One really has to wonder why Advanced Idea Mechanics insists on wearing those bright yellow suits and helmets like that. I mean sure not all of them do, some of their operatives wear pretty traditional badass operative gear. But the vast majority wear those funny yellow suits, like radiation suits meets scientist geek soldier suit. Still AIM will sell advanced technologies to anyone willing to pay the price for their evil Genius so most customers don't make fun of them.

Case in point, a small cell of Terrorists with deep funding contacted AIM to provide them with a weapon that would cause mass civilian casualties, so they wouldn't have to try to smuggle it in or build it themselves, both of which are likely to be detected by various intelligence agencies.

It didn't work out to well for anyone involved though as one such Intelligence Agency did get wind of the clandestine arms deal on a fairly quiet dock in the harbor, and attached supposedly empty warehouse.

We cut to the one hero and various SHIELD assets that got embroiled in the resulting conflict in action, a scattering of AIM agents down, several terrorists down, and a whole lot of energy and automatic weapon fire from the remaining AIM Agents, Terrorists, and the AIM subcommander (who it should be noted is wearing a very nice black leather outfit and strange multiple sensor headgear).

***

Janet is zipping along at miniature size firing a volley of WASP Stings at one of the remaining AIM Agents and proving that whatever those suits were made to do, they can't take the force of her wasp stings it seems. "I mean seriously, yellow yellow… bright nasty yellow yellow. Custard with a nice Marsalla would be good this year but not this … seriously you are even bucking the stereotypes… good guys wear yellow and black… bad guys wear purples and blacks…." she sighs and Stings one of the terrorists knocking him off his feet.

***

Melinda May is amongst the SHIELD assets that arrived to help stop the AIM weapons sale, though she starts off as the quinjet pilot. That got grounded quickly enough by stray weapons fire, and is thus now helping put the AIM people and their clients down. Decisively. Here's a possible distinction, though. While most of the other SHIELD combatants are firing various forms of projectile weaponry, the occasional AIM person on the fringes of the battle area seem to be abruptly disappearing, either by getting smacked VERY soundly or snared around the neck by a narrow length of something black flexibly fabric-like, and with a bit of sheen. Like silk.

***

Eliza can't resist the call to satisfy her curiosity when she picks up some internet buzz about automatic weapons fire at the harbor, especially since she has a remote near there. It startles a pigeon when it buzzes to life and heads toward the spot at a mind-bending One Hundred Kilometers Per Hour! It's really fast for a drone the size of a beetle, trust me. After meeting that Aquaman guy she's keeping her sonar in the 50kHz+ range, but if you hear it it sounds like chirps.

***

Ah well yes, the drone can make it there lickity split. The fighting has spilled from the docks to the warehouse the deal was going down, and back again. Lions Cats and Bears Oh my. Well SHIELD AIM and Terrorists oh my.

The subcommander is tracking the Wasp with her lens and finally reaches over and grabs an energy weapon from the AIM soldier by her and starts to lay down a blistering barrage of energy weapons fire at Janet, those goggles tracking her now.

The terrorists, well one of them hunkered down by the crate with AIM markings and gestures, they pop it open and one of them starts to arm the device while the other tries to provide cover.

One of the AIM agents pauses "Where did Frank go?" before firing another shot at the SHIELD Agents clustered by some crates dockside. "He was right by me…" looking into the shadows.

***

Wasp spirals out of the way "Oh woah lady…. cool goggles, very spider, but that is not really called for!" she ramps her speed up and keeps mostly dodging shots, those goggles are really tracking her despite her size.

***

When one of the AIM goons starts firing at Janet, that length of shimmery black comes shooting out from behind a stack of crates nearby and slams into the subcommander's head. Whatever the thing is, it's far more substantial at the ends. In fact, it makes an audible THUNK when it hits. Then a second later, May charges the subcommander and the person covering him with Taser-ended batons in each of her hands.

