Spoiler is stalking her father, the Cluemaster having been in this area the last two nights. In her home, to be more precise. But that done, she is quietly sitting on a rooftop, dangling her legs over its edge, her weight through her hands as she watches the traffic below. The cape conceals her face, the black mask beneath covering her nose and mouth. The cape is… eggplant. Not purple. The outfit below is also eggplant, with touches of black. Robin met her and she snarked him, calling him a pervert so perhaps he reported that.

SHIELD Agent Melinda May isn't the sort that someone like Robing would tattle to. Maybe. Either way, he didn't tattle to her. May is here on her own, having made the trip down to Gotham despite really, really hating the city (she's got Reasons. Capital R.) mostly to talk with Oracle. Having done that, though, she's making her way back to where she left her current transportation. And, out of habit, she's been scoping the area for trouble. Unlike most troublemaking types, though, she knows to watch the rooftops. And doing so earns her a glimpse of a silhouette.

Thus, moving as nonchalantly as her training allows, May continues on past Spoiler's rooftop of choice, then double back, using a fire escape to climb up to meet the individual. Maybe she's hoping it's Robin so she can finally corner him and make sure he's doing okay. Either way, she makes it to the rooftop with almost as much ease as any of the usual caped types that frequent this city despite being dressed in a much more casual looking jeans and black jacket.

~

Spoiler is oblivious, her chin resting in her hands, her gaze fixed on the distant cars, and she sighs, finally moving. She rolls onto her feet, scrambling to stand on that roof. The movement to the side finally gets her attention and she turns, the cape swirling around her, her blue eyes widening over the mask.

~

Melinda May stops and stands still in a non-threatening stance. "Well. You're not the kid I was looking for." Though maybe this kid can relay a message to Oracle's wayward little avian. "Maybe you know him. Wears a lot of red."

~

The chin goes up, and she folds her arms, resting her weight through one leg. The tone is snarky, pure unadulterated snark. "Well, I'm not a kid so that would be it. And if you mean the Pervy one, I know him but we aren't friends." The stress on that last word gives the whole picture. Teenagers. Hormones. Fights.

~

Melinda May ahs and crosses her arms as well. "Fair enough. Do you know Oracle, at least?" She seems strangely at ease standing on this rooftop. Or maybe she's just trying to make it appear that way. If one is very observant, there are indications that her jacket is concealing something. Or multiple somethings.

~

The blank look is a reply, and then the snark returns, a jerk of her chin, "Yeah, and her sisters in Delphi too." At least someone is studying something. "Do I look like I know the people he would hang out with? Seriously? A creep in lycra who watches people get changed?"

~

"Agent Melinda May of SHIELD and Spoiler." A voice is thrown from darkness nearby. Someone or something landed there, but how long ago? It will take a moment to register just when but admist the Gotham winds the flap of a cloak or wings had briefly been a thing.

A tall figure has peeled itself away from shadow. A wraith given form is standing there semi-clad in the abyss and well armor. The Bat of Gotham has decided to show himself.

~

Okay, it's RARE when someone successfully sneaks up on May without cheating in some manner or other. Like Trent and that annoying little ice cream-hound of a demon. The unexpected voice manages to startle her enough get her to take a step away from its owner and drop into a defensive martial arts stance, though one hand is held far too close to her body to be anything other than a concealed weapon on the brink of being brandished.

~

Spoiler steps back when she is named, her foot slipping and she drops to her hands and knees to catch her balance. The swallow would be visible if her hood wasn't up, but the surprise is. It takes a moment to catch her balance and she straightens, her hand slipping to her belt, a escrima stick almost drawn in defense. "How do you know who I am?" Defensive, and then the snark, "I support lycra boy told you."

~

"We've met." Batman deadpans Spoiler momentarily. His gaze then slides from her towards May, "Oracle was playing hostess again?" Very little the man doesn't keep up on in the city. It is in his mind his after all. "Little late for social calls." A pause, the whistle of the wind rakes past them and his lips quirk just slightly, "And cold." No comment in regards to 'lycra boy' he assumes she means Robin.

~

Melinda May is doing a pretty good job of ignoring the cold, thank you very much. And she slowly straightens again, leaving whatever weapon she's got concealed under the back of her jacket in its place. "I've been keeping up to date with her about the occult-level goings on around here. They have bearing on New York and Metropolis." You want to know more? Talk to Oracle.

~

"We haven't." The certainty in Spoiler's voice is hard and she folds her arms, giving Batman a glare, "I'd remember meeting you." Her chin is lifted, an air of defiance to the lines of her body. But their conversation gets a glance between them and sarcasm rises to the fore, "Am I interrupting something? Do you two need a moment alone?"

~

"Hrm." Batman manages in response to Spoiler's retort. Not very vocal a reply but it's about as far as it will go with him right now, "They do. The source is not here, however. What have you learned so far?" May gets an inquisitive and discerning look.

~

Melinda May has to resist the urge to quote Inigo Montoya. Damn those nerds she has to be around all the time. "How much time do you have? Very short answer: It's very bad and getting worse." She looks over at the clearly defensively caustic kid and guesses by her behavior that she can't be much over sixteen.

~

That is enough of a reply to set the teenager off balance for an instant, and she takes a step back, her foot slipping on the rooftop, and May's glance seems to push her back, the little balance lost, the teenager sliding backwards down the slope, scrabbling for a handhold.

~

"It's always very bad and getting worse especially when magic gets involved. " Batman says to Agent May while watching Spoiler fall backwards he moves forward quickly, a shuffle of feet and the sound of a cape and he is standing where she is but not helping her. Just watching her scramble.
"Calm down and catch yourself." A test? Sure or the Dark Knight is just a dick.

~

The Batman might be a dick, but May isn't. She also moves forward quickly, and just as quickly, there's a narrow length of black fabric shooting out at Spoiler, aimed to either be catchable by the kid or maybe to snag one of her wrists or ankles.

~

Getting tangled is easy, getting untangled is harder, but she listens to Batman, her hands going flat on the roof and pushing off, a gymnast's movement. May's black fabric is reached for as the teenager landing in a crouch, intending to use it for additional balance. The movement is graceful, her landing as if she is on a gym horse, her hands lifting for that balance, her cape falling around her.

~

Batman's eyes narrow to slits as May interferes offering aid to the young purple clad woman. "What does SHIELD know about magic anyways? Isn't that a little out of your scope." No assistance is offered to Spoiler. The man fully expects her to get herself up on her own or by mean's of the SHIELD Agent's offer.

~

"Not anymore." If Spoiler snags the end of the sash, May braces to take the younger vigilante's weight if need be. "You've heard that our main headquarters was attacked." She doesn't phrase that as a question, she knows he had to have heard. "It was done using occult practices. Oracle can tell you more."

~

"The entire world heard." A voice that sounds very unimpressed replies and then the Bat is no longer standing there, no sound, no farewell, nothing, just gone. It is as if Gotham swallowed it's champion back in to the shadows it had just moments ago spat him out of.
The two women will of course encounter him again very soon. This was the Batman's version of saying hello after all.
