There is, if you know where to look, a market of outlandish wonders that shows up when it will and where it will. Which is ordinarilly places where the nights are still and the moon hangs low in the sky. There, in back alleys, parking lots and the odd twenty four hour WalMart, one can find a place that only the strange, lucky and fortunate can find. Welcome to the Nowhere Market.

Fenris is currently near the entrence talking to a lovely woman with crow feathers for hair. The Finder is one of his usual stops when the Market comes to town and for good reason. True to her name, she can get you things and always drives a fair bargain.

***

Constantine is a regular there as well, though his reputation tends to be a bit less savoury than Fenris'. After all, John Constantine is the Hellblazer, first and foremost, and when he goes shopping, it's for information people don't want to sell and weapons they don't want any truck with owning. So he tends to bend arms a bit more liberally to get what he needs, and it shows, in the way people tend to find themselves suddenly 'occupied' with something when he stalks through the aisles, cigarette bobbling between his lips.

***

Zee has, actually, never been to the Nowhere Markets but she's heard about it and she's curious.

The young woman is strolling through the markets, not having the same effect as John as stall holders call out to her and other visitors smile and nod their heads to her. Zee, after all, is a generally friendly sort.

Her steps take her towards the entrance where Fenris is talking to the Finder. Stopping to admire some geegaw or two at stall, she laughs at something the stall holder says, shaking her head, obviously in answer to a question.

***

The Finder smiles over at Zee. "Hello Dearie. Have a look around and let me know if anything catches your eye."

The woman sees John and smiles. She's one of the few who usually does when she sees John. "Oh Johnny… over here dearie. I've got something for you." She's already bending down to fetch a box made of Ash and glit with gold.

Fenris nods to Zee and glances over as John makes his way through the market. "How are you Miss Zatanna? First time?"

***

"Well hello, Lady Crowfeathers," John says with a cheeky, familiar sort of insoucience, saunting up to the trio. Hands in his pockets, he smirks at Fenris and winks at Zatanna. "'ello luv, nice to see you in the market. Shopping for anything for someone special?" he asks with a bobble of his eyebrows. He turns back to the Finder and produces a little bottle filled with what looks like a twisting blue flame. "Plucked some cold fire for you, my lovely procurer of all things- as requested. I take it that's the special order?" he says, flipping the casket around and peeking under the lid.

***

Smiling at The Finder and Fenris, Zee nods as she browses the stalls content. Her fingers brushing trinkets, allowing her to get a feel for them. "Hello Fenris, or should I call you Mr Wolfson is you're going to call me Miss Zatanna? Yes, this is my first visit, but I've heard tales all my life." Johns arrival and greeting causes the young magician to smirk at him "How's the ankle John? Did you get it seen to?"

***

The Old Wolf chuckles. "Fenris is fine. Around here most know my name and those that don't know my nature."

The Finder caws softly as she takes the flame. "Mint condition, best I could find and it wasn't easy. But well worth it for you eh Dearie? What do you plan to do with it, mmm?"

That gets a look from the Wolf. He can smell what John's got there and he's kind of curious too.

***

"Well," John says, clicking the casket shut and tucking it under his arm. "It's my insurance, just in case a certain someone comes calling," he explains. "I ran into some trouble with a parademon the other day and he's quite an interesting blighter, so I thought I'd better have a certain something in my pocket just in case the usual tricks don't work."

***

"Fenris then, but only if you call me Zee." the raven haired woman nods to the Wolf God. Going back to browsing, Zee keeps an ear on the conversation and at the mention of the parademon sighs. "I still think, John" she says almost tartly "that you might want to find out more before you do anything."

Stopping her browsing, she picks up a pendant and holds it the palm of her hand, her fingers curling around it. Nodding to herself she puts it back and continues looking.

***

Fenris quirks his eyebrow at the mention of a parademon. Demons that aren't demons are really, really, really rare. Certain places and magics can change things that weren't originally demonic into things that are, though in the Old Wolf's experiene 'demon' itself is a matter of perspective which is why not all 'holy' items are universally effective.

"Sounds like an encounter you both shared. Insurance is good to have though. Pays to be prepared. Failing to do so… might mean no more John." And no more other things. Much as John is feared Fenris knows he does important things.

"Ah, that one brings luck, dearie." The finder informs Zee. Of course from here in this market that's more than just an expression. Fables, legends and minor magicks, all for sale.

***

"Look, I'm sure he's a good kid," John says, spreading his hands at Zatanna. "I'm sure it's not even entirely his fault. But, he's got a parademon in those electronics of his." Fenris gets a light backhand to the shoulder. "Yeah, you heard mate, mate. /Computerized/ parademon. That's a new one in my book, and I wrote the bloody book on hellspawn," he says, with a crooked grin.

***

Zee looks at the Finder and nods with a small smile "So it does, it has a fair level of power too." Her fingers trail over the merchandise as she browses.

"Don't you find that, in itself fascinating John? You wrote the book on hellspawn and here' something you hadn't seen… " Looking at Fenris, the young magician nods "I found it quite interesting. I did some healing and it ''ate'' my magic, seemed to be storing it away." John gets a tight lipped smile as Zee continues her browsing.

Stopping again, she looks at a set of earrings and cocks her head peering intently at them.

***

"Starstones." The Finder says quietly. "Each a mote of light from a dead sun. There's power to them if you have the right talent." A bit of light unseen by mortal eyes from the depths of the void. Yes, power indeed.

"Tech-demons. Well I suppose tech support centers would say they've existed for years." The Great Wolf jokes a bit. "But that is rather interesting. Seems to have you…" Rattled isn't quite the word. Concerned?