***

Eliza isn't really rigged for offense, but support is her game. First order of business is jamming enemy communications, so analyze the frequencies and protocols. No time to crack the codes but jamming doesn't need to go that far, especially since all you have to do is make it sound like a really bad Skype call to make it useless. She can help! She's clued in enough to know that Shield is the friendlies so. Other than that, the drone is hiding under the eaves of a nearby building, keeping a good view… She spots the charge and drops a hologram in from of the subcommander's facemask, a sheet of shimmery blue obscuring its face and vision.

***

Getting Agent May's whip thing to the side of her head like that is definitely enough to make her stop shooting and stagger. The subcommander is just human, smart, tactical, and well geared but not a superhuman anything. Then she is blinded by something. She reaches up and rips off her goggles thinking the THUNK hurt the headgear, yet still blue "What" not seeing May charging her like that.

The AIM agent by the subcommander does notice May and starts to shoot energy weapon bolts at her "Oh crap!"

The terrorist finishes arming the device and then hunkers down and covers the device with his buddy, occasionally firing at anyone getting close.

***

Janet freed up now spots the two bad guys by the crate and zips over and punches one in the temple dropping him and then stings the other soundly. A few moments later a woman from over yonder, Wasp, unseen but not unheard "Uh… little help here.. this thing is counting down…um.. crap what happened to dramatic countdowns… 30 seconds my ass… … this is going to hurt…" she hopes no one shoots her, but well she does something for the first time in public. She grows and clears her normal 5'4" and keeps on trucking, well eclipsing twenty foot she grabs the crate hauling it up and keeps on growing right through the roof of the warehouse with it causing a whole lot of debris to rain down. She hopes people, well SHIELD dodges. At one hundred feet she chucks the thing as far as she can. Of course at the height the crate is the size of a marble in her palm and wow does it go flying out ….. past the harbor over the ocean.

The resulting explosion out there is one hell of a lightshow though, blue and crackling and for a moment everything is quite bright.

Definitely not something you see every day, even these days.

***

Melinda May throws herself to one side to avoid the weapons fire from the AIM agent near the subcommander she just brained, and she mostly manages to avoid getting hit. One energy bolt came close enough to sear a stripe along her hip, but as much as that REALLY EFFING HURTS she refuses to let it so much as slow her down. The subcommander gets a Taser-jab aimed at her from one baton as May tries to disarm the agent there as well. And she's not pulling her punches. Not after taking that hit.

***

Eliza is, as she often is, struggling with sensory integration. There is only so much she can pay attention to. Still, it's not hard to sew chaos in the ranks and she does her best to do that. Phantom touches to distract, flashes of blindness, even little nudges on the barrels of the rifles at the right moment to change aim. She can't really hurt anyone but she can make it hard for you to do much.

***

The call went out to all units in the area regarding a disturbance. AIM and SHIELD on the scene, proceed with caution. Sara's unmarked car comes tearing up to the chaos, siren wailing and stick-on light flashing, as the detective slams on the breaks and spins the car into place. Right, so, there's a hundred-foot woman, and there's May, and…Yeah, that's a mess. She pushes open the door, drawing her gun and taking up a stance behind the car door. Anyone with an energy weapon is fair game, so the first shot goes toward the AIM agent firing one.

***

Such interesting timing. Mike has just finished a late shift recycling recent acquisitions at the junkyard, since he's been spending time in Metropolis at Stark Industries' request, and he's just flying back from Elizabeth (his junkyard is in Jersey. Don't laugh.) There isn't supposed to be an explosive device on his trajectory. But there is… and he catches it in midair. It's an explosive, he can tell because it's got bits and pieces that know they blow up, and a happy little clever machine that R
"You! Stop counting now!" he tells the clever machine in the package. It says "OK" in the binary language of explosive detonators, and tries to be tricky and explode, but Mike has already pulled the leads from the detonators — metallokinesis, a cheater's trick.

The flying robot takes the crate apart in midair, or rather, it takes itself apart. Then, well, he eats it. Those are some really useful components and materials, and some of them are things that really shouldn't be allowed to explode over the bay. The fish would not like it. Terrorists are idiots, AIM is perfectly happy to do what they paid for, and so forth.

