Some things require a more personal touch. If they did not, Jericho would do everything from a very safe internet cafe in Honolulu. As things stand? Well, most of his assets are in the Tri-City area and of course his friends are as well. Mostly the hacker makes his home in New York but excursion to Gotham do occur on a semi regular basis now that HYDRA activity is on the rise.

Tonight though he's not doing anything particularly related to that. Something's piqued his interest, or rather, someone. A young woman who's been captured briefly on video circulating on the internet. She matches the description of a young woman declared missing by the authorities. Which by itself doesn't normally capture Jericho's interest but for two things: The first is she's been listed as missing by the Department of Defense. The second? Is that he's seen her before. Although that's a bit complicated.

So here he is out in Outisburg, searching the CCTV cameras and keeping an eye out from the rooftops.

The Bats aren't going to see him here, right?

-

For the first time in a long time, Audrey has a little bit of cash. Not a lot, mind. And she's been careful about where and how she's using it. Convenience stores, or independent, no-name shops. Or, in this case, food stands. She managed to get a room in a ratty old hotel for the night, so she's clean, but now she's out getting some food from a little cart selling gyros and fries. She certainly doesn't look like much. An unremarkable girl who's quiet and polite as she trades cash for food.

-

Misfit is back on patrol in Gotham after the earlier incident she had with Vodoo and Elks, don't ask. Nothing unusual has drawn her towards Audrey or Jericho, not yet. Sure Oracle may pick up on Jericho messing with her cities networks, but no one has tipped off the young vigilantee yet. So rooftop to rooftop.

-

Jericho hasn't seen Misfit yet… then again he's not looking for her and she is a teleporter. Teleporters are hard to track. He does see 'Umbra' though. He's sure that's not her name but… Oh what the hell. She's curious and if this goes disastrously, it wouldn't be the first time. He launches himself from the building and glides down silently if not invisibly. Glowing amber wings tend to be a bit obvious. Rather than landing right behind her he puts himself about half a block away, shuts the wings off and walks up on Audrey casually, waiting until she's got her food to approach. "Late night munchies?"

-

Don't panic. Audrey's steps pause for a moment as Jericho approaches, and she tries to step around the man. "Just a late dinner," she says without meeting his eye, head down. Just a late dinner she'd really like to be able to hang on to, instead of abandoning to run from someone who looks like he can handle himself. Of course, beneath all the layers of clothing, Audrey holds herself like someone who doesn't need to be afraid of anything.

-

Misfit spots that, I mean it isn't every day that some guy with glowing wings glides down off a building in this part of town. She bounces teleporting closer and then leans over the building to watch the rest of his descent. Wings.. wings… no wings.. and walking up to that lady. "Mmm maybe supervillain…" she runs along and leaps to get onto a building a bit closer now and then resumes her spying. Ready to bounce down now but wanting more intel.

-

Jericho has to approach this carefully. This woman doesn't particularly look like she's 'missing' which could mean that she's in trouble or that she doesn't want to be found. And he definitely sympathizes with not wanting to be found. People in that mindset tend to be easily spooked. And it doesn't help that his eyes are glowing with interest as he wathes her.

"For someone whose supposed to be missing, you're on the internet a lot." He murmurs just loud enough to be heard. "Don't run. I'm not here to turn you in to anyone."

-

Audrey tenses at Jericho's words, one hand reaching toward the small of her back. But…no, this doesn't seem like the person you ought to shoot. "I've got no idea what you're talking about she says evenly instead, stepping a little bit faster. "I've got no one to look for me. Which means no one to turn me in to. So that should work out well."

-

Misfit frowns and bounces off the rooftop and into the nearby Alley. She doesn't bounce out onto the street because there is that food cart down the way but she wants a closer look at this guy and to be ready if the lady needs help. The lady definitely doesn't look happy after all.

-

Jericho is nondescript to the point of being annoying. He dresses that way on purpose when he goes out. Dark jeans, grey long sleeve, baseball cap. None of it stands out and his mannerisms are just that of a guy out for a walk. He looks… boring…

"The Department of Defense is looking for you." He says slightly louder as Audrey moves away. Hopefully that'll stop her and not drive her to bolt. He half turns to track the woman as she moves away. Misfit's bouncing is playing hell with his watch programs. He's keeping an eye out but he hasn't been able to spot her moving, mostly because she just vanishes and reappaers and she hasn't been in open view of a camera yet.

-

"Too bad for them." For a moment, it's as though there's something about her that flickers, like a bad connection on a television program. But she's still moving down the street. Then again, that's how you deal with crazy people in Gotham. Try not to engage. To the eye, she's still walking down the street. If anyone is watching with something more precise, such as infrared…Well, the visible Audrey? Doesn't appear there. And where infrared shows a figure, there's nothing to be seen.

