Mystique is getting her own hands dirty on this one without a cover persona and a small army of Hydra agents. Nowhere is particular off limits to the Terrorist and she finds herself in Gotham without much concern about running into any of the vigilantes. She wandered through the front door of an SRD surveillance Center as a SRD officer, and proceeded to disable the late night crew, at least one of them permanently maybe more, and is currently data spiking the command center's computer system for later review, casually wiping blood of her hands with a Gotham Rogues angry towel while she waits for it to do its work. Still looking like a slightly blood splattered blond female officer, who just happens to be in a room full of dead of unconscious officers.

***

If Mystique pays attention at all to Hydra reports and dispatches she'll know that one of their branches, Tiger Division - the one responsible for reconnaissance projects - has been having trouble for some time with one Jericho Trent. Formally a US Army SOAR operative and now a hacker who goes by the handle 'Aspect' and a sometimes fugitive, the man has waged a private war against Hydra ever since the latter organization arranged for him to not have some experimental army tech removed from him so that they could rip it out of him themselves.

***

Tonight he's in Gotham doing, what else, investigating rumors of Hydra activity unconnected to Mystique. The doors open (thank you hacker skills) and a plain looking man in black tactical gear with a silenced sidearm and a knife slips in… and stares. Hrm. Well. This is unexpected.

***

Mystique has moved on from cleaning off her hands, to cleaning a very nasty looking alloy composite knife. She also does watch the man in the door and tactical gear "Well this is unexpected. Who are you supposed to be?" because well he doesn't really strike her as SRD. She is still in her cute pint sized blonde in a SRD lieutenant uniform form as well, but that doesn't mean she isn't ready to dive and roll out from under a bullet or two.

***

"An interested party." He's just walked into a room full of dead people. Jericho's not about to give his actual identity away. He hasn't raised his weapon yet, but he's already jacking into the SRD network. Mystique may in fact notice this on the screens in front of her. Someone's hacking that very console and hacking it well. "I'm going to guess you’re not the receptionist."
Call him crazy but something seems off. Might be all the bodies.

***

Mystique glances at the screens as they start to be hacked as well. "Well." she leans and rips the data spike out of the computer it was stabbed into and tucks it away. "Sorry no." she says dryly "I mean really. I am wearing an officer’s uniform and you assume because I am a woman that I am a receptionist… damn. I am surprised you didn't ask for me to fetch you a coffee or call me sweet cheeks or something asinine. Are you one of the little vigilantes… Tac-Man or something.. Because the outfit.. Not very inspired."

***

"Not so much, no." Jericho's still half concentrating on the hack, but he saw her rip that data spike out. So let's catalogue the list of things that are wrong here. One, the room is full of dead SRD militiamen. Big red flag, obviously. Two, there's a woman here futzing with their computers. Three, she's in an SRD uniform, but covered in blood. Four, she's playing for time.
"Which is unfortunate for you because it means I'm not going to arrest you." Now that silenced .45 comes up.

***

Five, she looks entirely unimpressed. Six, she wasn't really buying for time, the data spike was already out of the computer it was punched into, and we do mean literally punched into. "Well that is for the best I suppose. I'd hate to cripple or kill some bat freak and be fumigating my belfry all the time…." she moves much too fast and draws a gun of her own even as she jags to the left ducking behind a desk. Okay that gun was not a conventional looking firearm, way to sleek.

***

Jericho smirks and his weapon goes off. But he wasn't aiming at Mystique. He was aiming at the fire alarm on the wall behind her. Which goes off and begins spraying water everywhere. Successive shots at the computer power outlets cause the water to create sparks and arcs.
Which is not the most worrying thing Jericho does as he dives for cover. Through his black tee shirt Mystique can see bright blue circuit traces begin to glow moments before a field of light springs into existence around Jericho that looks like a holographic demonic werewolf.
Who then reaches behind him and grabs something that unfolds into a five foot sword. "No, not a Bat. Lucky you."

***

Okay, that is slightly more impressive. "Well no not a bat… Do you prefer Jericho or Aspect.. .. It's Aspect right.. want to get this right and not get off on the wrong foot" What the hell does she call this, the right foot seriously. She leans around and fires several energy bolts out of that pistol "I have no beef with you and your suped up tech, how about you get the stuff you came for and I beat feet, that sound good with you?" thing is, Mystique isn't aiming at you she takes the door out behind you.

