It's not often that Bobby does what he refers to as 'corporate schmoozing'. Today though he has some to do. Discussion with Stark about a potential joint venture between DCI and Stark for some of the tech they've set up. Mostly that's on Berto and the corporate heads over at Stark Industries. Bobby just needs to demo the tech. But as it happens the Stark Foundation is the major benefactor for the Nest and Bobby also brought over the latest financial documents and progress reports for Pepper to look over. He suggested a rather low key cafe out in Manhatten as a good place to get a bite to eat after work and let her see everything. He's also not exactly dressed like a corporate powerhouse. More like a lab rat just off work.

Which he is.

-

Pepper Potts is glad of a chance to get out of the office, even if the cafe chosen by the young representative from DCI did pick a place whose tea selections are vastly inferior to her own office's stocks. There's still something refreshing about shedding all of the corporate formality, even if only for a little while.

Having chosen to walk to the cafe from Stark Tower so she could enjoy the fresh, no, brisk… oh let's face it, it's hellishly cold out there and she's regretting sending the driver home early. She hurries into the cafe with a shiver and a blast of cold air following her, the brightly varied hand knitted wool garments she's layered on over her peacoat and usual business attire doing only so much against NYC in November.

-

Sam (aka Nyx) is walking through the night streets, she may be out trying to scare up trouble despite promising Sho to do more training first. Really if trouble were to find her, whose fault would that be, in her opinion it would totes be trouble's fault not hers right. She has her black with red splashes hoodie (damn dye packs) on, though it looks quite artistic really so she hasn't ditched it.

Anyhow Sam is walking past he cafe, not even pausing to glance in the windows. Then the girl stops dead in her tracks, and backtracks to peer into the window of the cafe, cupping her hands around her eyes to assist "hey.. I think thats Bobby." she mutters to herself, damn fine spotting, which she doesn't really think to hard about the fact she really shouldnt have picked him out just walking by. She steps over and opens the door to the cafe and steps inside with another blast of cold NYC winter air.

-

"Hey Miss Potts." Bobby smiles as Pepper comes on in. Nyx may hear the name and if she pays attention to anything at all may recognize none other than Pepper Potts the CEO of Stark Industries. "Thanks for coming." The cool guy is having a coffee and looking over the menu. He looks up when Nyx comes in. "Well son of a…" He waves to Sam. "This oughta be interesting. Pepper, that's Sam. She's a meta, like me. Project of one of my associates. She might be a little rough."

-

Pepper Potts smiles a hello to Bobby as she sets her bag in one of the chairs at his desk and then sheds her hat, mittens, and coat. The elaborately lacy thing she's got around her neck like a scarf stays. "Hello, Bobby. Thanks for inviting me." When he mentions Sam, she turns to look at the younger woman and offers her the same friendly and sincere smile Bobby received. "Hello, Sam."

-

Nyx blinks lightly, project, man she is going to eventually end up shaking Bobby and Sho and dangit he used her real name and said she is a meta to some lady named Pepper… wait a second "Oh hey…" she smiles back "Like.. uh Pepper Potts CEO of Stark Industries…?" she blinks again. "Um… hi… " then to Bobby "Hi Bobby."

-

"Hey Sam. Yes, that Pepper Potts." Bobby slides a folder full of the Nest's reports over to the redhead. "She doesn't just run a company you know. She also oversees a charitable foundation." And wrangles Tony Stark inbetween all that. "Why don't you sit down and have a coffee. How'd things with Sho go?"

-

Pepper Potts settles into the chair next to her bag (it apparently has earned a chair of its own) and accepts the folder to peruse. After a moment, she reaches into her bag and pulls her phone to … take photos of the documents or some such. She's not paying overmuch attention to Sam and Bobby for the moment as she studies each page, especially the ones that look like columns of numbers.

-

Nyx pulls up a chair staring at Pepper for a little bit then blinks at Bobby "Oh.. um .. pretty good I guess. He is a very wierd guy and this is from me … so take my word for it I know a lot about being wierd." she shakes her head "We totally destroyed a cursed painting yesterday for someone. Also… not sure why the majority of my training is fixing a motorcycle. Its like that karate kid movie with Jackie Chan and Jayden Smith."

-

"He's a regular Pat Morita, yeah." Bobby laughs. "The guy's an actual ninja though so you might learn a thing or two. If nothing else you'll have a bike when you're done. And that's all kinds of handy." Bobby lets Pepper take her time with the documents. "I do some work out at a place that helps the victims of human trafficking." He explains to Nyx. "The documents are just reports."

