Fenris has learned that Misfit has chaos magic. Which makes sense given what he knows about the girl. Teaching her is then less going to involve instructing her in methods and techniques and more teaching her to teach herself without blowing up. Which is a thing chaos mages do. Semi-regularly. Sometimes they survive it though.

At the moment though all he's doing is prowling through the Neverwhere. As a wolf. The size of a car. This place isn't often visited, but every so often Fenris takes a look around to make sure it stays that way.

-

Maybe her metaphysical ears were burning from the thinking about her. Whichever it is, one moment you are alone in the Neverwhere, the next moment you have a weight on your shoulders and neck "So what is this place?" Misfit asks quietly.

-

The great black wolf looks up and chuckles. "Mmmmm. You know I'd just been wondering how far your talent for finding people extended. Crossing dimensional borders is quite a feat." In this form his voice is deeper and more rumbly, but unmistakably the same voice.

"This is the Neverwhere. It is a… place that is not a place. It is between. I come here to rest sometimes. Other magical creatures do sometimes as well." Mostly Fenris sticks to the forest. Which is quite extensive.

-

Charlie makes a thoughtful nose "I figured if you were hip deep in demons I could bounce back out." she leans down and hugs the giant wolf she is riding around the back of the neck, the Ur-Wolf doesn't have a saddle of reins and all. "Well this is the first time I have tried to bounce somewhere like this. I mean I was told not to bounce to Limbo or Asgard and.. I didn't really know where you were but neat right?" she grins "What kind of magical creatures and how big is it?"

-

"As big as it needs to be. Infinite if necessary." Fenris answers as they move silently (well but for the talking) through the woods. "Trolls, aelves, sprites, nymphs. Anyone who needs some space. Which is why there's so much of it. These forests are mine. Or at least, no one has dared to argue with me about it…"

"Limbo and Asgard I would stay away from not because you could not get there but because you might not like the welcome you got. Limbo… in particular might change you. It changes all who spend much time there."

-

Charlie yahs softly "It felt like it was scrambling at me trying to get inside my skin. The ice cream when we finally left was super nice but I haven't had a burning urge to go back there." she peers at the woods past your fur now. "So this place resizes to fit the need of the people who need it.. does the terrain change too then .. like this is your forest but theres oceans too and stuff?"

-

"Far far way, yes." Fenris nods and grins up at Charlie. "I need a lot of space. But that's neither here nor there." He pauses and thinks. "Care for a lesson? In how this all works?"

-

Misfit smiles back, she is in her outfit right now, the new costume. "Yes. As long as it doesn't transform my clothing… this suit took batwing a long time to make.. should I go change just in case?" she leans back up keeping a grip on wolfmane.

-

"It shouldn't do that." Fenris chuckles. That had been interesting. And amusing. "Okay let me…" He reaches up to Charlie's mind and metaphorically 'takes her hands' to show her how to grip her magic. He'll probably have to do this a few times. "Now, imagine the place where you feel most comfortable. The place you go to be away from everything…"

-

The world slowly changes, realigning to a eighteen year old girl's bedroom. A decent sized one in a farmhouse from the look out the window. Posters of super heroes, especially bat themed ones are up on the walls. Oddly the whole thing has a slight ruby red haze to it though. Her mind that is not the scenery. "My room, my bat bunker."

-

Fenris smiles. "Well that makes sense to me. Your room yes? That's your magic making what's in your mind manifest. Which is both how your magic works and how this place works so it's a fairly simple lesson." He lets go of Misfit's 'hands' and keeps walking. "Understand?"

-

Charlie makes a very thoughtful noise there as she looks around at the woods once more now. "So magic and will makes this place change to suit the denizens.. man I always wanted to use the word denizens… what is this place really made of then.. some kind of nuetral ether or something?"

-

"Well it's not really made of anything. Which is why it's so reactive. It's not really a place. It's just inbetween." Fenris cants his head, thinking of how to explain it. "To be a place it has to have an identity all it's own. Neverwhere doesn't. It's only identity is in relation to other places. Specifically, that it's not any of them."

-

Another thoughtful Hum from the wolf riding batgirl knockoff. "Well okay that makes sense.. I like receptive ether though.. but tabula rasa place makes sense too right." Charlie blinks "Is it full of a lot of demigods and wizards supreme.. like some time share pocket realm?" oh so many video games.

-

Fenris smiles, though likely Charlie can't see it. "No. There are those, but they tend to be smaller and more isolated. Most rulers of pocket realms have them for extreme privacy. Hard to get someone dropping in on you if you have your own world you know? This is just sort of a shared space that's not anything else. Pocket realms are too discrete."

-

Charlie considers that "Well… I did say timeshare… sort of like the key west of magical not-realms maybe?" she smiles "This is an awesome place… it isn't trying to crawl into me like Limbo."

