Misfit had asked Fenris to help her develop her magical talent. Which makes her the second person to ask Fenris to help them learn something. So after finding the artifact he's looking for, he opens a way to go get the eponymous young lady. Unfortunately portaling in on a portaler is an inexact science and the Old Wolf finds as he yanks Charlie to his place in an otherdimensional space that his portals have… refracted a bit. Oh well. It's not especially likely to bring anyone else to primordial forest in the Neverwhere. I mean, they could open anywhere, right?

-

Misfit looks a little bit green around the gills. For someone who bounces, her version of teleporting, all the time. Most recently to the himalyas for instance, she really doesn't seem to like other people's portals one bit. No sir. On the otherhand Misfit does seem quite thrilled to see this primordial forest in the Neverwhere "Awesome….."

-

Teleporting is tough to get used to. Rain hates teleportation solely because she often ends up naked and covered in chocolate, in drag or in England. She really has no idea why, and all three scenarios are a bit inexplicable. She and Captain are likely currently divining. Or crafting a portal. Who knows? Nevertheless, Rain's Manor seems to have its own will sometimes (or it feels that way) and the two are summarily dropped in midair near the two.

Fortunately, Rain pulls her magic broom, so there's a broom, a witch and a cat dangling off the witch's back. "Owowow." "TAKE US DOWN. Just because I CAN land on my feet doesn't mean I want to!"

-

There's a soft 'pop' sound and Zatanna appears out of nowhere and looks around. Seeing Fenris and Misfit, a little way in the distance, the Mistress of Magic sighs and begins walking towards them. She's been here before and recognises it. Dressed in a rather smart business suit, it seems the young magician was heading to some form of meeting, guess she's going to be late.

-

Fenris looks rather pleased as Misfit appears. He has a small set of crystals of various color to use from clear through the rainbow down to black all laid out in front of him. "Misfit, there you are. Ready to…" Then he feels Zatanna's presence and hear's Captain which means also Rain. Oy. "What are the odds, I said. Oh boy." The old wolf looks up at the dangling cat then over to Zee with a shrug. "Sorry about that."

-

Misfit keeps looking around fascinated, then up to Captain and Rain, and then over to Zee, and back to Fenris "Ready… though why is everyone else here?" man she hopes the whole being ready for what she is ready for doesn't end up with either Titan making there be another meeting about a Titan and an Asgardian and Magic.

-

Happily, Rain and Captain manage to lower themselves with the broomstick, so neither lands with a thump. "It's okay. We weren't sure what happened. Maybe portal magic near the basement is unwise," Rain considers. "You're forgiven," Captain offers. Bet there's some huge mountain fish. "We won't look if you feel shy about practicing. Maybe I'll check for a stream and fish or something," Smile.

"It's good to see you. And we can just help or hang out." Yes.

-

Zee is still walking towards the group as Captain and Rain land and waves to the group. She shrugs back at Fenris and casts a mischievious grin "At least you're not turning up in my room and telling me it's because of some 'sympathetic connection' we have" she shrugs again "These things seem to happen, normally for the better."

"Don't worry Misfit, I won't muscle in on your fun" She peers at them then "What are you doing here anyway?"

-

Fenris coughs. "By accident. Your hard to focus portals on. Something about your power. However…" The Old Wolf brighens a little. "It's good that you're here. That'll make things easier. I'd promised to help train Misift here and step one is finding out where her talent lies. I was going to run these one at a time, but with three mages… ladies, would you mind helping me divine the nature of Misfit's magical talent?" He indicates the crystals laid out in front of him. "Misfit, either way,I'll need you to go stand in the circle."

-

Misfit has the decency to look sheepish, probably about the whole asking Norse Gods to train you and all. Hey she learned it by watching you Raaaaain. "right!" she says a bit manic there and then heads over to the circle, stepping over and into it "Will this hurt?"

-

Rain does her best to be a good influence! Really! Rain herself is genuinely an innocent, too. Funny how that all works. She looks amused to Zee, eyes widening. "Yeah, that would be way more awkward. Or my basement. But it is kind of fun to have people by." She nods as Z mentions not coming in on the fun. At Fenris' words, she looks to the crystals. "Not at all." Token witch representing. Or something. She sets her broomstick down nearby.

