Titan's Gym. "Well.. this place.. is big…." Misfit slowly looks around taking it all in. Workout equipment. Sparring area. Parkour setup. Rock climbing wall. Gymnastic equipment. "Also.. wow… I don't even remotely know how to use most of this stuff…"

The girl is still without her new costume, but mind you it will be awesome when Batwing finally finishes it. So in her current fighting costume she walks over to the sparring area. "Right. Training."

***

Keith comes in behind Misfit. He doesn't have a secret identity to protect, so he's quite comfortable in bike shorts and a green tank top. He smiles at her reaction to the gym. "Yeah, it was the same way for me when Gar showed me this place. We could train the entire roster here, plus guests. It's pretty awesome… though the super-strength equipment has been gathering dust since Wonder Girl split."

***

Well Danny did tell Keith and Gar that he would teach the Titans martial arts if they wanted it, and yeah he's going to avoid some of the K'un-Lun methods. Doesn't think either of them is up for punching buckets of rocks right now anyway. However he decided to visit the place not as Danny Rand billionaire, but as Iron Fist, the kick butt kung fu machine!

As he follows Vorpal into the Gym, "Man I a tempted to bring this back to my Dojo and do the Karate Kid method, the floor in that place could use a good sanding…" Hey Martial Arts instructors love that movie, it gave them a lot of free labor over the years. "So I'm assuming I wasn't invited for a free tour? Is it movie night, and you want to watch Bruce Lee movies and ask me who would win if I fought him. Cause honestly my money is on Lee."

***

Zatanna Zatara takes physical fitness very seriously, for ummmm obvious reasons. She's already situated herself in the corner of the gym on some workout mats and is doing some stretches before starting anything more serious.

The magician, is dressed in a leotard and tights - not too much unlike her Stage Costume, just more practical and her long black hair is pulled up in a high ponytail.

As Misfit and Keith come in, she waves to them and keeps stretching, peering curiously at the man following Keith in.

***

A wave is thrown over to Zee "Hi Zatanna… this guy is a super kung fu hero who is going to teach me how to be a better superhero" Misfit indicates Iron Fist then pauses "His codename is totes Iron Fist… which I assume means he can punch through wood or stone or …well anything but steel…. or titanium… "

***

"He can do much more than that. He knows all sorts of secrets. He's also the only person I know who can pull off yellow booties," Keith adds as a manner of introducing Iron Fist. Formality is hard for someone who is a cat half of the time. "You were on tour when Gar and I talked about training. That's why you haven't met him yet. But you do now- Iron Fist, this is Zatanna Zatara, Mistress of *~Magick~*." He does a flourish. He does itt very well.

***

Man always with the yellow booties. At least he ditched the popped up colar shirt, talk about embarrasing. "The booties are part of the traditional costume for the Iron Fist." They make him wear them, honest. "Plus all the power is really in the booties, honest." Yup, totally in the booties.

He bows to the Mistress of Magic, "It is an honor to meet you. I have been asked to instruct any of the Titans thare are willing to learn in Martial arts."

***

Stopping her stretching, Zee offers Iron Fist her big show biz smile "Nice to meet you!" and then glances down at the booties and back up to the mans face "They're right, you do manage to pull them off."

***

Misfit nods "Man.. yeah… I know if I wore booties I would get lectured about how unsafe it was… slip on a roof.. fall to my death… " she bounces a bit rocking on her heels as she watches everyone. "Ok. So Martial arts right?"

***

"Right. See, Sifu Fist-" because he's not sure whether or not the secret identity thing was safe to share with the rest of the Titans. "Misfit shows a great deal of promise, but she needs help with the same things I did- basic defense, awareness, not letting people sneak up on you."

Oh god, Keith just realizes… he hasn't told Danny that Robin is back from the dead. And apparently evil now.

That was going to be one hell of a social time afterwards.

***

"Well we can start on that. It does take some time to develop the awareness though, and I didn't bring the blindfolds with me to help train that area though." Yes he is completely serious about that. Nothing builds up awareness like getting hit a few times when you can't see. "So shall we begin?"

He starts to walk over towards the sparring area, "So what is that you can do Misfit? We need to do double training. Focus on abilities that you already have, and work on making sure you can fight if they are lost somehow."

***

Zee resumes her stretching, watching Iron Fist, Keith and Misfit start their training. If it's interesting enough, she might get involved.

***

Well she can show him what she can do. She bounces, what she calls teleporting, vanishing from near where she is in a flash of pink and purple smoke >pinkurple> and then she is behind him "I can bounce… and I am really good with a batarang… and well.. Im strong and super fast but …. yeah I just started to learn real hand to hand. I've punched and kicked the vengeance right into a lot of muggers and burglars.. and one supervillain though so far."