-

Pepper Potts glances up at them and smiles a bit apologetically. "Right, sorry. I just wanted to share these with someone to make sure all of the numbers were correct, though from my initial glance they all seem okay." Just a couple of pages left, and then she'll be paying more attention again.

-

Nyx leans a little looking curious at the phone and then leans back to look to Bobby, flagging down the waitress she orders a coffee and two sandwiches, extra meat. "He is something.. and hey that is great. Helping victims that is not the trafficking." she mmms "I bet I could punch the hell out of that kind of bad guy. Good self esteem boost right."

-

Bobby grins. "That's more the other side of the taking care of the human trafficking business. But hey, I think there's room for that." Certainly there's a time and a place for punching things really hard and human trafficking gives rise to a lot of those times and places.

"You wouldn't happen to know anything about that Miss Potts, would you?"

-

Pepper Potts looks up from the reports to also place an order with the waitress while she's here: soup and salad, and tea. Mincing Lane Blend. Hot. "Oh, sorry, what?" She looks from Bobby to Sam and back, feeling like she missed something in the conversation.

-

Sam smiles to Pepper and then her food arrives, and she starts to devour it. Wow… the teen has an amazing appetite. She just eyes Bobby and Pepper for the first sandwhich, and when she comes up for air she looks sheepish "Ive.. been really hungry lately." she explains.

-

"Eat up." Bobby waves. He's expensing this meeting anyway. "I was asking if you knew thing about people going to handle things like human trafficking on their own." It seems like the kind of thing Tony might do.

-

Pepper Potts considers briefly. "Not really, no. Sorry." She's been pretty well insulated from all of that for almost her entire life, so she can't truly fathom all of the ugly particulars. Truly, offering to help with the Nest and the people who are sheltered there is closer to that part of the world than she's ever been. "But I suppose… as long as the actions of one person don't make things more difficult or painful for everyone else, what can it hurt?"

-

Nyx sips her coffee and then nods to Pepper "You sound like my boss… Do Good without Doing More Harm than… " she grins though and looks to Bobby "I wonder if Sho has seen way to much star wars and yoda.. I swear." she shakes her head "So how cool is it working at Stark?" she imagines it is like working in the future or something, the ad campaigns are pretty powerful and she has watched way to much TV in her life.

-

"If Sho were old enough I'd swear he was Yoda." Bobby chuckles. "First, do no harm. It's the creed of the physician and a pretty good way to live life, I think." The ice nerd thinks. "Well, for most. I get, because I've met them, that there's something to be said for 'knock out the guys doing the harming.'"

-

Pepper Potts has her soup and salad and is picking at them a bit daintily. Maybe she's just concerned about getting food on her scarf. "Quite possibly. Though I'm not really the best person to ask about knocking other people out." She's not the kicking, punching sort. Never has been. "I think I'd be better at helping pick up the pieces once everything's said and done."

-

Sam peers at Pepper, then decides she must be distracted with being one of the most powerful CEOs in the world. Worth a pass. "Sometimes you need to do some punching to help pick up the pieces I bet." maybe she has been hanging out with Sho too much, but it is definitely a twist to it. "Im going to need to be very careful to knock out and not crush I guess…" and now the second sandwhich.

-

Bobby shrugs. There's multiple schools of thought on that. "That will keep you out of… well not completely off the cops lists but definitely in less trouble than the ones who go further." Most of the ones he know of live generally in hiding for one reason or another. "Then again there's something to be said for knowing people like Pepper who can help yo uwith the other end of things."

-

Pepper Potts looks about to say something when her phone rings. She looks at the display, then with an apologetic glance at Bobby and Sam, she answers it while standing and starting to put her coat on again. "Potts. Yes. Right. I can be back there in ten minutes. Thank you." She ends the call and drops the phone into her bag to put her gloves back on, but not before pulling a single bill that she slips under the edge of her plate before letting either person still at the table see the denomination. "I'm so sorry, I've got to go. Bobby, I'll look these over further as I can, and I'll call or email you if I have any other questions, all right? Sam, it was a pleasure meeting you. Stay warm." And then her bag is on her shoulder and she's hurrying out of the cafe to hail a taxi.