-

Misfit keeps watching the woman step away, then attention sliding back to Jericho to see what this guy talking about the DoD does about it. She sticks to her shadows, not able to see thermals yet, need new costume stat.

-

Misfit may from her vantage see that Jericho's eyes are amber - odd - and glowing. Even more disturbingly she may see his eyes flip to pure red as he turns to watch thermal Audrey. After a moment he starts to follow at a distance. About fifteen or so feet back. Something's up here and while he doesn't want to chase or scare the girl, some part of him needs to know. Maybe its the increasingly inhuman part of him that doesn't like letting things go. Or maybe it's that she did him a good turn and her situation here smells fishier than a sushi restaurant after a power outage.

-

The visible Audrey heads further down the street, then turns a corner and disappears. Invisible Audrey, on the other hand, heads for an alley along the way, somewhere she can- Seriously, this guy is still following her? Carefully, she sets the food down on the edge of a trash can, then takes cover behind a dumpster. "I don't want to hurt anyone," she calls back toward Jericho. "But I'm not going back there."

-

Misfit leans deeper into the alley when the girl walks off down the street, but the guy he is coming right at her alley, if slowly. This causes her to retreat up onto a fire escape in the alley above a dumpster.

So to recap, Misfit is very startled when the girl, invisibly, calls out from under her perch behind the dumpster she is above. She also shows up on Jericho's thermal up on the fire escape.

-

Oooooookay. Two of them now. It takes a moment for him to realize that he's looking at two different people. "I'm not here to take you back. I thought you might need help actually." He calls back. Jericho's hands are up now to show that he's unarmed. Well, he is armed but let's not quibble. He doesn't have a weapon in his hands and if Audrey's retreated to backup (and he thinks she might have) he doesn't want to get jumped. "We've met before, but I doubt you'd remember me."

Which is… not exactly a lie.

-

"I would remember if we'd met." Audrey sounds entirely certain about that. Staying invisible, though, is taxing, and she has the feeling she may need more power later. She drops the power for a moment, leaning around the dumpster to get a look at Jericho. "Unless you passed through the program. In which case, I'm even less interested in hanging around here right now."

-

Misfit stays very, very still. Unaware that Jericho made her, damn infrared. She does palm a batarang though and s ready to do something if she needs to. Mostly though she keeps gathering intel. The fact the girl appears like that, well very interesting. Doesn't seem to be teleporting. Maybe some sort of invisibility cloak like in Harry Potter.

-

Jericho keeps his hands in the air, but lets his traces pulse just long enough to be seen, his wings flickering into existance behind him and then out again. "Different program." He actually doesn't know what program she's talking about. The information he has on her wasn't that detailed, but he's fairly sure she wasn't in his program so that seems safe to say. "And okay, to be fair there's a couple of big asterisks in front of 'met you before'." Still…

"Hey, I can see your friend up there. Can you tell her I'm not gonna try anything? She's making me nervous."

-

Audrey looks like she might be about to extend a little bit of trust. Someone else like her. Someone away from things. He could be trying to bring her in. But most of the people she knew weren't covert enough to do it like this.

Friend? Audrey doesn't have a friend…

At Jericho's words, she presses back against the side of the building, sending up a flare of light in Misfit's direction.

-

From up on the fire escape there is a "Hey!" and then a flash of pink and purple smoke >pinkurple> and the young woman in the costume is gone. It .. kind of looked like a caped sort crouched with something in her hand. Of course Misfit is now down on the alley floor itself about ten foot further down it behind Audrey in that blink "Look the lady wants to be left alone winged stalkery guy."

-

The moment that flare of light goes up Jericho's traces flush blue and he reaches for that case behind him. There's a clank of metal on metal as the device inside it unfolds into a sword. "The hell? I… take it that's not someone you know then?" The Hacker has moved to one side of the alley to give Audrey a clear shot past him if she decides to bolt and at this point he wouldn't blame her.

"I think she does, yes. I was gonna offer some help. Who are you again?"

-

Now there are two of them. Two makes a team. Two also makes a distraction. Audrey sees her chance, and she snatches her bag of food and makes a run for it, drawing shadows around herself as she does. She's not going back there!

-

Right distractions. She disappears in a flash of smoke >pinkurple> when Audrey starts to bolt deeper into the alley. Appearing behind Jericho at the mouth of the alley, out of easy sword reach "Names Misfit and unless she is some sort of bad guy.. and it didn't sound like it. You shouldn't try to force her to take your help. Send her a note or something with how to contact you.. or a burner phone under her door or something. I mean.. your all stalkery so I assume you know where to tag her."

-

The sword flips around so the blade end vanishes and… er… now it's a gun. "Hi Misfit." Jericho looks past her for a moment as Audrey vanishes. "I'm going to assume you've never been on the run for you life before. So let me tell you that if it had been me, I wouldn't have taken a burner phone or note from just anywhere or anyone. You kind of have to talk to people before they trust enough for that. Also, please don't get closer."