"Which one would you like?" She lets Zatanna choose first. Captain? Captain… is scratching a tree. "oh, maaaaaan."

-

"Being dropped in on at the end of massage might have been more awkward…" Zee ponders that thought for a bit as she looks at the crystals. "Sure, I can help." Picking up a crystal with a pretty green hue, Zee holds it in her hand and looks to the circle "Do you want us at each point, Fenris?"

-

"A triangle will do yes." Fenris hands a Ruby one over to rain and picks up an amythyst one himself. "It shouldn't hurt, Misfit. Unless you have some really obscure dark aelven parentage or something like that. Which seems unlikely." The Old Wolf moves over to form a triangle with the other two women. "Basically, the crystals are attenuators. Put magic in, charged magic comes out. We're going to zap you with it all at the same time and see which one resonates with you. You'll know because you start glowing that color."

Rain and Zee get a nod of thanks. "So, these are really simple charms. I'm sure you can figure out how to work them. Whenever you're ready."

-

Misfit does note at this point helpfully "Well I don't really no my dad, but my mom seems unlikely to have ever slept with a dark aelven?" she holds still in the middle of the circle there. "Do we get to know what the colors mean if I glow from them.. and can you have multiple colors like rainbow bright or is this just a solo color thing?" no one said stand in the circle and be quiet.^t

-

Rain will take the ruby one handed to her. She nods, and pauses. Rain considers it. Well… She's glad to help. She will make a triangle with the others, with Misfit in the middle. "I hope it's not like that Simon says game. I sucked at hitting the colors on that thing," She remarks. "I suspect it's like many divination rituals. We may get a clear result, it may be open to interpretation." She will take her place.

-

"It's possibly helpful, Misfit" Zee grins at the young woman in the middle of the circle "If you are quiet while we do this. We need to concentrate and I'm sure you'd hate it if we misfired our spells." She winks at Misift as she takes her place. Nodding to Rain and Fenris, she smiles brightly "Channel power into the crystal, aim it… result or not." Zee moves to one place on the triangle, Fenris has indicated "Say when, Fenris."

-

Misfiring the spell would be… funny. These probably can't hurt misfit. They might turn her hair rainbow colored or her clothes into a unitard and fishnets or something like that if the user isn't concentrating when the spell goes off. "She should glow a single color. Glowing multiple colors would be… interesting. Now."

Fenris' crystal glows and shoots a beam of purple light right into Misfit.

-

Misfit squints at everyone .. she opens her mouth to keep talking, but then Zee is saying it could cause a misfire. She shuts her mouth a mff and keeps quiet. Watching with barely continued enthusiasm. At least she isn't vibrating. Yet.

-

Rain's magic is concentration based. This is pretty second nature to her, although she has run afoul of the fact that minds are like curious howler monkeys. They like to hop around, reminding you of this and that and that and - hey! Captain is busy getting his scratch on on a huge tree. It's good clawtime. Rain will fall quiet, looking completely zoned out. She seems serene, distant. Almost like the lady you see at the end of the light. Sorta.

The ruby crystal glows and joins Fenris' crystal in SHOOTING A LASER BEEEE- nah, just a light, glowing beam of red magic.

-

Zee winks once at Misfit, offering a grin just as Fenris speaks. Her magic… sigh… she still needs to speak, or write.

~ gicaM otnI latsyrC, sucoF nO tifsiM ~

And her crystal glows and a beam of green joins the other two beams, focussed on the 'not quite vibrating' woman in the middle of the circle.

-

Things are about to get much worse for Captain. Glowing isn't the best word for the next sequence of events. Red and Purple sort of make pink, like Misfit's bounce smoke when she teleports. A reddish pink if anything but the interesting effects are the red. The glow ramps up becoming very bright and then fractures and Ruby Red light reflects outwards into a thousand laser pointers lighting up the forest. Not just outwards but also blazing up and around as those beams hit things and richochet back at Charlie. Through the red glare it almost looks like she has a jagged halo of ruby light. Or something like a halo, she is definitely not an angel this one.

