Gotham City, Collgate Heights. What a weird neighborhood when you think about it. But then again aren't all the Gotham neighborhoods pretty darn weird in their own rights.

The day after Christmas, some people busy back to work, others busy doing whatever it is they do. Luckily though the problems don't begin until after nightfall on the docks when there is just a skeleton crew out here.

Someone has paid Garfield Lynns to scuttle a container ship that just cleared customs before it can be unloaded. Firefly doesn't know what is on it, and doesn't care. He gets to burn down a ship on the water and make a good payday in the process.

The first sign that something is wrong that comes to anyone not on the ships attention is a radio call to harbor patrol (911) about a maniac in a winged suit lighting the door to the bridge on fire, hurry it is melting the door! Then a small boom noise on the call and the radios go dead.

Charlie is sitting on a Rooftop in the narrows, on call, and generally looking for trouble on her own.

***

Holidays aren't really a thing for Cassandra. She's been around 'normal' people (if one can call the Bats that) for a few years now, but she's spent too long with Cain and drifting around the rest of the world to really have that ingrained sense of 'Holiday Season'. It just means it's colder, and more people are about and so she has no problem picking up her mantle as Batgirl to be out on the streets despite it being the day after Christmas.

When the call goes out, Batgirl doesn't put in a verbal response that she's heading that way she's used to Oracle tracking her movements. She's not too far from the docks anyway, and the bright glow of the new fire makes for a great marker on where to go.

***

In the Clocktower, her face lit by the glow of her screens, Oracle sees the ship go up and intercepts the 911 call.

Checking who's around she see's Batgirl on her way and identifies at least two others in the area. Tapping her comms, conferencing the three "Red Robin, Misfit. Trouble in Collgate Heights. Batgirls on her way, provide backup." and the coordinates of the calamity are sent to them.

***

Firefly is whistling the tune to Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire as he walks down into the hold of the ship. He has trashed the control room and radio controls left one canister of unknown substance rigged in there. Now he has to do the rest of his job still before he bails. Once he is down in the lowest level of the hold he raps his knuckles on the cargo crates "Hmmm" then moves on to the engine room and settles the first of several canisters he is carrying down and crouches starting to rig this one up to the engine itself. He plans to start the fire from multiple points. Engine room. Control room. He has several more to plant in the cargo hold still to really make sure it all burns up.

Misfit cocks her head across town and then grins "Roger." she does have to ask for further clarification "Do you .. uh got the name of the boat." coordinates probably help the others. Proper names though that helps the Misfit. She checks her gear then bounces /pinkurple/ vanishing in a cloud of smoke and reappears on docks by the container ship. "Hm… where to start." she bounces /pinkurple/ up onto the upper deck and peers into the control room window giving Oracle a view of a slagged door and some sort of canister rigged to do horrible things probably. Misfit doesn't even know she is looking at a very high tech firebomb or what to do about it.

***

Batgirl doesn't have Charlie's fast travel method, but she makes pretty good time nontheless. Quiet batfeet land on the ships deck in time to see the so-very-subtle smoke clouds of Misfit's movement. Seeing the young woman headed up, Batgirl works on finding her way down into the bowels of the ship. She's good at staying out of sight in the twisting maze of belowdecks.

***

Oracle activates the video feed on Batgirls comms unit, she's now seeing the feed even if it is a little dark.

Misfit's feed cause her to groan a little. "Misfit, Can we get a better look at the cannister on the door. Don't touch it, just get me a better visual, if you can." Regardless, she grabs a screen shot from Misfits feed and starts searching her databases for disarming or disposal techniques.

"Batgirl, video feed is on. There's a high tech bomb in the control room, I'm looking for similar where you are."

***

Firefly finishes rigging the engine room and walks back out into the cargo hold proper with the remaining three canisters, still hmmming his favorite part of his favorite Christmas song. He has no clue as of yet that anyone is on the ship, let alone that Batgirl is stealthing along in the bowels of the cargo ship with him. He crouches down by one of the large shipping containers and starts to rig another canister.