***

"Intrigued!" Constantine declares cheerily. "A demon aspect I've never seen before? That hardly ever happens to me anymore," he explains. Zatanna's frosty look actually gets through to him for a moment and his brow furrows, but not before she's turning away from him. He glances at Fenris, looks to Zatanna, points a thumb at her, and asks Fenris a silent question with his eyebrows, probably something regarding the vicissitudes of women.

***

Zee has stopped at the earrings and is still looking at them. Taking them off the rack, she cocks her head and holds them in the palm of her hand "They are really… quite amazing" she says quietly to the Finder before replacing them in the right place.

Johns comment receives a snort "So you've found you've never seen before and the first you do is prepare to banish it…It's an opportunity John, think about it, you could release another edition fo that book." the smirk is back on Zees face.

Resuming her browsing she casts a slightly apologetic look at the Finder.

***

"Banish? Or simply study. When dealing with demons it's often wise to be prepared." Fenris isn't sure which John is after, but he's certainly curious what the legendary Hellblazer intends to do.

The Finder caws softly, not at all bothered. It's Market. Lot's of people look.

***

"It's a /demon/," John says, looking surprised that he's having this discussion at all. "What am I supposed to do, make friends with the bloody thing? I identify it, I understand it, I learn how to kill it, and I make sure if I ever see one like it again, I can do it faster and better next time. The only good demons are dead ones," he says, with a sudden savage heat.

***

Fenris has Zee raising her eyes to consider him although she remains silent.

Johns outburst has her stop dead and she peers over at him, frowning "I liked him… he was abrupt but not rude. There's a person attached to that computer…" Zee shakes her head and returns to her browsing.

As she browsers she finds a set of hair combs. Taking them up, she turns them over in her hands "These are interesting…" she murmurs.

***

"Jade… from the Jade Emperor's Court." Laced with magic of order and the righteousness of the celestial mandate. The Finder smiles. Clearly proud of that one.

Fenris looks at John consideringly. He understands why people might say things like that. There are lots of demons out there and plenty of them do nothing but victimize and hurt people. Still others seduce and corrupt. All the same. "I'm a demon, John, by many lights." He says quietly. It's not accusing or reproving. He really wants to know what the man thinks about that, and perhaps, why.

***

"I'm not going to sit here and quibble bloody semantics with you, Fenris," John says, his voice going a bit frosty and flat. "You didn't crawl out of the black pit with the intent to tempt the weak and corrupt the innocent, to take the evil and cruel and turn them into monsters that…" Seething, he sets his jaw and takes a few breaths. "They all need to go back in the bloody pit and burn there for eternity," he says, making it as much oath as statement, eyes furious.

***

Zee holds the hair combs in her hands, tilting her head as the Finder speaks and nodding.

Johns outburst has Zee looking confusesd and she moves to stand beside Fenris, the combs in her hand "Settle, John" she says quietly "I just want to understand." Fenris gets a questioning look from the young magician.

***

Fenris seems calm while John seethes. There's something there and the Old Wolf won't argue. It's not like John doesn't do a lot of good. He does. But blind anything eventually winds up with someone getting very very hurt and he only hopes this will not be that time for the Hellblazer.

Zee's look get's a quirked eyebrow.

***

Constantine just shakes his head, pacing, and finally shoves the cold flame closer to Feathers and grabs his casket. "Everyone's a damn critic until there's a devil at the doorstep," John says, his tone low and furious. "Then they all want the Hellblazer to show up and save the day. Damn the cost, damn my /soul/," he huffs, kicking an empty box over. "Just as long as it's done, eh? But god forbid someone trust me until there's a crisis."

John stares balefully at Zatanna and Fenris, then just stalks into the crowds, a short, barked 'move it!' clearing a path for the Hellblazer.

When the door to his fantastic travelling house slams shut, the sound echoes like a gunshot.

***

Johns little outburst has Zee blinking and she tracks his progress through the market. "Oh good heavens" the young woman exclaims "That is John all over… he was like this when we were in Ipswich." she shakes her head "No wonder Dad was concerned." Looking up at Fenris, Zee smirks a little "He'll either be searching for the bottom of a scotch bottle or a burger and chips. Should I send him some?"

Glancing back at the Finder, she shows the combs "What's the cost for these?"

***

Fenris just shrugs. Something's eating Johnbut he rather doubts that it's really all about this particular parademon, whatever it is. "I've seen worse." The norse god confides. And he has. You try living with the Norse Pantheon for centuries. "There's more behind that though…"

The Finder cants her head. It's in her nature to always offer a fair deal. "Either a nip at your Aura, which looks lovely or…" Hrm, what could a Homo Magi offer… "Knowledge. Promise to find out for me the true name of a minor imp who can run some errands down below for me."

***

Fenris garners a querying look from Zee "I don't suppose you know what?"

The Finder gets her attention. The aura comment receives a slight incline of head and a smile. The mention of Imps has her shuddering "How long do I have to find that information?"

***

"Let's see…" The Finder caws softly to herself. "A turning of the moon. Seems like time enough for such a relatively small bit of knowledge?" Clearly that's open to negociation.

Fenris, meanwhile shakes his head. "I don't. John is a private man for better and for worse. He takes much upon himself. Too much, sometimes."

***

"Hold the combs for two turnings of the moon and we will have a bargain." Zee smiles at the Finder "Small things can often require big undertakings." Fenris gets a nod "Thank you. It was worth asking the question." Zee takes a moment before the show biz smile appears and she looks back to the Finder "Are those terms acceptable?"

***

"They are, Dearie. I shall keep these for you. Come by any time." The Finder's smile isn't malicious. After all she can only be fair…

"Of course, Zatanna. Are you shopping more or headed out?"

***

"I'm done for today." Zee looks the way John just stormed off and frown a little before recovering. "Will you walk with me?"

***

"Of course." The Old Wolf motions to the gate. "Come, let's take in a little stroll."