***

"It's chaos magic," Keith adds when she teleports. "I can feel it every time she does it- which means the magically sensitive probably can feel it too. So training on sneaky sneaky will help her when she can't depend on i-."

Keith pauses and looks at Misfit. "… you just did it and I didn't feel it. What happened?"

***

Misfits bouncing, which Zee has seen before, has the Mistress of Magic pausing and watching, shuddering slightly as she disappears.

Strolling over to the job, Zee joins them and asks quietly "You didn't feel her teleport in, or something else?"

***

"Well that could definitely be useful. At least for the strike an move portions of fighting. However there could be ways to shut down the teleportation powers that are unknown now though. And punch, kick is just well not real hand to hand. There is more to it than that. Here, try and throw a punch at me, and I can show you."

***

Misfit gets this mischevious grin at Vorpals question and then nods to Zatanna "Mr. Fenris left a present on my nightstand Christmas eve while I was out patrolling…" she fishes out a necklace from under her costume, norse runes. "It absorbs.. the extra .." she squints "you know.. ummff to make me quieter. Im not sure if he did it to be nice or because I was making his fur stand up when I bounced." of course if you are an expert Mistress of Magic those runes are absorbing the excess magic yes, but also storing it not just bleeding it off. Hard to say which is more disturbing, Fenris is leaving the young lady christmas presents in her room when she isn't there like some spooky norse santa-wolf, or the fact it is storing her bounce enrgy.

Misfit tucks it away and then turns to Iron Fist "Okay.. Sifu Fist right. Do I need to bow properly like in the movies?" she isn't being sarcastic, she is being enthusiastic. She hesitates then steps in and throws a punch at Iron Fist. She is pretty sure this will end like those movies too, her on her ass or maybe just easily blocked. The thing is, she is in amazing shape despite her scrawny teenage physique, that punch is way fast and hard for a girl her build.

***

Keith huhs, "My… people are getting magical doodads for Christmas, and all I got was an ugly sweater." Not true, but the line merits saying. They young man stands back to watch Misfit and Danny in action.

***

Yup she has speed and she has strength. But well Danny beat up a dragon when he was 19 years old, and not just in a video game! So he is used to fighting out of his weight class so to speak. He doesn't go to put her on her butt though, that's just to embarrasing. Instead he just moves to block her punch and side steps it as he brushes her off. "Not too bad, but you telegraphed the aim too much. Will need to work on that as well. And there is no need to bow, yet."

***

Misfit dances back a couple of steps when she isn't knocked on her butt, nice. She smiles "Thanks!" about the not to bad, because really the technique needs tons of work but she likes the encouragement. "Im game to do whatever I need to do to get better."

***

"Good. Being willing to do it is the most important thing. We will have to setup a schedule for you as well. At least once a week, if not more." Hey it doesn't hurt to do more training. Of course being a hero doesn't always let you plan out the training stuff in advance. "Now were you told the cost of the training by the way?" Hey it's the rule, he trains people, they have to do charity work at the Thunder Dojo.

***

The young lady rocks a bit, bouncing but not teleporting. "Coolness.. and I can go where ever you dont have to come here if that helps with practicing… and… no…" she looks to Vorpal a little suspicious, but not true paranoia then back to Iron Fist "What is the cost?"

***

Okay he is going to have to mess with her a little now. "Ten Thousand dollars per lesson. Hey I am a hero for hire after all, I have to get paid! First one is free of course." He pauses after that one, just to see the reaction, "I'm just kidding. There is a place out in Harlem called the Thunder Dojo. I like to keep my eye on it, and make sure they're doing good. You will have to do some charity work there. It's actually part of the training. Patience is a key to Martial Arts, and nothing teaches better patience than working with kids."

***

Keith quips in, "We all help with tutoring or maintaining the dojo, or tutoring the kids."

He pauses. "Except for Raven."

***

Misfit opens her mouth and then closes it "You guys have to be messing with me…" she mutters and then ah the twist. "Ohhh… right.. kids…" she looks daunted but nods. "Right.. I can do that.. patience.. I have tons of patience." that may be a slight exageration.

***

"That will be tested. Especially if you do any of the kitchen work, at least a few of them have a tendency to start food fights." And hey all of them get trained in Martial Arts as well, so they are doubly dangerous that way. "We'll have to set up some training times. Vorpal has the contact info for the Dojo so you can setup volunteering. It doesn't have to be every week, just when you have the time."

Well stiff upper lip and think of Gotham, or something, by the expression on Misfit's face. "Okay..well I can definitely hold my own in a food fight…" she narrows her eyes in anticipation. "Where is the dojo.. I can bounce over during the day to help out and train when you have time and patrol at night." ah caffiene.

"It's in Harlem, New York. And that would be fine. But don't you have school or anything to do during the day?" Hey education is very important, he preaches that one to all the kids at the dojo as well.