***

Jericho glances behind him as the doors blow. "Well that's an interesting offer. I might have even taken you up on it if you didn't seem to know my name. There's kind of only one group that I can count on strangers knowing both my handle and my actual name." Ooops. That might have been the wrong thing to say. It doesn't seem as though the commando turned hacker is game to let her out now. Not if the way he lunges forward and brings that odd folding blade down on the console next to Mystique is any indication.

***

Mystique sighs "I know everyone’s names, I make it my business to spy on you little spy and all the other spies that ever spied." she hears you coming just fine and lunges the other way, kicking off a cabinet and fluidly diving closer to the exit she cleared. "Not like you are some great big secret Aspect, you've made some amazing enemies and they make huge waves in those circles." she .. is not even remotely human the way she parkours and the SRD gear doesn't even seem to slow or register to her like it should. "So chill out." she snaps a shot at your legs.

***

The shot impacts Jericho's right leg and there's spark from his traces as the feedback burns him. Ouch. The reason Aspect cut into the console now becomes apparent as his claws hook into it and he hurls the entire bank at Mystique, whom he's increasingly convinced isn't human. "You see, saying things like that make me think less and less that's safe to let you go. I've already had too many people take shots at me. Including your folks recently."

***

Mystique notes as she leans out of the way of the console and is already moving, because well if she was throwing a console at a target like her she would either follow it up with gunfire or that sword again. This is so not her first rodeo. "I seriously doubt that any of my folk took a shot at you, ever, or I would have probably heard about it. We are pretty much single minded in our pursuits and you are not on my list. Who do you think are my people though." she kips up onto another desk, that much closer to the door and fires several shots since you seem to be sturdy. "Because I'm trying to decide if I should be insulted or not. SRD. Hydra. Shield. Crazy Space aliens. AIM?"

***

There is a sword. Followed by gunfire as the sword folds back into a gun (neat trick that) and bullet tracks follow. He doesn't shoot long though. The fact that she's not mindlessly attacking hasn't escaped him, so once she gets to cover he drops back himself and puts his blade into low guard as he stands near the door, pressed against what cover he can find for his bulk. "Hydra. You've got Hydra connections which is why you know my name and I know this because the spike algorithm you were using to crack the SRD files was written by Hydra. I've seen it before."
His conclusions are wrong but can you blame the man?

***

Mystique eye rolls "See I knew I should be insulted. Hydra can't afford me and is a little bit too Aryan Purity for my tastes. Still they have amazing technology and I stole it along with a lot of their files." she does note "Very cool gun though, perhaps I should look into getting one of those."
After a moment Mystique rolls and comes up with two pistols and two knives and four arms from a different spot. The pint sized blond is about a foot taller, and doing a Shiva impersonation. Though still blond and all and not Blue yet "Now let's try this again Aspect from the top. My name is Mystique. You have probably heard of me. I'm certainly not Hydra but I am leaving with what I came for either through you or by you. You get to pick though because I am pretty sure a fleet of SRD are on their way at this point."

***

"That might be the case if you'd managed to get an alarm out." Aspect grins. "So if you're hoping they'll ruin our party, hope again."
Jericho's HUD does a quick scan of Mystique. No facial recognition but he's already gotten the message that this is a shape shifter, so no surprise there. The name Mystique though brings up Brotherhood connections. Ugh. These guys. Unlike the X-ers, Jericho has no particular beef with the Brotherhood per se. Well, not any more than he does any other set of genocidal terrorists but unless they're actively kicking things off he doesn't particularly have a reason to seek them out. Hell, he once offered to give Colossus a clean slate because she was Illyana's brother, so the lines are a bit blurry for him.
That said, he's not going to let on that he knows who they are, nor that he has a connection to the X-Men (several actually) if she doesn't already know that. "You seem fairly confident that you can make it out past me and I gotta say, that's probably more confident than you should be for someone who can have this building erased with a phone call." Which is a bluff, not because he couldn't have it done but because K'tten probably would refuse on the perfectly sane grounds that it's IN THE MIDDLE OF A LARGE CITY!
"I'm also not in the habit of trusting mass murderers, so I'm going to need a bit of convincing that this isn't going to bite me in the ass later. Otherwise I'll take my chances in a brawl, thanks."

