Late afternoon and Jemma is in the R&D Lab, working on yet another of her projects. Hair pulled back into a ponytail, lab coat and safety goggles on. She looks a little a pre-occupied, potentially worried as she looks up from microscope for a few minutes and then back into it.

A series of glass slides, those used under a microscope, are laid out to one side of her and on the other a notebook. Every so often the young biochem looks to the side and writes something down.

***

Melinda May is just returning from another of those 'puddle jump' transport jobs so is in her typical SHIELD mission attire. Major downside to working for SHIELD: Transports are not grounded by something as insignificant as weather.

***

Hunter has been off, a mission best done quietly, and is returning from radio silence now. His bag over his shoulder is heavy but he moves easily, heading through the lab en route to his room here. "Hey Simmons." The light greeting in his British accent comes with that charming lopsided grin. "May." A more formal greeting but his grin widens, as he leans against one of Simmon's machines, folding his arms, the bag left over his shoulder. "What's new?"

***

Simmons looks up from the microscope as May and Hunter enter and frowns as Hunter leans against one her beloved pieces of equipment. "Agent May, Mr Hunter" she nods to the two and looks between them. Safety googles still safely on her face. "You haven't heard the news about Agent Morse then? It's so worrying."

***

The only visible reaction May gives is brief furrow of her brow. "What news?" She's focused on Simmons, though any overt reaction from Hunter will definitely be noticed.

***

Hunter's grin stays on his face, somehow leaving the rest of his face behind, and he goes utterly still, just for an instant before he replies, casually, "No? Is she messing with Hawkeye again or something?" A joke, for certain, but his gaze rests on Simmons, steadily.

***

"Hawkeye?" Simmons frowns at the question "Not that I know of." she sighs "You've both been out of the Triskelian for a few days, then? I'll start with what I know then." as she begins to explain "Agent Morse was investigating a chapter of the Latin Kings down in Bedford-Stuyvesant. She discovered a mercenary called Domino and they got into a gun fight. She got shot." Jemma pauses and looks between the two, waiting to see if she can continue.

***

Melinda May somehow manages to go all stormcloud ANGRY without so much as shifting her facial expression. "Domino." She just said the name like she's been given the name of public enemy number one along with the okay to take said person down.

***

The sound of Hunter's bag hitting the floor is followed by two rapid steps that take him to Simmon's side, his hands lifting to grab at her shoulders. "Is she hurt? Where is she?" The urgency and intensity is matched only by the loss of that grin, the paling of his face, May's response lost to him to the faint buzzing in his ears.

***

Mays response is lost to Simmons as Hunter advances on her and she takes an involuntary step back but still allows him to grab her shoulders. "Yes, she's hurt. Badly." Simmons might be babbling right about now "She took two gun wounds to the stomach but…" she looks at Hunter, a little scared. "There was a lot of contaminants in the air, cocaine at least, and she's not in a good way." Simmons is trying to get the information out as quickly as possible.

***

Melinda May steps forward at that to bodily separate Hunter from Simmons. She'll be less than gentle with the former mercenary if he doesn't step back readily enough on his own. "Hunter. Back up. Now."

***

One moment Hunter is holding Simmon's shoulders, his face pale, and then - at her words - his hands drop, his face goes white under the tan and the stubble, and he stares down at her for a long moment. Then when May steps forward, he gives her a look that he has never given anyone, pain turning to fury, bubbling out over the control, just for an instant before he steps away, turning on his heel, a curse ringing in the air. "Where is she?"

***

May's com goes off. "May it's Trent. I'm at the front door. Send someone down to escort me to wherever you are? I need to talk to you. Now." He's got no idea what's going on in there… and for him to come to the Tri, something must be wrong indeed.

***

Simmons is just pale and steps back further bumping into a piece of equipment behind her, her movement arrested. "In the med bay but…" Her eyes cut from Hunter to May, trying to deliver a message to the quiet agent "She's in a medically induced coma. They're trying to work out how to save her life… it's not good." Biting her bottom lip, the young Brit looks back to Hunter "I'm so sorry…"

***

Melinda May turns to start after Hunter, but that's when her comm goes off. She manages somehow to not curse, and looks at Simmons while tilting her head toward Hunter. Don't let him go there alone. "I'll be right back." With that, she turns and does that 'walking but doing so at nearly running speed' thing to get to the Triskelion's main entrance.

***

Hunter has spun, his hand lifted and then slammed against a table, leaving a dent in it, before he turns, literally running towards the med bay, leaving his bag on the floor of the lab, leaving any thoughts of Simmons or May behind him. Several people in his way just get shoved out of the way, a man determined to get there now, to see it for his own eyes. Not the actions of an uninvolved man…

***

Jericho's waiting quietly near the front desk when May comes not-quite-running up. "Hey May, thanks for- wait, you okay? Something's wrong, what is it?" The hacker's known May for a while now and he's got a decent sense for when things are and aren't okay with her.