***

Misfit kind of crosses her armsm, one hand cupping her elbow as she protests "I'm eighteen." in a tone like she has to protest this a lot. Because really she seems a whole heck of lot younger most of the time with her attitude and the way she behaves. Orphan-PTSD-Trauma+Chaos at it's finest.

***

"No college? You know education is important." Man does he really have to do the stern lecture thing with the girl? She's a hero she should know this stuff! "If it's a financial thing. Talk to Danny at the Dojo, he may be able to help you with a scholarship or something. He's a good guy like that."

***

What would you do if you were a fly on the wall? Well, if you're Gar Logan, you'd come through the magic door from ESU, check the security system, see that people are in the training room downstairs, and bug's your uncle, fly into the room as a midge, so you can watch for a second before you materialize off the wall as a green kid in appropriate training gear, bow to the mat, and kneel quietly to wait to be acknowledged.

Seriously, don't even step on the mat without permission, green, late-arriving guy.

***

Keith is trying not to look in any particular direction that might indicate that he, too, is actively not going to college. Oh look, there's something on the wall- it's a Gar. A late Gar, for that matter.

And looking in another completely innocent direction.

***

Zee, who has been quietly watching and listening, steps forward and regards Iron Fist carefully "And I'm 19 and have no college. Sometimes, it's the education we receive in real life that's more important."

***

Misfit looks grateful to Zatanna and then looks to Iron Fist. "No college.. I um… don't think I qualify.. and they don't really offer any degrees in crimefighting… and Im not going to be doing anything else." also may have dropped out her senior year for good reason and technically not be a high school graduate

***

Well he just got schooled by some kids, wasn't expecting that one. "Well think about just one thing. It's a dangerous game the hero thing. What happens if something does happen so you can't do it anymore? You will need something to fall back on." Hey not everyone can inherit a billion dollar company after all. "But it is your choice after all."

***

"There's always criminology," Keith points out. And he says, "College isn't everybody's cup of tea. I am still not sure whether I want to go myself… but I think the important thing is to encourage people to cultivate themselves regardless of where they are. It can happen in a university or a library- the important thing is the desire to learn for one's own benefit, not for the benefit of someone else or what everybody else expects of us. But you are right- it's important to be a well-cultivated individual and have something to fall back on. Doesn't necessarily have to come through college… what matters is that you learn it and learn it correctly, not where you learned it. Right?" He grins.

***

"Sure it's dangerous" Zee steps up the young man "But… we don't just do the super hero thing. There's heaps of vocational things that can be done, and seriously" the young magician smiles brightly "the stuff I've read about in books, has nothing on the hands on practice." Zee sighs then "But you are correct, we all need something to fall back on. I was fortunate in that I learned to be a Magician before the heroing thing happened." Truth be told, Zee really doesn't see herself as a Superhero, just a damn fine Magician.

***

Yes. Inheriting billions. Not something to be relied upon, or really, looked forwards to at all, please. Gar stays silent though; not going to say anything until he's invited, or the session ends.

***

Misfit thinks about it and then finally winces "Guh.. I'm pretty sure I will just apply myself to superheroing and helping people… …Im the energizer bunny of crime fighting."

***

"If that's what you want, go for it. But now I do need to run. I will be in touch about setting up another training session. Also don't forget to do the charity stuff as well." Hey the kids need all the help they can get after all!

***

"Yes, Sifu, you can expect us there this weekend." Keith grins and bows to Iron Fist as he leaves, and then gives Gar a grin that is full of mischief.

"You. were. so. late."

***

"So much cleaning … it's like the guys who were supposed to do it, never took the bins to the disoposal…" Gar protests. He stands and bows to Sifu Rand when he leaves though.

***

Zee watches Iron Fist leave with a wave before turning "Hello Gar" Zee gives the green man a hug before turning her attention to Misfit "Don't worry about it… with all of us around, something will show up." The raven haired woman smiles warmly, not show biz style this time. "It's nice to get more than 5 minutes to say hi!"

***

Misfit watches him go "Man everyone over twenty is all like… education young one you need a fallback when you get old like us…" then smiles brightly once more to Zee "Very much so, so you do all kinds of magic then?" she looks curious about it.

***

Keith walks up to Gar and gives him a peck on the cheek as greeting, but he looks at Misfit over his shoulder. "Hey hey hey, ease with the over twenty talk, what am I, a vestige?" he asks with a smirk.

***

Gar looks over at Misfit. "Yeah, well, the thing is, you want to be able to talk about stuff when you're on a stake-out. If you have an education, you can talk about more stuff."

Yes. That's the reason. That and the criminals who are better educated will mock you.

***

Zee frowns at Misfit and Keith greets Gar "All kinds of magic" she laughs lightly "What on earth does that mean? I do stage magic and I have homo-magi blood, which means I can do real magic…." the young magician shrugs "But, before we get into that… tell me about you. Did I hear you work for Oracle?"