Charlie peers at the Canister in the control room. "RogerRoger." she bounces from outside the control room and appears inside now and carefully moves closer to the rigged explosives giving Oracle a much better view.

The explosive canisters are a work of love and expertise there. Really quite a fancy set of rigging there, remote detonator. Backup timer counting down for 30 minutes just in case. Exciting.

***

Batgirl doesn't give Oracle any verbal feedback, but that's pretty normal. The lowlight in her cowl at least makes things a bit easier to pick out but it'll still take some peering. At least Batgirl is likely to recognize a bomb if she saw it, though that wasn't one of Cain's preferred methods of dealing with a target.

Batgirl stills as she hears the teasing lilt of Firefly's humming, the clang of footsteps from someone that's used to being flashy and not all ninja-quiet. She moves like a greased shadow, slipping through the tight corridors with the ease another might run through them while still staying out of sight as she works to close on their bad guy.

***

Decisions, decisions. The instructions that are being shown for this type of bomb are… complex. Oracles certain that she doesn't want her young charge trying to disarm it - for many reasons. "Misfit, we have two choices disarm or dispose. Can you carry the whole thing and dispose of it somewhere where the detonation won't hurt anyone?" Times running out and the Information Goddess knows it.

Checking the feed from Batgirl, Oracle nods. "Batgirl, bombs on the boat are remote detonation. Proceed with care, he will have the detonation device on him." There's a lot more information she could give, but keeping it short and sweet seems to work best.

***

Firefly finishes rigging up the first of the cargo hold canisters and dusts off his hand, then starts his journey halfway through the hold and crouches down to rig the second one. He is still obvlivious to the danger stalking him like a BatNinja.

Misfit considers Oracle's request "Sure I think so… it um… doesn't have like a thingee when I move it that will make it go off does it?" right then technical term, thingee. Thankfully no it doesn't seem to.

***

Batgirl needs to really concentrate to understand words, and when Oracle speaks Batgirl pauses in her movement to do just that. Short is totally the way to go. "OK." Comes the brief response from the young vigilante.

Batgirl takes her time since Firefly's busy rigging the firebomb so she tell if he's got a deadman's switch. Something he needs to pay attention to, to keep from going off, would be easy for her to pick up on from reading his body language.

Of course, 'taking her time' in matters of combat for Batgirl tends to mean she actually pauses for a half a second. Then she's swooping in, leading with a kick to Firefly's head. If there is a deadman's switch, she'll make sure it stays depressed by grabbing it herself if need be.

***

Removing the bombs in such a short timeframe is worrying. After all there are at least two on the ship and likely more. "Let me try something first, Misfit. Remote detonation, means it has to have a signal coming in, maybe we can block that. Then you'll have 30 minutes to find them all and do the same." The plans show the remote detonation circuit is triggered by mobile phone, so Oracle cheats (a lot) and jams the mobile phone network to the area. Some Government agencies will have questions. "Go now, Misfit."

Batgirls actions are viewed with an appreciative nod of Oracles head "Misfit will be clearing the bombs, Batgirl."

***

Firefly gets kicked right in the helmet. "What the….rgk" and goes tumbling away from cannister he was rigging though he does roll back up to his feet, the wings on his back shifting to auto-stabilize him The detonator, is likely on his belt, no deadman switch since he needed his hands free to work. The two other final unset canister goes rolling off into the dark of the hold, not rigged. He unhooks his flamethrower and looks around for something to Flamethrow, flames licking around the tip now that he has it in hand.

Misfit eyes the canister "Roger Oracle." and grabs a hold of it and then bounces out over Bob Kane Sound off the Coast and chucks it even as she is falling, and only bounces herself back onto the control room proper. "Where the the others?" she heads out the door of the control cabin and starts to run down into the hold. No ninja.