-

Poor Captain. His eyes are wiiiiide in that way that only cats can manage when something catches their eye. He wiggles his back side but fortunately, he has a tree to stay on. Rain manages to keep her concentration, but there's a blink from her. Interesting…

-

Zees concentration wavers only a little and she cants her head at the effect. "Oh, that is cool." Her green crystal doesn't seem to be having any effect at all and she glances at Fenris with a raised eyebrow - should she stop this one channeling? - This might be magic, but the basics of good investigative practice still applies.

-

Fenris chuckles. "Well now we know which one it is." He grins as he lets his magic fade. "Misfit is a chaos mage. Which isn't surprising. It does mean we'll have to go over meditation though. Emotional control is very important to chaos magic. Though it also means that Rain and Zee can help teach you things as well. Chaos magic is quite adaptable to most things."

-

Misfit squints through the light, though that ruby glare won't fade until Rain is done channeling. When she is done though Charlie will be squinting "Red?" curious tones. Her clothes are not the clothes she was wearing, thankfully she wasn't wearing her new suit but rather jeans and a t-shirt when she got yanked. These clothes are a mix of armor and very stylized formal (not in the black tie sense) attire, dark red with black and white highlights running through it. "Well.. everyone said I was chaos flavored.. adaptable is good right." she hasn't noticed yet.

-

Rain will stop, and let poor Misfit be. No sense blinding everyone, right? The ruby light fades in turn. "Oh, thank heaven," Captain phews. He was gonna go for the laser pointer. She nods. "Congratulations. It's a good first step."

-

Zee lets the power from her crystal die, not that it was having much effect. "Keith said it was chaos magic too… didn't he?" Captains obvious relief has the young magician grinning "Sorry, Captain, I'm not sure anyone was expecting that."

-

Fenris blinks. He'd been expecting to discover Misfit's magical inclinations. Not have her otufit change. But chagne it did. Into a crimson armored form. Which leaves him stroking his chin. "Well that's odd. Misfit has that ever happened before?" He's addressed Charlie but looks to Zee and Rain as well. They're her team mates, they might know.

Misfit herself fairly glows with power that resonates with that ruby red crystal. Not visibly anymore but Zee and Rain can clearly feel it. They didn't just find a match. Somehow they found an exact match.

-

Charlie blinks "What is odd?" she looks down at herself "Holycrap!" tugging on the red material and poking the armored section there, the center of the chest piece almost has what could be described as a red starburst, a bit gem shaped. "uh.. no." she manages confused. She just teleports, bouncing, never shown a lick of ability otherwise.

-

Huh, neat. Rain looks a little baffled. "Interesting. I guess she might be operating under a principle not unlike some dictated by quantum physics. By observing her ability, we seem to have changed it." Pause. "I think I should stop now." She goes to check on poor Captain. He looks like he just witnessed a rave as he's scratchin' on that big ole tree.

To Zee, Captain remark, "It's all good. I just - uh. Magic can only change a cat so much…"

-

Zee just looks at the young woman in the middle of the circle "I've not really had much chance to work with her… I haven't seen much of her abilities." The raven haired woman frowns slightly and moves towards the centre of the circle "Can't you feel you feel it… it's still there… " She'll reach out a hand to touch Misfits shoulder.

-

Fenris puts the crystals down. "I can and it's going to be there a while likely until she finds a way to bleed it off." The Old Wolf shrugs. "But she's in no danger. Now, Misfiat, as Zee or Rain will tell you most mages visualize their spells in different ways and it takes a lot of practice. Your bouncing isn't a spell per se but I need to know what you're thinking when you do it. For example, I know Zatanna can teleport." He glances over.

"How do you do it when you do, Zee?"

-

Misfit uhms very eloquently there "I .. just want to be somewhere and I am there.. like .. I want to be at the bat bunker.. or the castle or the ice cream shop and I am there. Also people.. like I want to be where you are and I just .. am." which is very potentially disturbing when taking to extremes.

-

For her part, Rain will answer the questions as she can. They will notice that her magic is will working. Things happen because she wants them to, and she channels through a relic to have her will affect reality. And frankly, no one would ever take her seriously with a 12 inch wand. Like, ever. Her teleportation is based more on mathematical and physics-type properties. She understands these rules, and she summarily breaks them over her knee. This is of course, after Zee answers.