-

"It doesn't have that kind of magic. And it's not bound to the will of a ruler. It's just paying attention to me because I have the most magic around here right now." Fenris is, after all a god. "Come here if you need. You're welcome. Just watch out for the neighbors. Not that you should see any."

-

Misfit nods "Good to know… wood away from home or something then. Do I need to worry about that cult of druids around here or popping between realms like this Fenris?"

-

"They could in theory get here… but they like a bit more security." Fenris shrugs and then chuffs with a grin. "And I'd eat them. So there's that too. I doubt you'll have to worry about them but let me know if you see them."

-

Charlie leans back down into the fur peering through it at the endless woods. "Well I haven't seen them or their jerk face warp wolves since the time in Gotham when I got that cool staff. Which by the way is excellent for clubbing bad guys.. it won't break no matter how hard I hit them." she sounds teasing, she knows it is magic in other ways and all.

-

"It's good for that yes, though whomever made it is probably rolling in their grave." Which Fenris seems to find no end of amusing, so all's well there.

"You should talk to someone about additional weapons training. YOu're good but there's always room for improvement."

-

Charlie mms "Well I didn't kill him." she pauses then leans to look down at your head "Did you eat those druids that night?" then she leans back "I'm working on it. Lady B taught me firearms and all. Most of the training has been hand-to-hand stuff though which is good in Gotham. Sticks and fists and kicks. Batarangs. Not swords and guns. I do need to figure out how to shut down supernatural threats though which is why I wantedy ou to teach me the ways."

-

"The ones I took. No. I sent them to my sister." Fenris grins. "Which is where I was the other night. She was having some problems." Snake problems though the Old Wolf doesn't know that.

-

Misfit ohs and nods softly eaning back once more. "Who is your sister again?" she asks with curious tones. She knows the Loki connection and your horse sibling, but she can't picture the horse having druid's sent to it.

-

"Hel." Fenris says simple. "Ruler of Helhiem, where the dishonored dead go. She's busy. And generally more fond the gods than I am." Though that's not saying much. "But she is family and I do get down to see her sometimes. She doesn't get many other visitors."

-

Oh right. Charlie thinks about that and thinks she should probably be reading more books about Asgard or something. "Right … wait.. if you didn't kill them and I didn't kill them.. how could they end up in the land of the dishonored dead?"

-

Fenris grins. "Because I took them there. The living can go there. Hel doesn't usually deal in live souls but… she makes occasional exceptions." Oh dear. That sounds unpleasant.

-

Charlie opens her mouth, then closes her mouth. Then opens her mouth because come on like she wouldn't ask questions. "Wait is that where you send all the magic bad guys since blackgate and arkham can't hold them when we have run into them?"

-

"No no no no no." Fenris says. "That's where I send people who really, really upset me and try to destroy the planet in the name of mad serpent gods. I'm a wolf, Misfit. I just slay or eat the other ones. Or chase them off. Or put them in other dimensions where they can't hurt anything. Depends really on the situation."

-

Okay Misfit breaks down into some giggles at your wolfy protests, you can feel her shaking a bit with the laughter. "Okay.. okay got it. You can call me Charlie if you want too when we are not hunting bad guys. Are you cool with us putting them in jail if they arent going to mystically escape and aren't mythical monsters though?"

-

Fenris glanes up with a smile. "Charlie it is, then. This is probably going to sound pretty awful, Charlie, but I don't much care what one mortal does with another. Your laws change so quickly. Wait a hundred years - which isn't much time to me - and they're all different. I don't usually keep track of them for a reason. The only time I step in, generally, is when no one else can handle it or they've messed with something or someone that's mine."

-

The teen eyes the smile, this is a giant wolf smile after all. She archs a brow under her goggles. "Well I mean it doesn't sound that bad when you consider how long you live and that you aren't human." she seems okay with that. "I was more asking if they are just normal bad guys or villains we lock them up, especially if you are with me in Gotham. Less complicated home life right?"

-

"I am. I'm fine really with whatever's socially appropriate. Unlike some in Asgard I don't particularly think humans need to be told how to order their societies. Perhaps they need to be told when something is out of their league but beyond that I'm quite happy to let mortal laws govern mortal affairs as best they can. No one's perfect after all." Fenris chuckles. "Not even the gods."

-

Charlie smiles and looks at the woods once more, night in Neverwhere. "I like this place." it almost reminds her of something. "Also thank you for being the most reasonable wolf god I know Ur-wolf." she is mirthful if nothing else and asks "What is the next lesson oh alpha of mine?"

-

"The next lession…" Fenris grins sighting something ahead and preparing to run at a truly prodigous pace. "Is that there's always something over the next hill…" And then he's off. Neverwhere has many wonders. Charlie's about to see a few.

-

The young woman makes a meep of a noise and leans in pressing herself more flush on the back of the giant wolf as she gets a better grip on his mane of fur. Of course after grip is achieved she is laughing, which Fenris can hear and feel. Yeah she is obviously really enjoying this. Adventure!