***

Mystique looks bemused "Who said I even tried to stop them from getting the alarm out when I waded into the place and I'd rather not have to deal with them trying to lock the building down." she pauses a beat "That said, of course I'm confident. You are far from the biggest asshole to try to stand between me and protecting my people. I assure you I will put you down if you try to put me down." she seems very confident of this. "Every person I've harmed has been in self-defense, this is a war I am not going to have my people lose."

***

"As I said though, I am not here for you I am here for information on the activities of the SRD. My sources say they are up to something I will likely need to disrupt." well someone she still hasn't managed to identify with all of her resources is up to some serious bullshit in Mystique's book with those damn inhibitor collars and the scuttle is the SRD is being shady. She sheathes one of the knives and pulls out a small sphere, looks like some sort of high tech explosive or worse. "
"Maybe you didn't, but I was coming up and I did. C'mon. Do you think I wanted to wade through a bunch of trigger happy militia men?"

***

Jericho's grin sharpens. "Understand that I will kill and destroy anything I have to in order to survive. And if this fight starts up again, it'll be because you make a move." Jericho's wolf armor fades to be replaced with odd bat like wings made of amber light. "I don't care how hard you think you are. Threatening me isn't going to make me get out of your way. Try again or put your money where your mouth is before I decide the SRD needs an APB on a shape shifter." Ah the joys of controlling the flow of information.

***

Mystique snorts "I didn't come in here and threaten you, you came in here and disrupted my operation and shot at me first you asshole. Also be my guest and pin this on a shape shifter, like I care if the SRD puts out a warrant or APB on me. I mean really now." she bonces the ball in her hand. "I like your survival instinct, passion is good. I feel the same way about my cause. So, how about you stop trying to compromise my mission and I stop threatening to go through you to get out of the situation you put us in and just…. leave. That sound reasonable.. Because really you have been doing all the threatening if you think back to this situation. I've simply been confident I can go through you to escape this mess with the information I came for. Well hopefully haven't had time to review it yet."

***

Jericho grins sharply and activates a window on his HUD. "Mmmmmmm. I did, didn't I? Then again, I did walk in a room full of dead people, so it's not exactly like you're innocent and inoffensive here. Nice work by the way. Also no. I'm not just standing out of your way. But I will offer you a compromise. Instead of both of us getting what they want, neither of us can get what they want. I'll turn off everything and walk out. You can drop your tech, vape your spike and walk out. Or you can go through me. I promise, no matter what you think you know about me, you don't know nearly everything you need to. Your call."

***

Mystique notes dryly "I'll vape the spike but I will not give up my guns any more than you will give up your tech." she shakes her head "Ditto to that hacker boy by the by. Deal?"

***

"Deal." Jericho folds his blade away. True to his word his traces shut off. Yes they can be repowered in an instant but there's no point in looking threatening right now. More importantly all his connections to the computers in this area die. He's under no illusions that Mystique will simply hit another site to get the info she wants. And she probably realizes he will too. But that's not in the scope of their agreement and Jericho does - generally - honor his deals.

***

Mystique watches you closely, then pulls the data spike out of the pocket she put it in and tosses it down and blasts it with one of her energy pistols. She then smoothly holsters both of them and the knife and sphere. Of course she does it with a smoothness that indicates she can draw them in an instant. "You first." since you are by the door after all.

***

Well that only makes sense. Jericho slips out the door, keeping an eye on Mystique in that delicate dance of two people who have very good reasons not to trust one another but also have, at least for the present, decided not to try to kill one another.

***

The blonde watches you slip out the door and go through the motions of that careful dance of mercenaries, rogues, and scoundrels. When Mystique emerges she looks perfectly human, sans the four arms. No uniform or blood just a light leather jacket, brown, skinny jeans, and expensive boots. She will hook it into a busy club and blend, and shift multiple times in the loud and dark and exit as a twenty two year frat boy and repeat. Many many repeats as she drifts away through Gotham. She is really irritated about having to vaporize a data spike, but she got what she came for. When one can rearrange every cell of your body it is easy to swap the contents of a pocket for the contents of an inner 'pocket'. not like she was even wearing anything with pockets after all.

***

Jericho honestly could care less whether Mystique has the data or not. The point of having her vape the data spike was so that it didn't fall into the hands of Hydra, or worse, some mutant terrorist who was going to use it to make a nuclear reactor go critical. As for the woman herself? Well, if Jericho has his way, he won't ever see her again and this'll be a very odd night. Sadly, what with his own mutant connections, he's going to guess that won't be the case.
If only he knew how many other faces she wore.