He restructures into an armored, combat format while he follows the trajectory back, just in time to see a hundred foot tall woman… Now there's something you don't see every day.

***

The subcommander doesn't even see May coming. She gets tasered soundly and goes down in that herky jerky yelling with pain sort of way someone tasered by May does. The other AIM agent with her puts up a bit more fight blocking a couple of times with his energy weapon but yeah May can mop up the scientist no problem, he isn't a super soldier just an AIM agent. Especially with Eliza's help.

Speaking of Eliza's help. The guy that Sara shoots goes down hard and didn't seem to see it coming either, tricksy holograms.

Things are pretty much winding down, the last two terrorists were on the bomb crew that Wasp dealt with. The SHIELD assets on the dock mange to wrap down the last of the AIM scientists trying to make a break for a small spherical submarine.

***

Janet stares out at the weird jet thing "IS that a SHIELD Jet.. thing.. it ate the Bomb… I think… what …. " she sounds strained, she doesn't like being this big because wow it ain't the best feeling. She shrinks back down rapidly vanishing to Wasp sized once more and zipping over to Melinda May "There is this .. Jet thing.. it caught the bomb and is coming in fast."

***

Eliza peeks out from under the eaves to look at this thing coming in… assumes it has a cellphone and starts trying to get a com channel to the large machine. Most of the mopping up is done and people are clear of the site, so she's really just observing.

***

Sara lowers her weapon as the AIM agent goes down, checking the area for any other dangers. "What a mess," she mutters under her breath, hanging back. The deeper she gets into this, the more paperwork she's going to have to fill out. Unless she leaves it to the SHIELD personnel already in place.

***

Melinda May stares down at the agent, possibly debating whether or not she can get away with giving him one more kick, in retaliation for the burning stripe on her hip. But then Wasp is there talking to her and she looks at the tiny insect-winged woman. "Show me." She moves to follow where Wasp leads.

***

The weird jet thing stops with an unseemly disrespect of the laws of motion, tracking the … oh, size change, that's awesome. A second consciousness thread directs sensors to target any remaining AIM guys, because they're wearing giant beekeeper hats. Bright green lasers point them out, including some that aren't in range. (Combat systems. Mike has been adding them to his blueprints.)

Meanwhile, a bit of the jet the size of an average human's pinky finger drops off, growing its own wings, and follows the Wasp back to May. It looks like a miniature action-figure version of Mike with dragonfly wings.

"That was full of nasty poisons," Mike Dragonfly says mildly to the miniature woman, "So I ate it instead of letting it blow up. Hope you don't mind."

Meanwhile, Combat Robot Jet Mike opens a limited bandwidth conversational channel for whoever is trying to contact him.

"Hello? Can I assist you?"

***

The AIM contingent seems mostly under control, SHIELD agents moving to kick guns clear and start to check to see which AIM and terrorists are down and not dead, slapping SHIELD issue cuffs on them now.

***

Janet starts to fly out around the rubble with May in tow, to show her the Jet Thing and then there is a small flying guy her size. "Oh what the hell your not…" she stops before she says a name and she points both hands at Mike Dragonfly "Stop there….. uh.. whatever you are… and.. no I mean… that is probably .. good but who are you."

***

Eliza responds back Oh, hey there… You're the big thing flying over the harbor, right? I was just trying to be sure you weren't going to crash, you were moving in fast, you know? Anyway you have that taken care of it looks like. Crashing seems like a bad idea, I try not to do it at all… comes ELiza's bubbly voice. I'll let you talk to the big lady… she says and cuts the line. Back on the docks she looks around, doing her best to confound and confuse the enemy still.

***

Melinda May starts to follow Wasp, but stops short when the miniscule woman does. It takes her a moment to focus on Mike Dragonfly, but once she does, she sighs audibly and starts to put away her batons. "Drakos. Quit scaring the locals and get in here." If he's feeling snackish, he can munch on some AIM weapons lying about. Yes, May knows that SHIELD prefers to 'impound' the weapons, but she herself prefers to see them go away and never come back.