-

Misfit eyes the blade to gun trick "Interesting." she is holding a batarang in her hand as she studies you. "If I wanted to kick you in the head I wouldn't be standing here, I'd be kicking you in the head. But you seem like you may have actually trying to be helpful instead of stalking… also totes way cool gunblade thingee."

-

"Yeah, I noticed you're not kicking me in the head. That's why I haven't tried throwing a car at you yet." Jericho grins. He actually kind of likes this girl. Peppy. And confident. Which she probably needs in this city. "And thanks."

The gun lowers slowly. "She's got people after her, I'm fairly sure. I don't know who other than 'government' and I don't know why. Not really tried to find out. But if she's here in Gotham she may pop up again…" Or run afoul of some of Gotham's rather infamous criminal element…

-

Misfit frowns "Well if she is staying in Gotham, I can make sure we are on the look out for her in these parts. We have.. a lot of eyes on the town." One Oracle means a lot of eyes. "I don't think I've seen you around here though. I'm pretty sure you will end up getting the lecture if you are new."

-

"Oh I've gotten the lecture." Jericho laughs. Now that device is folding again and sliding away back into his case. "From Robin and Spoiler and Oracle and now you. And may answer is always 'Batman doesn't deal with international conspiracies and if he really wants to have cars thrown at him, or large vehicle mounted grenade launchers shot at him that's fine."

Apparently, he's not particularly worried about 'the rules'.
-

Misfit says wryly "Pfft.. we are talking about Batman. He could be dealing with international conspiracies and having cars thrown at him all the time and no one would know.. because duh.. Batman." flawless logic really, and probably true. "Still if Oracle has lectured you I will circle up with them later about you." not her, newp Oracle is mysterious and all right. "So why would the government be hunting her.. the invisiblity is cool.. and illusoins I guess.. magic.. tech… mutant…?"

-

Jericho shrugs. "Beats me. Could be any of the above. All I know about her was that the paperwork on her missings persons report is fishy and the way it was done stinks of a cover up of some kind. I'll do some digging. In the mean time do the girl a solid and don't mention her to the cops. That'll only get back to who ever's after her, if I'm right."

-

The teenage redhead crimefighter in her seriously clothes hamper crime fighting outfit gives you a skeptical look. "Do I look like I am speed dialing the cops to turn in a scared girl on the rune.. I mean seriously?"

-

"Never hurts to mention. Cops are normally thought of as good guys." Unless you're Jericho and have spent the last two years of your life realizing that there are people out there who can wield the entire law system as a weapon against the very people it was intended to protect.

-

Misfit shakes her head "She hasn't broken the law or anything, only one person I am going to tell.. okay maybe several people but none of them are a cop they are all in my line if work."

-

"Fair enough I suppose. You've got Snake problems in this down and I'll be following up on that girl again, so I imagine you may see me." Not that he'd necessarily, you know, fly over and say hi, but just a heads up.

-

Misfit nods all serious like, then blinks "Snake problems… what kind of snakes… I mean… we do have devourer cultists.. I think their thing is a snake…"

-

"HYDRA." Jericho cants a head and gives Misfit an odd look at 'devourer cultists'. He's not heard of that one. Sounds bad. "Bad people who want to run everything. And I do mean everything. Things are bad enough here that they're starting to stick their fingers into pies."

-

The young woman wrinkles her nose up there "Well.. they sound like jerks to me. Weren't they all WW2 and stuff?" she frowns "I'll let people know though I imagine O knows already."

-

"She does. I've discussed it with her, but as I said, your folks don't ordinarily deal with it. Well, so far as I know. I do." And that's mostly because the methods required to do so are either too expensive or too extreme so far as he can tell but in truth, he's never really asked why.

-

Misfit hmmms thoughtfully "You might be surprised. Im sure the Batman won't like these snakes in his city.. so we will see I guess." she smiles though. "So what is your name."

-

"He shouldn't. They're dangerous, ruthless and insidious. And they will do absolutely anything for power. Anyhing at all." Jericho shakesh is head, but at the idea of HYDRA here on top of everything else, not at Misfit. "You can call me Aspect. Oracle knows me by that name."

-

Misfit smiles and says wryly "He is Batman." like well Jericho don't know nothing about it. "I won't be chasing them I'll talk to the big O about it." she shrugs.

-

If Oracle wants to send her teams after the Snakes, Jericho won't complain. He is after all, one guy. But his methods and the Bats are pretty opposed. He knows that already, so he won't be particularly looking for any collaboration.

-

At the silence, she breaks it "Well nice meeting you Aspect. Be seeing you." and purple and pink smoke >pinkurple> and she is .. gone without a trace.