***

Jemma jumps as Hunter slams his hand down and then scurries after him "Mr Hunter… wait…" rushing as fast as she can to slip in front of him "Please, wait for Agent May" her hands up in front of her, palms out… "You may not get in, in this state."

***

Melinda May almost doesn't slow down as she uses her ID to get Trent through security. "Keep up, Trent. I might need your help." She explains tersely while leading him back toward where she saw Simmons and Hunter last. "Agent Morse took a bad hit. Simmone just told Hunter and he's not dealing with it well." Ah, May. The queen of understatement.

***

Hunter isn't stopping for hell, high water or wild horses, let alone a polite scientist type, and she just is pushed aside, none too gently, in the mad charge towards the med bay, his eyes wild, his face utterly white, starkly written pain in his face at the thought of Bobbi hurt.

***

"In that case," says Jericho as he jogs behind May. "I'm sorry for being about to make your night worse but it can wait until whatever you've got is contained." He knows Hunter. The man's a good operative but not detached. Not at all that. So he believes something bad could be up.

***

Jemma stumbles as Hunter pushes her aside, nearly falling and then hitting the wall hard "Ow…" she mutters "That's going to bruise." Her safety goggles are no longer "safely" on her face, being pushed askew as she fell. "Please. Mr Hunter." Her ponytail falling loose, Simmons moves after the determined man "You really need to wait…"

***

Melinda May rounds a corner just in time to see Hunter barrelling away and Simmons up against a wall where she was pushed. "Damnit." She breaks into a full run after the man, aiming to stop him before he goes 'Hunter SMASH' all over Medical. If necessary, she'll put him down hard to get him to stop.

***

Nope, not waiting for a polite request, the man is barreling towards the med bay, without another thought but Bobbi in his head, and May on his heels isn't even noticed. Until the moment she grabs his arm, and he spins, lifting a fist. Then, suddenly, he is down on the floor, with May pinning him there. The cursing she gets is somehow entirely British, and definitely impolite, with a disregard for his arm as he fights the hold.

***

Jericho slows long enough to help Simmons up to her feet and then goes running after May, releived when he rounds a corner and sees her swing Hunter to the floor. And then he starts fighting. Oh boy. "Hunter! Hey!" He's just trying to get the man's attention. Snap him out of it. But his traces light up blue as he powers up his strength subroutines and that harmonic humming fills the air. He'll help if he has to. Deciseively.

***

Simmons accepts Jericho's help and hangs back. She'll let May and Jericho deal with the larger agent. Scrubbing her hands together, the young scientist looks on in abject horror. "Please. Mr Hunter. We can get you in there, but must be calm."

***

Melinda May plants a knee in Hunter's back between his shoulderblades then uses her free hand to knock his head against the floor only firmly enough to get his attention, not enough to really injure him. "HEY. If you don't calm down RIGHT NOW, I'll have Security throw you in the brig. Now I know you want to go check on Morse, but storming in there like a lunatic is NOT going to get you there. Get me, English?"

***

"Bloody well let me up!" The yell echoes through the building, and he is going to dislocate that arm before he stops fighting May to get to Bobbi's side. Having his head banged against the floor seems to get his attention however, the yelling stopping and he replies, stiffly, stifling the fury, "I'm calm. May, I will kill you if you don't get off me and let me see her. Right now." That is a growl, but calmer.

***

"May, let me." Jericho reaches down and graps Hunters jacket, shirt, collar and the scruff of his neck in a big bunched handful and nods to the other agent. Once she eases up he stands straight and rather efortlessly holds Hunter up above the ground like a small animal.

"There. You're up. Happy?" The hacker gets wanting to go right now to see someone you care about, which he's guessing is the case with 'Agent Morse' whomever she is. He honestly does. He's not sure he wouldn't be doing the same were the roles reversed. The urge to be there, to do something - anything - is powerful. But he also knows that there are occasions when that urge is… unhelpful.

***

Jemma stays out of the way and blinks as Jericho holds Hunter up. "I might just head back to my lab now." It's safe there "and see about fixing the dent in the table." She takes a few paces backwards.

***

"I'd like to see you try," May mutters lowly enough that likely only Hunter heard her, but she lets go of his arm and moves out of the way as Jericho picks the man up like a toy or a small child. "Medical's this way." Yes, she'll quite calmly lead THIS crazy procession down the hall if that's what it takes to get Hunter there without making any MORE of a ruckus. "Simmons, with me." Oh no, chickie-poo, you do NOT get to flee that easily. Someone has to be there to explain the medical technobabble.

***

Hunter is snarling, giving Jericho a look that speaks to his state of mind, seeing the man as standing between Bobbi and him. "Let me GO!" A snarl in itself, but he doesn't lash out, containing his temper. When May starts towards the med bay, Jericho at least can see the glint of fury in Hunter's eyes, the moments passing too slowly for him, too fast for his dreads for Bobbi.