***

Sara holsters her service weapon once more, then shuts the car door as she steps away. Whatever else is going on, she recognizes May, so that's where she heads. "Agent May," she calls over with an upward tip of her chin. "Looks like you guys had quite a party out here."

***

"Hello, Agent May," the dragonfly-sized guy says, and since the AIM guys are targeted, their unclaimed energy weapons begin to fly up to the combat-robot chassis, which restructures down to a 12 foot tall humanoid form as the weapons sort of melt into its frame.

***

"I've got the gas payload from that bomb that our friend wisely hucked far away from herself. SHIELD may want to analyze it, but it feels nasty and poisonous. I strongly advise that they find a way to neutralize it."

***

As soon as the AIM guys are arrested or collected, the combat-robot chassis lowers to the ground, turning over a double-reinforced and containerized structure holding the gas payload. He notices Detective Pezzini and waves in her direction… from the dragonfly.

***

Eliza has a nice hologram of herself walk out of one of the walls, a shimmery blue sun-dress over her less shimmer blue body. She looks a little like something out of an anime vision of cyberspace, only… there. Holograms rule. "Hi there!" she says using similar sonic tricks to generate sound at the right point. The dress and hair don;t move right tho, the wind is blowing the other direction.

***

The SHIELD Agents almost react poorly when the guns start flying up into the thing. They manage to not shoot at it though.

***

Janet grows back up to her normal human height, shedding the wings per usual at about the 4ft point and soon standing a respectable 5'4". Yes that is definitely Janet van Dyne, no minor amounts of fame there. "And…. right robots.. and " she squints at Eliza "Holograms.. is this a SHIELD hologram?" curious tones now as she studies the somewhat there girl. Then she looks to Melinda May "You in charge of these agents?"

***

Melinda May nods to Mike Dragonfly as he 'eats' the AIM weaponry then settles a containment tank down. She offers Pezzini a similar nod as she approaches, being even less talkative than usual. Really, it's because most of her concentration is going into not showing that the injury on her hip hurts something fierce. But again, not showing it. Not talking about it.

***

When Janet inquires about the hologram, May looks at the unlikely anime girl with a hard glare for a few moments while the agent actually in charge of the current op tries to get the still high-strung agents to stand down. Yeah, just about every SHIELD weapon in the place is now pointing at blue-skinned Minecraft Arrietty over there. She is NOT in the mood for this right now.

***

Sara looks between Eliza, Janet, and Mike for a long moment. Sometimes, it isn't the "weird" stuff that's really the weirdest. "This a SHIELD scene?" she asks May, pulling her badge out of her pocket to clip it onto her belt before anyone decides she doesn't belong here.

***

Eliza will someday manage to show up and not have weapons pointed at her, but that day may be long in the future. She doesn't act very threatening, unless you happen to be a kitten, then she might TOTALLY squee all over you. She does seem more puzzled than afraid of the guns tho. She smiles and waves her hand in a hello with a happy sunshine smile on her blue lips.

***

"The hologram is not hostile," Mike notes. "Or at least did not try to hack me."

The tall robot walks over and folds into a more compact shape, and a humanoid, looking pretty much like any other human with gold skin and chrome blue hair, walks out of the compacted material — which is to say, is extruded. Clothed even. The dragonfly lands on his hand and melts into him like some sort of creepy special effect.

"I did keep one or two of their guns for evidence and so SHIELD can check to see if they're being improved."

"I'm Mike Drakos, code name Metal, member of X-Men Red team," he says in introduction to the Wasp and to Eliza.

***

Janet eyes Mike and well, The SHIELD Agent Badass she is standing by seemed pretty chill with him so she extends her hand "Wasp." of course she isn't wearing a mask, her name is also Janet. "So.. well hacking isn't exactly the only sign of being on the side of angels and the SHIELD agents seem a bit unsure of her." she looks to the Hologram now. "She does look pretty friendly though all said.. and not really there I suppose being a hologram."