***

Hit and run are part of Batgirl's MO, and so by the time Firefly's spinning around she's ducked back into the shadows. He pulls down the flamethrower and she flicks a baterang off to the side to draw his attention before going in again with a trio of punches in rapid succession. With a suit like that, she's expecting the body armor, letting herself strike with more force than usual. Enough to break bones and do serious damage. It also puts her inside the reach of that flamethrower which should give her some measure of safety.

***

"There's one down in the hold, with Batgirl, that I know of" Oracle replies to Misfit "Then we're going to need to ask our friend where the rest are, I suspect." Watching Batgirls actions, Oracle waits for an opening "We need to question him, Batgirl. We need to know where the rest of the bombs are so they can be removed. Keep him conscious, please."

***

Firefly does turn and continues to look around. Lucky for Mr. Lynns his armor is a bit like body armor and it helps soak some of the serious punching. Unlucky for Mr. Lyons it is primarily there to be completely fireproof and protect from the heat and burning death. He makes an ufff noise and staggers under the sustained assault from Batgirl. He can't directly get a clear shot at her so instead he just unloads his flame thrower on the ground hoping maybe splash will deter her, and he hits his suits jets going up in the cavernous hold. "Getoffme"

Misfit notes "I don't see any…" on her way down into the hold proper "I hear a fight though…" and she is in there. She eyes the fight going on and then bounces over to the canister near the stairs, the one not rigged and bounces it out over the Sound and then comes right back to the same spot.

***

The spill of flame has Batgirl tumbling off to the side, seeking the shadows once again. As Firefly kicks up into the hold, she's already moving as though she anticipated his action. The man is a bit harder to read, the armor covers him head-to-toe and so Batgirl doesn't know his every move before he does. But big ones like this, they're still easy. She moves through the superstructure of the ship easily and while Firefly hangs there in mid-air she leaps without a pause him. One arm cocked back, she aims a punch at his helmet even as she answers Oracle's request for him to stay conscious. "Understood."

***

"Clear what you find in the hold Misfit, then start a sweep of the ship. When Batgirl subdues this guy" When, not if "We can question him for the location of the rest, but we can't rely on it." Batgirl needs no reply and Oracle sits and watches the action.

***

Firefly gets punched right in the helmet. His bell keeps getting rung by this Batgirl and he leans with the punch flying right into a pillar. Flames go everywhere as he wildly flamethrowers around him. He is not having an easy job of it tonight. "hold..still!" ears ringing from the last punch and coming no where near Batgirl.

Misfit decides he is pretty darn distracted and runs to the first armed canister and then bounces it out and drops it before bouncing back. No smoke on her re-entry just on the exit. She is on the last canister in the hold and bounces it out as well and then reappears on the stairs, not wanting to make herself a target out there "Ok.. Im going to start to look around Oracle…. " she trots along to the crew quarters starting her sweep.

***

Still watching Batgirl deal with Fyrefly, Oracle provides direction to Misfit on the ships layout, so a methodical sweep can be made. "We don't have long, Misfit. Those backup timers were set for 30 minutes."

***

The fire spraying everywhere has Batgirl tumbling away again, but in the same motion she's whipping a batarang with a cable attached to it at Firefly's wrist. She gives a hard jerk like one might set the hook when fishing to try to yank him off-balance and get that arm secured so he can only throw flame in one direction.

"Where. Are the bombs." She asks, her normal monotone dropping a bit and, with her rusty English it could be a bit intimidating.

***

Misfit notes to Oracle "I'm looking as fast as I can…." she spins around and looks through the ships guts following Oracles directions and guidance. She still hasn't got to the engine room yet.

Firefly gets spun around and his flame thrower holding arm gets snagged up. "Why is it always a Bat!" he twists his head and then takes off roaring down the inside of the hold thinking he might get loose of the batarang and line that way.