Gar get's a funny look and a quirk of an eyebrow "Reading, watching documentaries, just being open to new ideas will let you do that too, Gar…"

***

Gar gives back the funny look. "Yes, they will, but just having an open mind doesn't work as well as training yourself to learn, and schools are really pretty good places to do that. Anyway. If I'm too late for practice, I'm going to go run in the gym. I'll see you folks later, then."

Gar bows again to the mat, and shifts to a small green bird, zipping down the hall to the next training room.

***

"Homomagiwha?" This is the first time Keith hears of that specifically. The Fae does not share everything with Keith, and even if he did, he tends to regard humans in a very feline way. Humans were humans, whether they could do magic or not. The only condescension the Fae have for the origin of the species and the saga of Doctor Mist is the fact that humans who can use magic are both easier and harder to trick than regular, non-magic, rock-banging humans.

"I am not sure I am entirely familiar with that, Zee. What does it mean?"

It's a little embarrassing, because he does magic (after a fashion) and isn't aware of this when, technically, he should be due to the fact of having an ancient Fae spirit inside him.

~Care to explain?~
++You'll learn++

***

Misfit looks from one Titan, to the other Titam, to the other Titan. Then she settles back to Zee "What does that mean.. and oh yeah I work with Oracle. Also the bats of gotham when we need to coordinate on an emergancy." she beams.

***

Zee shrugs at the two of them "Homo-magi, pretty much like homo-sapiens but we wield magic naturally, I'm led to believe a parallel species." She grins at that and looks to the slightly younger woman "Magic, is in my blood if you like. I don't really get it all myself." Raising an eyebrow at Misfit "The bats mmmm, that must be fun."

***

"The bats are… batty. Batman just does not have good luck with proteges- one of the has gone rogue, and the last one we had is going on leave." Keith shakes his head and then absorbs the homo magi thing. "Interesting… so you are actually a branch of the tree different from mine. How exciting!"

He remembers the disagreement with Gar's view, and the redhead says ," That thing with Gar… don't take his views to heart, Zee," Keith says, walking up to his magical friend and putting a hand on her shoulder. "You need to remember his circumstance. Gar lost two sets of parents and I have it on good faith that when he was a teenager, he was a complete, undisciplined mess." Something that Dirt Girl did not help at all, really. "He didn't really find a center until he was put through formalized education. It helped him focus… some people thrive that way, and Gar thinks it's something everyone should go through."

The redhead smiles and shrugs. "I love my boyfriend very much and he is wise in a lot of things… but he's human like everybody else…" he stops and winks at Zee, "Well, almost everybody else. I think he's wrong in thinking that it's a one-size-fits-all sort of thing. You obviously never needed to fight to find a focus. It very much depends on the individual."

***

Misfit considers "I found focus." her.. background is full of orphany things, perhaps she should talk to Gar sometime. He sounds like he would understand. Though that would mean dwelling on bad bad thoughts so she quickly tries to change the subject from thinking about Orphans. "And the Bats are great really.. except Nightwing, he steals batarangs for some reason… though I got a much cooler one." she digs in her utility belt, it looks like this a newer high tech utility belt and pulls out what looks to be a coral batarang. "Get this Vorp." she wings that thing all the way across the training area. Then the girl whistles "Return." and the… coral batarang starts to flap back. Wierd Misfit is Wierd. "So I have magic blood.. maybe I got it from my dad.. never met him."

***

"Don't worry about it Keith. I'm one of the fortunate ones. Dad gave me an education, just not a traditional one. I mean really, Shadowcrest… it's like a university on it's own just without the lecturers and tutors." Zee waves off Keiths comments "and then… you guys gave me a family." She smiles brightly at the two of them and looks at Misfit "Yeah you do and who gave you that blood doesn't matter… now you gotta learn how to use it, if you want help, I'm around." Zee stretches up and stifles a yawn "I'm kind of beat, I'm going to go and take a nap… see you two around hey?" Hugging Keith and Misfit (if she'll accept one), Zee heads off to her room.

***

"Aww, you-" Keith grins and gives Zee a hug. "I'm pretty tired myself. I should head to bed 'fore Gar's done with his run, otherwise he might decide to draft me into another set and I will just die. Misfit, you staying over? There's plenty of rooms in the Castle…"

He pauses. "Right… Oracle said you have to go back to Lady B, don't you?" He still hasn't met this 'Lady B', or really known much of who she is. He is curious. Oh so curious…

***

Misfit will totally give Zee a hug back, squee family and friends. "I'd like to learn more yeah Zatanna." then she smiles to Vorpal "Eh yeah I got to bounce home.. I've got a dragon to slay on my xbox anyhow if I don't end up on a patrol tonight… it isn't like the walk from here to my room is far right?" she tucks her wierd batarang away.