***

Melinda May nods to Sara, confirming that this is a SHIELD scene. And since everyone else is either staring curiously or getting bossed about by the agent-in-charge, she takes the initiative and steps forward to address Eliza-hologram directly. "Tell us your name and the origin of this hologram."

Despite her best efforts, even that small movement is enough to cause May's footsteps to falter slightly as it sets the injury on her hip to screaming again. Small comfort: the energy weapon pretty much cauterized the wound as it burned a little stripe out of her skin, so she's not bleeding everywhere.

***

"Great." It's hard to tell if Sara means that or not, but either way, she's headed back to the car to report back to the precinct. Or maybe just get permission to leave without having to do any paperwork. She's not that lucky, though, she fired her weapon. It looks like that could become a protracted conversation.

***

"You're injured, Agent," Mike observes. He waves a hand at the block of matter and a small first-aid kit comes out, and floats to his hand.

"Hope you have a better night, Detective," Mike says, nodding, and opens the case. There's a topical treatment for burns and other skin damage, and a spray bandage that would keep it from smearing, until she can get proper treatment. One might wonder why a robot needs these things. For the humans, of course. This means he appears not to be paying attention to the hologram, but that is simply an appearance. He has sensors watching.

***

Eliza smiles. "I was doing my best to blind the bad guys… distract and reduce their combat effectiveness. I'm sorry I didn't see the one who shot you in time, I was keeping the one being charged from seeing. Anyway, glad I could help, right?" she says almost bouncing with excitement. "Oh right you asked me a question. I'm Eliza and… Origin of the hologram? I'm projecting it, so… me? I'm sorry if i don't understand the question. I'm kinda new at all this."

***

Janet looks around and then smiles brightly "Well she is definitely very chipper isn't she…. little ray of sunshine or something. Emitting from where Eliza, I think you are just making people nervous, the whole not being here but there being super advanced scientists having just been arrested for selling a science bomb." she stops and looks to the container "I know a guy who could probably tell us what that stuff is?"

***

Mike glances at the hologram, and his sense-of-tech identifies the holobee. There's a faint radio noise, but nothing he can decode.

***

"The hologram is coming from a remote drone, quite nifty. Eliza herself is probably an AI, or someone using a virtual remote. I detect a constant signal to it, at a reasonable but not extremely high bandwidth. I detect nothing that would work as an offensive or lethal weapon normally. My apologies, Eliza, but I wanted to give May the information she needs to not shoot at you."

***

Eliza nodnods, not seeming to mind. "That's what she meant! OK… yeah, little drone. Got some class 3 lasers and some ultrasonic piezos. Anything more would make it weigh too much and then I'd have to re-engineer all the avionics, it would take me weeks and I have other stuff I want to do… like I met this Arthur guy and he got me thing about making a sub…" then she catches herself rambling and blushes.

***

Melinda May looks about to say something to Mike about 'shooting', but then he's got that first aid kit in hand and… holy CRAP that hurts! But rather than express that verbally, she lashes out at Mike, aiming to punch him and/or shove him away forcefully.

***

Janet's attention drifts away from Eliza to watch Mike and Melinda interact there, well he… brave. That may be the word for it. In the meantime she looks at the containment container "Hm."

***

Mike shifts slightly to avoid being punched. This may look unnatural and involve his head and neck doing things they shouldn't do.

***

"May, I am 300 pounds of mostly metal-shelled graphene and steel, and punching me would be bad for your hands. If you wish I will adjust my body so my head pops up when you hit me, but seriously. I haven't done anything with the first aid kit yet, you're just feeling the adrenalin wearing off. If you want to use these, the antiseptic has a mild pain reliever in it."

***

Actually? Mendacious robot guy did almost unconsciously use some directed tech-manipulating energy to release the melted fabric out of her skin, where it's partly fused in, because the docs would use a debrider to do the same thing. And it probably did hurt a bit.

***

Eliza hmmmms. She doesn't need to actually look at stuff to scout it out, since her sensors are over on the drone. Still, she tries because she's seen research that people need that sort of thing to avoid uncanny-valley reactions. It's why she applies a fake wind to her hair and clothes too. "So what was happening here, anyway?" she asks.

