Fenris had to recover his Forge. Which thankfully doesn't actually require fire, though it does put on quite a light show. But now he's got it back and he's working - slowly - on something. The Old Wolf is in the garage of his Brooklyn home, laboring over what looks like a small, round table, but made of a solid pillar of stone and metal and scribed with runes. He works with a hammer and every time he strikes the flat surface, multicolored sparks fly up. A small, flat band of metal is slowly taking shape as he hammers it out fine enough to begin to manipulate it into a small chain.

***

Charlie wasn't there for long really, though she is there now over sitting on the edge of one of the tables watching you work. Her legs slowly kicking back and forth. The nice part of the necklace you gave her is that her entrance is utterly magically silent now. Then again you can probably hear her breathing even if she is downwind.

***

At length the chain takes shape and Fenris attaches the seemingly delicate looking thing to a pointed crystal on one end and a small disc on the other. Only then does he look up and smile over to Misfit. "Ah, hello there. I was wondering when you'd be by again."

The Old Wolf lays the hammer aside and the runes on the forge die down. "Interesting, is it not? I've not created anything magical like that in some centuries."

***

Charlie smiles encouragingly there. She smells faintly of Coyote when Fenris manages to get close enough for that without the heat of the forge pressing air away. Well if it even has heart. Darn magic Forges. "It is very pretty… I didn't know you made things like …well magic things." she pauses "Can you teach me how to make magic batarangs that cut through eeeevil?"

***

"Probably." Fenris smiles. "It's just a manner of 'charging' an item with energy. Though you may not want it to cut through 'evil'. Evil loves difinitions and if you frame the spell wrong you get batarangs that can't cut through when you need them to because of a technicality." Enchanted items are easy. The thing he's holding… a bit less easy.

There's several similar items laying nearby. All have different colored stones or gems at the end. One of them starts to tremble. The one with the ruby on the tip.

***

Charlie stays on her table perch watching Fenris not the items there. She definitely seems to like Fenris, especially after he worked a forge. Mmmhm. "Cool. I definitely need weapons that hurt supernaturals.. or maybe if I could chaos charge my batarangs or fists" she shakes a fist.

***

"Fists would be easy." Fenris notes. "It'd be a simple matter of enchanting boots or gloves to tap your natural magical charge when you strike. However since your natural charge is chaos magic, we may want to hold off on that until you've learned a bit more, or you could end up doing all kinds of unexpected things." He peers down at the item trembling on the table and picks it up. The ruby tip immediately stretches to the end of the chain and points and Charlie.

"Well… that was faster than expected." The Old Wolf murmurs.

***

Charlie considers this "What is the worst that could happen punching bad guys with chaos enfused gloves?" she head tilts. What is the worst that can happen indeed, bam poof bunny.. pow poof elephant.. or worse. Charlie leans forward to peer at the item in your hand there. "Okay… I like the color but whats it doing?"

***

"Well, you could break Physics for starters and experience 'recoil' from your own punches. At very disproportionate rates." Imagine punching a wall and the 'opposing force' hurling you across the street. "Chaos magic is unpredictable." Just like someone Fenris knows. Though that doesn't seem to bother him at all.

"Well, this is a Ley Pendulum and it seems to be indicating that it likes you. In broad terms." He looks up, considering Charlie very carefully. "It's part of a project I'm working on, assembling a group of people to help me keep an eye on magical disturbances and other things that should not be. These items are intended to make that job easier and they choose their bearers, to a certain extent." There's a short pause. "Mmmm… well, are you possibly interested in that kind of thing?"

***

Charlie grins crookedly "Ley Pendulum.. like Ley Lines?" she knows video game lore if nothing else, and she has somewhat been paying attention to magic lessons. "Will you be on this team and this mean we will be spending even more time together Jedi Master to my Padawan?" also she has been watching Star Wars Rebels a lot. "Because that sounds pretty awesome… though red again.. I mean I like blues and blacks so this is wierd." deep down though she doesn't aw well mental repaving in action.

***

"Something to do with your magic I suspect." Fenris says examining the pendulum for a moment before offering it out to Charlie. "To answer your question, I'll be available for advice and to help myself, yes. And yes this will mean working together more and in your particular case, teaching you more." Though that's just about magic in general and less about the Ley Pendulum. He doesn't mind though. Fenris enjoys teaching the chaos muppet and her company.

