Jericho has found what he's looking for. It took a little while to locate an example that seemed suitable but he finally has and now that he has he's sent May, Fitz and Simmons all an invitation to meet him outside a warehouse in the Bronx. Simmons herself is… recently back from her excursion elsewhere, more than likely.

When they arrive the hacker is waiting in black tactical gear with the ever present leather blade case behind him.

***

They would have been here faster, but after May touched base with Fury to let him know where they were headed, she had to wait for Simmons to settle an experiment and then there was the usual getting BOTH scientists out the door with less than four duffel bags' worth of equipment. Each. But they're here. Finally.

May stops the generic black SHIELD SUV near the agreed upon warehouse and cuts the engine. Your show now, kids. Go.

***

Fitz has tried very hard to find an appropriate moment to welcome May back to the fold. On numerous occasions, he's opened his mouth, only to have her interrupt him with some order, or Simmons spouting off about something biochem, or his own easily distracted mind going all 'Oooh, shiny!' about something shiny.

So, when they are finally here, the Scottish engineer looks over to her and blurts it out. "I just want to say, that is, I'm gonna say it, if I may, and that is, well, Simmons and I, we're both bloody glad you're back in the fold." He smiles at May, expecting…. something.

The smile goes crestfallen. Perhaps if he'd waited a bit longer, there'd have been a response.

"Right, okay. Cheers, then." The door opens, and Fitz steps out into the bitter cold with a shiver.

***

Simmons scurried to get that experiment finished and really did try to pack less than 4 duffel bags but… who knows what she'll need on this trip. She did manage to drop it down to one bag though, the look from May was more than enough.

Shouldering her bag, she glances at Fitz's outburst and suppresses a smile.

Eyeing Jericho's gear, Simmons eyes widen slightly "Hello again, Jericho. How's K'Nert doing?" The last time she'd seem the little imp he'd been trying to look a little pathetic.

***

"Took him a few days but he patched up fine." Jericho responds. This… may be a bit odd to Simmons considering when she saw Jericho last. "Okay, so the Psytech is in that building. Which is empty. I checked. However the last few times I've run into this stuff it's tried to defend itself. Might mess with your mind or summon guardians. Not sure. Either way, I think if we can secure it you can do something useful with it."

The hacker has May's sash to return to her. He washed it… not that he's sure it'll do any good.

***

May follows the two scientists toward Trent, and accepts the sash back. If need be, she'll soak it in holy water. Or just burn it. Or maybe both. It's not like it's irreplaceable. In fact, she's already got a new one in her pocket now. "Guardians. Are they the mouthless things we've seen before, or something else?"

***

Pulling his jacket closer to his collar, Fitz approaches Jericho on Jemma's tail. "Hello, Mr. Trent," he starts, but there isn't a moment's hesitation before he's swinging his head around toward Agent May. "Mouthless .. things?" He looks from May to Simmons. "What does she mean, mouthless things?"

***

Jemma looks mildly confused for a moment as Jericho mentions the timeframe but then nods slowly "I see." she murmurs Fitz's look and mouthed question gets a small shrug, she's not come across these Guardians yet… other demons though. "I'm not sure, but it will be fine, Fitz. After all, we have Agent May and Jericho here to protect us." Turning her attention to the hacker, "Right then, Jericho. Is there anything we should know about protecting our minds before go in?"

***

"Well the first thing it'll probably try is telling you that you don't see it." Jericho says now leading them in the appropriate direction. "It can be fought off but it takes an effort. And yeah some of them were mouthless May. The Psychic cyborgs. Might be an issue if they port in but I've only seen them do it once."

The door to the warehouse opens and Jericho leads the group down a hallway to the main floor wherein, tucked away in a corner, is an ashcan sized device thrumming away. As it is approached there's a steady sensation of mental 'pressure'.

***

OH. It's one of those. May's encountered little objects like that once before with Jericho there. "I'll keep an eye on the perimeter," she offers, letting the two SHIELD scientist types get firsthand experience with the annoying little thing. Though she does pause to ask Trent quietly, "So these things are still appearing everywhere?"

***

"Well, of course." Fitz smiles towards May, then looks toward the warehouse with an expression mixing curiosity with dread. "Lead on, fearless leader," he mutters under his breath.

Once inside, Fitz' eyes fall upon the innocent looking thing, curiosity bringing him closer. Eventually though, he stops in his tracks, frowning at the bloody thing. "Huh. Well, that's… unpleasant." He glances toward Jemma, wondering if she feels it too.

***

Mays comment gets a questioning look from Simmons "Still appearing?" and turns attention to Fitz. Standing behind the scottish scientist, she narrows her eyes at the device. "Uncomfortable, certainly, Fitz."