***

Melinda May glares at Mike for a moment, then huffs. "Fine. Get it over with." She looks about, possibly for a place to sit or maybe a place to hide from the rest of the SHIELD contingent here. Medical is the LAST place she wants to end up, and with their quinjet downed in the fight she can't exactly hide in the pilot's compartment like she would normally.

***

Janet tilts her head concerned stepping closer to look at May and then she thinks better and moves closer to Eliza now. "Arms deal gone bad for the bad team. So are you actually an AI or are you just remote projecting yourself through the drone?"

***

Mike calmly sprays the antiseptic/analgesic, a sharp cool sense of relief on the skin, and then seals it with the bandage spray.

"There, you still need to see medical, but you can do it at your own leisure. That's an energy weapon burn, they'll want to make sure it won't necrotize," the robot says. "Nobody remembers that side effect until their flesh is turning green."

And with that charming and not at all ominous declaration, Mike puts the first aid kit away.

***

Eliza ponders the question and says "I must be remote projecting… there isn't enough space in the drone to properly run a true AI, since it's the size of a bug, barring some computing technology that would enable sub-atomic circuitry. Singularity-based quantum computers for instance… but for those the cooling requirements would add enough mass so even that… Oh wait, so what is your real questions?"

***

Janet listens to the technotalk, she has to listen to a lot of technotalk in her life really so this isn't really all that unusual. "Well. Are you a remote projecting AI, or are you some sort of tech person like Stark?" she tries to make it a bit more straight forward.

***

Melinda May flinches as Mike applies the antiseptic, and her hand reaches out toward Mike again, though this time it's not to hit him. Just as he predicted, the adrenaline crash is hitting her much harder than usual because of the injury and as the analgesic starts to work the entire warehouse goes … wobbly on her. "Damnit," she grates. Do NOT fall over, May.

***

Eliza looks over at Mike with a 'this person serious' kind of expression, then back to Janet. "Um… I'm definitely a person…"

***

"You need a ride back to SHIELD?" Mike asks, knowing May doesn't like to show weakness in front of the troops. Even if she's about to go into shock. He looks at the techno-block, and it reforms into something vaguely like a two-seater.

***

Janet nods to Eliza "Interesting." she has experience with AIs and computer genius types after all. She looks the hologram over "Well that is still pretty slick, I can think of a lot of commercial applications with some interface gloves one of my people has been toying with. If you ever want a job applying those technologies reach out to me. Though hard light constructs would be more interesting than holograms but not very feasible for commercial applications."

***

Eliza nods, tho Janet really missed the subtleties in her answer. "Hard light? Not sure how that would work… Air is opaque in the wavelengths you'd need to manipulate matter that way, or you're off into centimeter scale microwaves which have whole other issues. Sonics are far better for dealing with that stuff since the propagation speeds are hundreds rather than hundreds of millions of meters per second."

***

Melinda May appears to be considering Mike's offer for a moment. Just long enough actually for the replacement SHIELD transport vehicle to arrive. "No. I'm fine." She squares her shoulders to head back to where all of the other agents are, and she hesitates for a moment. "Thank you, Drakos." Then she starts off and meets one of the medics partway. Clearly, the medic was given the memo ahead of time, as there wasn't even an attempt to touch her as she limps into the new quinjet and disappears from view.

***

Janet nods to Eliza "I'm sure…. and yes sonics are interesting stuff. Could make constructs out of them I'm told though it is all theoretical. Still if you do want to talk work you should call my people."

***

Eliza nods. "Allright… who exactly are 'your people', since you suggest calling them?" she asks.

***

Janet sighs "I would have figured you would recognize me, good blow to the ego." she smiles amused "moc.enyd|tenaJ#moc.enyd|tenaJ" she looks around "Well I am off, nice meeting you." she sudden shrinks to about half an inch, wings sprouting sub four foot there and she flits up and starts to head off.

***

Eliza says, "Oh…. that's who you are… huh. Bye!"
