rowan a large smile "So you have thought about it, thank you. Does the saddle need to be constructed, or do you ummmmmm… manifest… it when you change."

-

Rowan taps his shirt. "Adaptive clothing. Normally it just melds into my skin when it transforms but…" But now that he knows what the saddle is, the clothing could manifest it if there were a need.

-

Babs actually snorts at the thought. "Nice capability to have, Rowan. Alright… and the way you speak indicates you've already been flying over Gotham. How do we avoid detection?" She can just see the headlines of the papers now… Barbara Gordon: DragonRider of Gotham… maybe it would be too fanciful, but it is Gotham after all.

-

"Fly high enough." Rowan chuckles. "Or do it out over the water. The cellular devices are only really an issue close to the ground. And the… er… 'News Media'… well, so long as we don't do it in the middle of the day, I don't think we'll have to worry about them. I've not flown over Gotham yet… New York, yes, when it first started coming back to me."

-

Babs tilts her head, and considers Rowan for a very long time. "You have thought about this… haven't you." she grins at the Blue Warrior "I would like to, but it's going to have to be really early morning, just before sunrise, will that work?" She doesn't offer an explanation as to why.

-

"I gave it some thought yes." The Blue smiles. Ironically, the request for before sunrise doesn't even register on the Soldier's radar. He's used to being up before dawn doing mostly physical exercise. "Of course, Babs, if that's the best time. Just tell me when a good morning will be. It would be my pleasure."

-

"Tomorrow morning then" Bab says quickly, more so she doesn't change her mind "Thank you for being so understanding, it really is appreciated." Closing the book she hands it back to Rowan. "Where do you want to meet tomorrow?"

-

"Someplace I can change and take off without being noticed, if you wish to avoid cameras." Rowan muses. "Not in the city proper. Either by the beach or perhaps out of town, between here and New York? What's convenient for you?