-

Sam waves to Pepper with a smile, but mouth too full to say anything, then watches Pepper bustle on out and finishes off her second sandwhich "She seems like she is incredibly busy.. but then I cant even imagine running a company that big .. important.. or famous. It has to be mind boggling Bobby." she shakes her head.

-

"It probably is." Bobby chuckles. "I'll see you later Miss Potts."

The ice nerd turns back to Nyx. "For all she's busy she's a very nice and personable lady. If very proper and polite. Anyway. How have you been? Haven't seen you much since that night with Sho but it sounds like you've seen quite a bit of him"

-

Nyx nods "He is a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to training .. well when it comes to taking apart and looking for motorcycle parts.. its a bit odd truth be told but I assume he knows what he is doing.. not like Ive trained someone with super strength."

-

"For the most part he does. He won't try to teach you anything he doesn't know about." Bobby shrugs. "How far can you push yourself, if I may ask? I understand if maybe you don't want to say but I'm curious. Just how strong are you?"

-

Sam considers the question as she finishes her coffee "Well.. I can rip an atm out of the wall. I tried lifting a car and that worked… it hurt the first time but I think I didnt have the angle right. The next time I did it there was no swear… I tried a pickup truck.. I cracked something in the truck though .. its hard to find the right place to grab on something like that and I don't have the best arms span and all. I guess I don't know…?"

-

Bobby nods. "Just curious. It's good to know your limits but it's hard to find places to test them. Try a junkyard sometime." He pauses. "Late at night. Might get some funny looks otherwise. And don't hurt yourself. Been okay other than that?"

-

Sam nods "yeah I think Sho wants to go to a junkyard to scavange motorcycle parts.. its very wierd having a friend who doesnt blink at the whole lifting up cars business…" she grins and shrugs "I guess so.. not been sleeping really much and eating like a horse.. but that seems minor compared to the strength end of things."

-

"Mmmm… have you been doing that before? Sometimes mutants undergo some physical changes when they manifest." Bobby's clearly curious but he won't suggest she go get tested. Girl's got enough problems.

-

Sam hesitates a bit and then shrugs a bit "No.. this is.. uhm.. pretty recent really. The strength and the sleep and the appetite.. its all pretty much at the same time. Well lack of sleep. I haven't slept in .. I dunno.. " she glances at her phone "thirty six hours?"

-

"Hrm… wait. You haven't slept in a day and a half? How are you even with it right now?" Bobby digs for his wallet and pulls a card out. "Okay, you need to get looked at. There's a few doctors here all of whom I trust. Avenue C clinic's probably your best bet, but you could also come on over to DCI and see if Berto's physicians will look at you. Either way."

-

Sam furrows her brow "I'm fine Bobby… I'm alert and not even tired.. I mean.. Im not even sure I do tired the same way now. I just get hungry. Also Im not sure what a doctor would tell me at a clinic. This isn't exactly normal stuff right? Who is Berto?"

-

"My boss. He's a mutant like me. And the Avenue C clinic specializes in mutant medicine. The doctors there aren't normal. But it's your call. If it isn't hurting you then I guess you're okay." He sounds concerned but it really is Sam's chocie.

-

Sam looks mournful at her empty coffee cup "I feel better than I ever have in my life and I'm not hallucinating or anything, I'm just not tired." she offers you a smile. "They would do what, pull my blood and tell me if I have the mutant gene or something right?"

-

"Eh, most would. The guy I have in mind has a special talent himself though. He's a bit more all encompassing. But there's no pressing need if your'e okay." Bobby waves for the waitress to get a refill on Sam's cup. "Probably something you'll want to know eventually but it's all good right now."

-

Sam smiles to the waitress "I'm.. pretty sure it isn't the mutant gene Bobby but maybe we could go sometime if you are worried about me." she has to admit, she is kind of curious what a holistic scan might show, kinda. Also a bit scared to death and has been doing a whole lot of lalalaallaalala nothing to worry about oh look a shiney over there, whee about it.

-

Bobby smiles and Sam's coffee is replenished. "Well we'll keep an eye on it, okay. Don't hesitate to tell me or Sho if you're worried or think something's wrong. He'll take care of you just as well as I will."

-

Sam nods "I can do that. Still we can do the trip to your friend sometime and see whats up." she sips the coffee and leans back looking around then to you. "That said, I should probably get home before my parents assume I am a satanist and try to do an excorcism for being out late again. I swear."