"And yes, like Ley Lines. There's a network that runs around he world. Amongst other things this does, it allows for teleportation along ley lines and communication along the same. The first is less useful for you, though you may still find it so. It's harder to ward out, for one thing."

***

Charlie reaches out to accept the pendant. Wait PEndalum. She holds it up peering into the ruby crystal on the end "is this a giant ruby or just some sort of quartz?" curious. Then she looks up to you and smiles "Cool I want more magic lessons… also.. I haven't run into anywhere I can't bounce yet. I mean I suppose I may eventually right?"

***

"Well your 'bouncing' is quite potent actually. It'd be hard to ward against that. Easier to ward against you. A spell excluding Chaos magic would be like running into a wall." It's like a filter. Fenris is familiar with the spellwork. Sometimes it's used to try to exclude him. "Ley Line teleportation is more limited - it can only be done along the ley line network - but because you merge with it temporarily, you can only be excluded if someone has gone to the trouble of shutting Ley energy out… which is hard and mostly unnecessary. Those pendulums also channel the power of the Ley network and enhance the bearers at times of great need." And generally only then though long term bearers have been known to sometimes develop other abilities.

"And I'd be happy to keep teaching you." The Old Wolf smiles. "Even if you didn't want that pendulum."

***

The chaos young woman, aka muppet, squints getting a little cross eyed at the red gem in the pendulum. "Oh no I want to help out and do it… and I appreciate that Fuzzywoof." she grins at you. "I want to keep learning from you… I need to learn a lot about channeling chaos magic so it doesn't cause me to blow up when I punch someone with magic gloves."

***

"Or turn them into a frog. Or a lion. Or a demonic monstrosity from the nether regions. Or strip his soul. Or yours." The list is literally endless, but Fenris is grinning. "And yes, that will take some time. Having a Pendulum may actually help since you'll get to see a bit how it works with non chaotic magic." And at least the basic principles carry over. "Those won't break. Well, unless someone with specialized equipment tries to break them. And using them isn't hard."

***

Charlie blows on the pendulum just to see if it reacts at all. Science! Or well something. She grins to you "Okay I need to learn how to punch people into animals.. bam poof Newt!" she laughs and looks curious "Do you wear these things as necklaces or something?"

***

"Keeping it on you will do. They make kind of inconvenient necklaces and you need them loose when you're using them to point at things." They're good at finding magical disturabaces. And ley lines, if you happen to not be able to see them. "They coil up well in a pocket or pouch though." Fenris grins as he watches. The Pendulum doesn't seem to be affected by wind though now that it's in her posession it's no longer pointing at her. Instead it's pointing slightly in the direction of the garage door, which happens to be the direction of the nearest ley line of any size.

***

Charlie twirls it there and then carefully tucks it into one of the many bat pouches in her belt. "Can you teach me to see Leylines.. or maybe enchant my goggles so they see into supernatural spectrums not just technological ones… technomangical?"

***

"I can yes, though teaching you to alter your senses in that manner is a bit advanced. First I'll have to teach you to 'sense' ley lines, which is much easier. Actually, the pendulum will help with this." Fenris nods to where she just stuck it. She probably won't even need to have it in her hand. "Concentrate on it. There's a charge on it you should be able to pick up. Feel it. It will probably feel like a 'tug'." The Old Wolf walks over and leans against the table next to her.

***

Charlie leans and shoulder bumps herself in against you for a moment, pausing there, then leans back and studies the environment. "Man I thought technomagic goggles would be excellent… but ok" teasing. She looks around the room and then tries to concentrate on the pendulum in her pouch and leylines. She tries t opick up the charge you are describing.

***

Fenris chuckles as he's bumped. "They would be. But rather than simply make them for you, we'll work you up to the point where you can maintain and make them yourself. Or don't need them." Either way. The tug is there. It's faint but notable, out the garage door. It's like standing in a stream and feeling the water rush by toward a big river. The closer to the river, the faster the stream and the more powerful the tug.