***

"Yeah, they are." Jericho affirms. He's got no idea why. Again the familiar sensation of an outside thought. 'You don't see anything' along with a push. He's encountered it before and it's not overpowering, so he fights through it. "Alright. First thing will be to shut this damn thing o-"

That's as far as he gets. A pair of slim feminine figures appear in the middle of the room, behind Trent, Fitz and Simmons. They're clad in full body suits, appear to be armored and augmented… and then suddenly make fists as a pair of blades made of manifested psychic energy appear in their fists.

***

Damnit. May pulls her butterfly swords the moment the two figures appear. "Time's up. Grab that thing and move. NOW!" She charges at the blade-wielding pair, her own blades out. Hopefully they were focused enough on Trent and FitzSimmons that she has a brief element of surprise.

***

With the unfamiliar thought, Fitz frowns. He's about to remove an analysis device when the two figures appear, at which point he gulps. "Oy, I see that alright." When May gives the order, he looks over toward Simmons and nods his head toward her, getting on one side of the device and waiting for her help. The dam thing is heavy, but between the two of them, they ought to be able to carry it.

***

"Times what?" Simmons glances over her shoulder and blinks a couple of times before looking back to Fitz waiting for her. Rearranging the bag on her shoulder, she helps lift and carry it. "Well, this is a bit exciting, don't you think?"

***

Jericho spins, his blade unfolding and bracers appearing at the same time, just in time to ward off an attack from a psybernetic ninja. The one May threw herself at gets caught flat footed and takes a hit, but she's quick and augmented. She's back on her feet and engaging May with a flurry of blows in seconds.

"Right, so… guardians, as I was saying." The hacker has his hands full and the device Fitz and Simmons are lifting up is still pressing against their minds.

***

May doesn't have time to bark orders anymore, she's fully concentrating on not letting this … person skewer her with that weird blade. She lets the woman 'push' her back so they're a bit farther from the pair moving the device, then abruptly changes tactics, giving the woman a full kick in the ribcage the first time an opening presents itself.

***

"Oh yes." The sarcasm is all but dripping from Leo's mouth. "Bloody fantastic! It's like a clamp is being pressed onto my bloody heed! There must be some kind of brain-wave manipulation going on here!" It's almost as if Fitz nearly believes that there's nothing in his arms. Had it not been for the weight of the thing and Jericho's warning, he might have fallen for it.

A wince is stifled when they slip past Agent May. He's moving, but only as fast as his partner seems willing or able. "Ach! Bastarts!"

***

Jemma shakes her head to try and clear it, focussing on the device in her hands. She's moving as fast as she can to help Fitz move the device.

***

May actually knocks her opponent right toward Jericho who takes advantage of the opening to spin and rather neatly biscting the psyborg. When he does May can see the augmentations (and they are considerable) sparking and leaking. Then he's got his hands full defending himself again. Jericho's a good swordsman but so is his opponent. Fortunately… her back is to May.

The trip out to the van encounters a couple hitches… one bump seems to knock something loose and the mental pressure on Fitz suddenly eases. "Theta waves!" Jericho calls over, still busy. "Jammable but I don't have a handy transmitter."

***

May takes a breath as Jericho bisects the one she'd been fighting, and then she promptly returns the favor by offing the other guardian's head at the pass. BUtterfly swords make excellent scissors when wielded correctly. It's probably a good thing that Simmons and Fitz were far enough to not see that.

***

It probably is a good thing FitzSimmons were a distance from May when she did that. On hearing Jericho's call, Simmons frowns "Wait… just give me a minute …" she puts her side of the object on the ground… and rummages in that duffel bag of hers, pulling out a small device of her own. "Will this do it?" Flicking the device on, the young biochem will flick through different frequencies to see if those Theta waves can be blocked.

***

Jericho gives May a grateful nod before folding his blade back up again and moving toward the back where… ah that's better. The jamming shuts the device's field down. "Much better… well, okay. So as you can see… this is fairly advanced and unusual tech. I'm hoping you can do something with it. It interfaces with… sorta weird energy."

***

"Do these devices amplify that energy, drain it, what?" Because if those things drain weird energy, then May wants them. All of the. And she wants them moved to Metropolis immediately. She leads the way toward where Simmons has a jammer functioning and Fitz is likely pfutzing with the device. "Now what?"

***

Jemma is currently pulling stuff out of her duffel bag. "Ah, that's what I'm looking for. Fitz, give me some room, please." and she tapes the transmitter to the device. "That leaves my hands free to help." She blinks at Mays question "We take it back to the lab and see how we can harness it of course." Fitz's preoccuption with the device gets an amused look… "That's if we can get Fitz to leave it alone, right now."

***

"I suggest you power it down first. Actually let me…" Jericho's helped take apart a few of these things. Without his sword even. It's helpful, having scientist friends on a space ship. He reaches over, opens a panel and feels around until he finds the juncture that seems to connect the power source to the device's computer and pulls it loose.

"I do hope you can make some progress on it. Maybe use it for something productive… and if you learn anything interesting about the device itself…" He glances up to May now, since it'd have to come through her. "That'd be good to know. Anyway, I should get clear. May, thanks for coming along, that might have been bad."