You would think that by now Firefly would have figured out how tough the lines on those batarangs are. Of course, the weak link is usually the person holding it at the other end but Firefly's not in an open area. He's in the confined space below decks. Batgirl loops the line around one of the steel supports, sets her feet and holds the eff on.

***

Poor Firefly, he was thinking he would jerk it out of Batgirls hands and free his flamethrower to flame the annoying flying rodent… then he runs out of line and it doesn't give like he thought it would. "RRrrgk" as he runs out of room and then spins down out of control into the ground with a mighty THUMP.

Misift scampers back through the hold using the containers as cover but she does peek out at the thump "Whats left Oracle nothing in the mess hall or crew quarters.."

***

Oracle has been watching Misfit traverse the ship and seeing every door and cupboard being opened. Consulting the blueprints, she mentally checks off the areas. "You missed the Engine Room, head down there now." and she smiles as she watches Batgirl secure Firefly.

***

Batgirl feels the jerk and strain on her arms as Firefly hits the end of the line, grunting softly. She ties off the line and heads for the man himself, still wary of where he might spray fire. "Time… almost up. Want to be here.. when the ship goes up?" She asks in that flat tone of hers. "Tell me… how many?"

***

Firefly laughs a bit of a crazy laugh, yeah this arsonist is totally sane, yeah right. He jerks trying to get back up now "My suits fireproof is yours?" and hits the device on his belt…. whiiiich does nothing because Oracle is jamming it. "What…" he keeps jabbing it now. "No…" and that is when he tries to throw a punch at Batgirl.. oh right like that will end well.

Misfit "Ohs… like the back of the boat?" she heads that way now running down the length of the hold and then rolls her eyes "Duh Charlie" and bounces into the engine room "Roger one in here" and she bounces it out and drops it into the ocean

***

Firefly's punch is almost lazily swatted aside by Batgirl as she gets close enough. Her arm cocks back and comes down on his armored mask again, this time hard enough to crack the shell that covers his face. "How fireproof… now?"

***

Firefly flails and tries to fire his jets again but he is still anchored with the batarang and the line to one of the beams of the ship so he just jerks himself like a struggling fish "Five.,.. five of them you psycho!" says the pyromaniac psychopath after he thumps back down once more.

Misfit looks around the engine room now "Ok … right… got that one." and if he is being honest that one makes five.

The ship is registered to Wayne Enterprises. It is carrying some rare earth metals from China. Also buried in the shipment some off the books metals for one of the special science division projects, you know the ones.

***

Batgirl reaches up to touch her ear as she speaks to Oracle. "Still need him… awake?" It sounds so much nicer than 'unconscious', right? She has to duck once, and slide to the side as Firefly does his Crazy Fish impersonation, smashing into the walls and ceiling and floor.

***

"I think we have what we need. Secure him for the Police, they're on the way, Batgirl. Nice work." Oracle is sending a message to Batman as she speaks letting him know of the attempt on the ship. "Good work Misfit. If Batgirl needs assistance, provide it and the get out of there."

***

Firefly looks up at her through his broken goggles "What…. awake.. who are you talking to.." he is reaching with his free hand trying to get something from his belt.

Misfit wanders out of the engine room walking to join Batgirl and get a look at Firefly.

***

Honestly, keeping them awake is the hard part for Batgirl. Poor Firefly doesn't get to hear an answer to his question, just Batgirl's fist coming at his head and then it's birdies and darkness.

Batgirl looks over to Misfit and gives her a nod. "Good. Job." Because Cass knows who took care of the bombs while she played with Firefly.

***

"Good work the two of you. Batgirl, thank you for getting the information. Now get out of there. The police are nearly there." Oracle is already running searches to see how Firefly was hired.

***

Birdies or Bats. Hard to say which but he is out like a light either way. there on the floor.

Misfit grins to Batgirl "Thanks!" she responds well to praise from her idols after all "Roger… Im out…" she bounces out, positive that Batgirl will manage her own out.