***

Charlie keeps up the concentration "Well that sounds good.. I mean as long as I can have magic sensing and seeing goggles…" she concentrates harder and then BLIPPOOF *pinkurple* she is gone …. wooooooshed down the leyline to god knows where …. ZZZOOOOM…

***

Fenris sighs, though it's not an annoyed one. Merely one of 'I should have seen that coming.' He opens a Way and steps through it. Charlie's likely merged with a Ley line and it can be a confusing experience though it's usually not dangerous or frightening. Still, best to go get her and bring her out. He finds himself wading through the mist like blue-white of the Ley Line itself, as he emerges through the other side. The pull is powerful here but he's experienced enough to not get swept along.

***

There is a blazing trail of .. Ruby Red and Pink/Purple swirls through that blue white mist of the leyline. Like a comet. Wow she is going very fast.

***

Well… Fenris lets himself go, kind of… dissolving into the mist and rushing after that trail. SHe'll wind up at a Nexus at this rate and… well, at best be very, very confused when he gets her back. At worst, be another species entirely when he gets her back.

***

Not.. quite.. Somewhere along the way she seperated from the leyline and went tumbling out.

Right now Charlie is wobbling around a very dark cave peering into the shadows "Ok… who was..what… bus… wooo"

The several ghouls who are watching her confused just aren't sure what the hell do to now.

***

Fenris appears about a minute later. And he's not bothering to mask his power. "Charlie?" He calls out as his eyes slowly adjust. Where is she… ah yes. There she is.

***

Charlie is threatening a Ghoul when Fenris arrives. Having thrown one right into a stalagtite "Are these things people Fenris… should I appologize or should I be worried…. also where are we?"

***

"They're ghouls. They eat people." Fenris sniffs. "Though not in a while, these ones. And… from the smell of things we're somewhere in the Sahara. I suspect Libya." He glares over at the ghoul and says something in a language much older than Charlie. 'Leave her alone. Or I'll let do what she wants to you.'

***

Charlie ever on the bright side "Awesome…. can we check out the Pyramids.. I always wanted to see them… and the Sphynx!" pause "Are there like mummies?" she does seem mildly disappointed about not being able to punch ghouls when they bolt.

***

"Libya, not Egypt." Fenris chuckles. "And yes, but not here." He sniffs the air again and gestures to Charlie. "This way. The exit shouldn't be too far. Are you hurt?" He doesn't smell blood but she was just temporarily made of pure ley energy.

***

Charlie may be a bit disorientated but if anything she seems super pumped and energized. Pure magic can do that. Well that and make you grow hooves. Luckily she is hoofless as she follows you through the cave. "Im good just dizzy… it was like a spin cycle."

***

"You passed through a nexus and a continent." Fenris laughs. "I expect you are. I'm glad to see you came out on the other end more or less human. THat doesn't always happen with an uncontrolled merging."

***

Nyx wibbles.. and wobbles a bit there "I thought big assumption human am…" she pauses "That is a big assumption that my dad was even human right. I mean people have beat around that bush with me and woof chaos magic." pause "Not like Woof like you woof but you know..woosh"

***

"Mmmmm. Well that's fair. It's possible that he wasn't. But you are at least somewhat human and…" Fenris chuckles. "At any rate, you seem to have come through unchanged and I'm glad to see that. Very much so."

***

Well Charlie seems pleased she is unchanged, at least visibly as well. She grins then wobbles and slides an arm around you for a quick hug in against you before letting go and taking lead "Me to. Glad Im not a Frog and also glad you are glad." it makes Charlie sense.

***

"Though you seem to be a bit unsteady." Fenris chuckles as she takes the lead. The cave mouth is indeed not far and opens up onto a fairly green, fairly small valley fed by a small brook. "Ah, not bad." He pokes at the local magic. He could probably teleport them back.

***

Charlie walks down and kicks a small rock into the brook. "Well… it was like the spin cycle Fenris.. I know I said that part…" she is tumbled and not dried. She walks back to you and thne slinks her arm around you "Okay… take us home.. I can't bounce you no where Mr. Wolf."

***

Fenris tears the way open and steps through. There's a brief flash of Neverwhere and then they're back in Brooklyn again. "I imgine it was." Fenris laughs. "Have a seat. It may take a bit to get… undizzy."

***

Charlie totes holds tight for that trip and then lets go and seems dizzier "Other people's tke.. teleporting I swear…" she heads for the couch and flops down onto it there. "ugn… that was exciting though!"

***

"Just stay there for a bit." Fenris chuckles, patting Charlie as she flops on the couch. "I'll get you something to eat and we can chat a bit."
