Bobby has finally managed to get a call out to Ororo Munroe and asked her to meet him near the town of Warren PA. It's a small place, not far from Allgenheny National Park and near the river of the same name… and just south of the Kinzua Dam which has been threatened… and to which there is apparently some actual danger. From the spot on the road the Ice Nerd has picked you can see both dam and town. He's a bit apprehensive but not because of Ororo. Well a bit because of her. She's always been nice but she's also one of the Original X-Men. So calling her is a bit like ringing up the principal…

-

Things have been quiet for the X-Men lately, so Ororo saw no issues with her spending some time at home in Africa. The weather witch spent time among the people she came to think of as family before Xavier brought her to his mansion, taught her about mutants and so much more. While she certainly doesn't regret having met Charles or having joined the X-Men, it is a different life. So much more complicated. There is something to be said for simplicity.

When she comes back, there is a message from Bobby Drake. She does her research as she flies over, finding out the layout of the town, landmarks, mutant activity. The Blackbird is brought down into the forest, hidden from view and Storm closes the rest of the distance by flying there herself. Landing next to Iceman, she cants her head to one side. "Your message was a little vague, Bobby. What seems to be the problem?"

-

Bobby had been waiting but he still starts just a little when she lands. "Hello Storm." He turns and gestures to the dam in the distance. "That's the problem. Someone's threatened to destroy it… and, though I need to follow up with the Titans, it seems like 'someone' is the Brotherhood of Mutants…"

-

Hearing that someone is threatening to destroy the dam puts Ororo in deep thought. She looks over the landscape, guesstimating the amount of water behind the dam and how much damage it will do to the area around if it were to suddenly have no barrier. The fact that the waters would flood the small town of Warren is a given, as well as the threat to so much wildlife as well. "Have they stated *why* they plan on destroying it? If the Brotherhood is involved, destroying it would be seen as helping mutants in some way, as twisted as it might be."

-

"Not as such no. The exact wording was 'The Kinzua Dam is a symbol of oppression and like all such symbols cannot be allowed to stand.' Not really much in the reason and debate department." Bobby sighs. What exactly the Brotherhood hopes to accomplish with this is a question he's been asking himself for a while and it bothers him that he can't come up with a good answer.

-

Storm looks thoughtful. Mind you, Storm almost always looks thoughtful. Her lips purse as she tries to make out the reasoning behind destroying this dam. Is it killing of human lives that are oppressing mutants that is the goal? Or is destroying the dam going to liberate mutants somehow. More information is needed. "Is there some way we could get inside? Learn more about the dam and it's workings?"

-

"Yeah. Well, ordinarily no but Berto's arranged things so that we have access. The town itself approached X-Red after the FBI said the threat wasn't credible. We discovered otherwise. Now it's a question of how they'll strike and when. Ideally I'd hope to prevent it but I need to look at the potential of them succeeding and us having to save people in the town. I'm not sure I could freeze that much water that quickly. Not without ill long term effects anyway." Bobby glances back to Storm, hopeful that she has some thoughts.

-

Storm paces as she thinks, looking again at the dam and the river below that makes its way to the small town of Warren. It is unfortunate we could not get Metal to join us. His talents for building would be useful in this application. You and I could freeze the water in place while he fixes the dam. With it being just the two of us… we may have to look at taking the water and either freezing it or spreading it out over the entire state."

She stops her pacing to turn to look at Bobby. "Shall we head down to the dam and see if we can't find out why it is a target?"

-

Bobby gesutres to his car. "I thought you might say that. It's just a short drive, if you'd like. And Metal is aware of the problem. All of X Red is along with Gambit and some of our allies. I thought it best to get a… broad based response." The ice nerd opens the passenger door for Storm before going around to start the car and head on down.

-

Ororo does like Bobby. He's such a gentleman. Storm is always at her most arrogant and entitled when she's been home in Africa for a while. It comes from being worshipped as a goddess. Even the most humble of people can get a little egotistical when being worshipped, and Ororo Munroe is certainly not the most humble person to begin with.

Sliding into the passenger seat, Storm nods. "Your knowledge of science will likely be helpful to us to be sure that the workings of the dam are all above board."

-

"I had Jamie Madrox over earlier to examine the structural soundness as well so he might be a good person to chat up." The drive is indeed only about ten minutes and in no time they're parking and walking up toward the dam. Bobby hands Storm a 'visitor' badge that'll get them access anywhere they need to go. "Wanna see the generator rooms or get a look from the top?"

-

Taking the visitor's badge, Ororo ponders the options. "Let us get a bird's eye view. That might give us a unique insight. Then we can go inside and look at possible sabatoge locations." She steps out of the car with all the grace of a queen, her eyes starting to glow white as she rises into the air.

-

Bobby nods and turns toward the elevator. The top of the Dam gives a rather panoramic view, as dams often do. The resivour is about eight percent full and below the turbine outlets can be seen letting water gush through. It's actually rather peaceful up here but here are a few things of note. One is the big ones is the fact that this dam is definitely a child of he 60's and the anchorings are… well, they're 54 years old.

-

Ororo is a history teacher, not a science teacher, so while some of the things that are obvious to Bobby are overlooked by Storm. Mind you, that is why the X-Men work as a team. Many different strengths so no one person has to do it all. Storm does note that the resevoir is rather low for this time of year. The winter snows and rains should have it far more full then this. "Have they opened the dam flow to prevent as much damage from a sudden release of water?"

-

"I gather they're concerned about that, yes." Bobby murmurs quietly. "It'd take them weeks to empty it though and not only do they not want to do that, but they may not have the time." He glances over. "The pilings are the easiest place to sabotage a dam like this. Attack the point where it joins to the natural terrain. But I also gather that the Brotherhood has looked at explosives so they may try to just crack the place open." Looking out over the water he shakes his head. "What do you think? Could the two of us stop that?" He's not sure… but he hopes, maybe even believes, that they could.