***

Jericho is not, to be clear, going to carry Hunter the whole way there. Even most of the way there. He's quite willing to set the man down and walk behind him. Of course, they'll be doing this dance again if it gets out of hand again. He doesn't bother saying 'you're not thinking clearly'. Because, of course, he's not and no one who isn't ever responds well to that.

***

Simmons nearly got out of there but at Mays instruction she sighs and follows along. "Yes Agent May." She's not talking to Hunter or Jericho just yet.

***

Melinda May leads the way into Medical and makes all the doctors and nurses back the heck off by glaring at them. Just TRY to stop her. Well, until she realizes she doesn't know where in where Morse is here. So she snags the first person she sees with scrubs. "He," she indicates Hunter, "needs to see Agent Morse. Now."

***

Hunter is quiet, but the tension in his body, in every nonverbal sign, is going to speak to the medics, and all around him. When the staffer silently points towards Bobbi, he walks across the room, almost hesitating at the sight of her, at the sight of the tubes, all of the …medical stuff. He stops at the bed, lifting a hand to touch her cheek, his thumb brushing across her skin. The expression on his face says it all, for once all of his emotions on view, the joking vanished. He reaches for her hand, lifting it to hold it between his. Apparently he is staying put.

***

Jericho watches quietly. He's never met Agent Morse but he's seen the look on Hunter's face a hundred times in a hundred field hospitals in places he can't officially admit to ever having been. "Do you want the bad news now or later?" He murmurs to May.

***

At least the medical staff didn't argue. Simmons slips into medical and leans against a wall, just watching. "Bad news, Jericho?" she really doesn't seem surprised.

***

Melinda May watches Hunter for a moment, then turns to Jericho and nods before leading him back over to where Simmons is waiting. "Bad news now, please." Because really. There's not much that could make this day worse.

***

Hunter lifts that hand, kisses it, and he leans over to give her a kiss on the forehead. Then he turns, just walking towards the door, his eyes almost blind, not seeing them, nor the room. There isn't a hint of any recognition that there might be anything else that matters.

***

Jericho watches Hunter quietly for a long moment before half turning from him, leaving him a bit of privacy. "I traced a hack in MilStar today to HYDRA. Really good, really subtle work." May and Simmons should be aware that MilStar is THE GPS system. The DOD, Military GPS system. The network is incredibly valuable to… er… everyone. Everyone. Well, everyone who's in good with the US. Like the UN. And SHIELD. "Someone's been culling navigational and positional data on GPS linked assets for months." Which means, potentially, that someone in HYDRA has a lot of information on SHIELD movement patterns.

"You see why I didn't want to mention this on air."

***

Simmons winces a little as her arm touches the wall. Tracking Hunters journey to the door, she bites her lip and listens as Jericho speaks. Finally, she removes her goggles and holds them in a hand as she considers the information provided "Well that's just wonderful, isn't it."

***

Melinda May looks at Jericho with that 'this is going to be unpleasant news to share' hint of expression. "Fury needs to know about this. Immediately." But then Hunter starts past them in that distant way, and she simply snakes out a hand to snag him by the arm. Again. "Hunter. Where are you going?"

***

Hunter stops, turning his head, looking at May blindly, blankly. Then he shakes his head, the reply hoarse, as if he hasn't spoken for an age, "To kill Domino." A simple reply, in a tone that suggests the question was, frankly, stupid, the answer obvious.

***

Still traced out Jericho turns Hunter around and points him back at Morse. "Killing Domino doesn't help her. Stick around to be nearby or do something that will." He knows only to will that if Morse does die, well, bad as Hunter is taking it, he'd likely not forgive himself for not being there.

Domino is a name he's familiar with but he'll file that away to ask about later.

"Yeah, Fury does. That's why I came striaght to you. Here's the really bad part: I don't know how they did it. And I don't dare start doing the kind of poking around in MilStar that it'd take to find out. I'd get noticed. And that'd be bad." He'll hack anything if he thinks he has to, but he prefers to be subtle. Brute force is great but in the hacking world its the court of last resort.

"Stay on your toes May. I don't know what they've got and I can easily imagine what they've been able to infer from all that data." He glances over to Simmons. "At least we know now how they found the Bus a couple weeks back."

***

Simmons smiles very sadly at Hunter "I'm sorry I dropped that news the way I did." She's not sure it could have been any differently though.

Nodding slowly to Jericho, and then looking to May, she looks concerned "I suppose it does. And if you don't know how they did it and are concerned we're going to need another approach, aren't we?" Glancing between them all, she shrugs "I really need to get back to the lab, I've left an experiment running."

***

Jericho watches Simmons go and sighs, giving Hunter another glance. May doesn't need to be worried about this guy going off half cocked right now. Not with the news he just dropped. "Come on you. You need a drink. Or six." He turns and starts to escort the man out by the arm. Don't argue with him right now. He could throw cars like this.

"Care to walk us out May? Then you can let the old man know the bad news. I'll do what I can on my end…" He glances back toward Morse as they exit. "But it seems like things are pretty busy here already…"