-

Zee has to think about how her teleport works… which might be it fails from time to time… or sympathetic links get mixed up the equation. "For me…" the young magician says slowly "it's about visualising where I want to be and then I 'bend' things so I can be there." she shrugs, no one said magic made sense. "That might explain why I get pulled of course though… something or someone could totally affect it."

-

Fenris nods. "For me I tear open a place, step to another place and go from there to a the place I want to go. I just do it very quickly most of the time. As for you… you just imagine where you're going. Which makes sense for a chaos mage. You have desires, you put magic to them, and they happen. Teaching you how to do your magic is pointless, you'll learn on your own. Chaos. But teaching you how to grab and feel magic so that you can do that? That's where I come in, and that's where we're going to start today. Zee, would you care to stay for the lesson?"

-

Misfit taps the chest armor again and then gives a bit of a wiggle liek she is adjusting to the weight of it all. "How the heck does one feel magic…" evidently she doesn't feel it in herself right now for some reason, despite what you lot feel about her. She looks to Zee and then to Fenris.

-

Zee grins at Misfit, Zee often doesn't feel her own magic… It's taken her nineteen years to get this far. The raven haired woman shrugs "You learn to… really, it's so much a part of you, it just feels like it 'is'." A small hand gesture, almost waving the question off, "Each of us 'see' our magic differently." Looking at Fenris seriously, Zee nods slowly "Yes, I think I might."

-

"Well… you'll have to forgive me. The first few times you'll probably need help buuuut." He reaches out and metaphysically yanks at Misfit's magic. "A bit like that."

Zee knows how to do this and Fenris knows that. The bit of the lesson for her is letting her watch the techniques he uses. Long practiced asgardian techniques for manipulating the energies of the universe.

-

That yank is a bit of a flare up again, the light surges back up to the visible spectrum. Hmm definitely something a bit like a halo of jagged ruby light around Charlie's brow and head then it is gone.

-

Charlie notes "Ok.. that was.. wierd… exhilirating and all but really felt quite strange… so you just… find it in yourself to make that happen?"

-

Zee frowns at Fenris as he manipulates Misfit magic, and the younger womans response. But she nods "Basically… you'll feel when it's right and" she shrugs with a wry look "it just happens." Casting a look to Fenris, Zee narrows her eyes and considers what he just did.

-

"Sort of. I'll guide you through it the first time though you'll have to let me into your head which will also feel weird." And is itself a rather advanced magical technique that Zee may make use of one day. See? Fenris can multitask. Lessons for both the magelings. He flashes the raven haired one a grin, knowing she's watching.

-

Misfit considers this then nods "All right… how do I let you into my head." oh yes, Charlie's head, what could possibly go wrong with this scenario right.

-

Zee watches Fenris quietly, returning that grin as she reaches out with her magical senses. If he wants her to learn, he'll let her link and see how this works for him. "Patience Misfit… Just… trust that he'll do the right thing and remember, I'm here watching."

-

Fenris does. Let Zee link that is. "Just… don't fight me when I do… this…" There's rather abruptly the sense of a second presence inside Charlie's head. Fenris doesn't try to make her do anything but does call her attention to the way he's gathering up the energy inside her. And there's a lot of it. "Zee can you do a decent shield?"

-

Charlie holds very still and is introspective for once, trying to feel and 'see' what Fenris is doing in her own head there. "mm" is all she verbalizes. Also worth noting is that Misfit's head is a very unusual place. It is like there is a ruby mist over most of it there and infused with it, in the metaphorical metamagical sense. It makes things a bit slippery thought-wise. Digging deeper may be a mistake as well.

-

"I can" Zee is confident in that she can do more than a decent shield in fact "What do you need?" The sense of the link and being in Misfits head is disorienting for the Magician but she's watching intently as Fenris does his thing.

-

Fenris knows he can't teach Misfit quite this fast. But he does want her to get a feel for what the power within her is capable of, if not what she herself might do with it. "Put it up." Once Zatanna does she feels Fenris gather Misfit's power and suddenly (taking control of her arms) the redhead throws her hands up and a blast of pure chaos energy strikes Zee's shield.

"That… is why we're going to teach you this…"
