Zee hadn't come to Kane specifically, the 'our' had been for Zee's contacts and friends, of which she considered Kane both. "It's not that I don't like killing, Jes" Zee shrugs slightly "I just worry what it does to us, when we do it."

***

"Kills a part of you." The druid answers quietly. "It's not good. It's never good. Part of you has to die to make yourself into someone who can do that and you never, ever get it back." He takes a deep breath. "But sometimes it's necessary. Taking a life should always be weighed seriously. But if it really is the best thing to do, it should never be hesitated upon."

***

Jes tilts her head. "I think..it's different for me. I am a predator, I have always been one. You must kill to survive. It's the way of the world for me. I haven't just killed the animals I eat, but a monster and a few men. I don't think it killed a part of me, but I think it might have if I had let them live knowing the evil they that they were, or would do."

***

Zee looks at Kane gratefully and nods "Maybe Jes, but there's still something very human about you too." frowning at her friend, in concern and thought. "That may very well be true, that it didn't kill a part of you, but still I think you need to be mindful that it can become easy." Looking back to Kane, Zee has to agree "And yes, once you make the decision, just do it."

***

"Sometimes that's the price one pays." The Fox shrugs. The fact of life is sometimes there isn't a good decision to be made. Only a choice between bad ones. YOu take the least bad one and run with it. Kane nods to Zee, noting her thanks and smiling a little.

***

Jes seems thoughtful, considering what they've both said. "It's a lot easier to look at the world as coyote. Everything is so much simpler, and understandable. I never realized how big a place the world is before I came to the city. Or how..how many hidden depths there are in people."

***

At least this friend hasn't tried to hit Kane with a flamingo bat, hog tie him or shoot at him. That's a good start. Zee settles back and listens as they talk, there are things that Kane understands that Zee is simply to young and inexperienced to know and understand.

***

"People are like that everywhere. It just seems more complicated here because there are more of them." Or in some ways, less, actually. In a small town everyone knows everyone. In a city like this you're lucky if you know your neighbor's name. The Fox shrugs, glancing back to keep an eye on Zee.

***

"Maybe." Jes looks at Zee and moves next to her, looping an arm around her shoulders. "Are you cold? You can have my jacket.." The native american offers softly. Then she looks over at The Fox with curiousity lighting her eyes. "Zee says you are a druid. What does that mean?"

***

"I'm fine, Jes" Zee smiles as the arm is looped around her. Noting Kanes glance, Zee smiles back… she's fine, just enjoying the fact that no one is fighting, really. "I haven't told her much, Fox… you get that privilege." the young magician, grins mischieviously, she'll let him guess what she's said about him.

***

He can't really guess. Nor does he want to try. Guess what two women tell one another? Asking for trouble. "Neo-Druid. And it means that I have studied to wield the magic of the earth in a particular fashion." This is my magic. There are many like it, but this is mine.

***

"I have been learning there are different kinds of magic. Are they all something anyone can learn, or must you be born with the ability? Like a mutant, or like..like me?" Jes asks with interest.

***

"He's pretty good with it too" Zee's still grinning as he answers. She hasn't told Jes much, at all… certainly not how much she likes him. She's only told him that, a few times now.

"That's a good question, Jes" Zee frowns slightly "I was born with a magical ability, it's in my blood." Homo Magi are a parrallel development to Homo Sapiens "But I still had to learn to wield it, I still am… and I think I will for the rest of my life." Canting her head at the Druid, Zee gives him a questioning look "You learned your magic, didn't you?"

***

"The best mages are born to it." Kane affirms. He knows enough of Homo Magi to know that. Even if he couldn't say the name, most in magical circles know that certain bloodlines are special. "The rest of us never get that good. We can learn, practice, hone our talents, but we'll never attain that kind of power. Well…" The Fox shrugs, answering both Zee and Jes. "… not without some dark pacts. And yes, I learned mine."

***

"I see, then that is how I am learning to do it. Well, and the.." Jes blinks and looks aside to Zee, whom she's still hugging. She ducks her head and whispers in ear. "Are we allowed to tell him about what we are doing?"

***

"I'm not all that powerful" Zee smiles softly, it's likely she doesn't realise just how powerful her bloodline actually is. "It's the best way to learn, Jes… and …. I think we can tell him, I trust the Fox and he's been teaching me about his earth magic."

***

A bit. His earth magic makes sense. Though, oddly, watching him do it isn't hugely helpful. It's like there's no magic there. Except he clearly does supernatural things. The Fox cants his head. "Tell me what now?"

***

Jes pulls a leather string wrapped pendulum up from beneath her tunic and lets it lie over her shirt. "We were asked to help protect the earth's ley lines and given these. I had never had any magic abilities, I never believed in such a thing until I saw the wendigo. To actually be doing it.." Jes shakes her head in bemusement. "I didn't think I could. But then there I was, in Madrid with the others. It's what I've learned so far, how to travel along them."

***

The mention of the Wendigo has Zee canting her head, filing that away for later. "With all the disturbances we've been seeing in the magic, someone fairly powerful has put together a conclave" Zee explains for the Fox. "Not necessiraly magic users" in fact, as far as Zee knows at the moment, her and Charlie are the only magic users involved but she expects that will change. "but" another mischievious grin "good and true people, who will answer the call and protect…" against what, she has no idea.

"As part of the practice with the pendulum's, we were asked to use the leylines to move to Madrid… it felt very weird to me." Zee gestures to the pendulum at her hip.

***

The Fox looks at them for a while. "Wow. Those are interesting. Never seen or heard of them before. Protecting magic sounds important though, espeically given what you and I saw with Ley Lines recently Zee." Someone was messing with them. "I wish you both luck with that."

***

Jes grins at Zee saying it felt weird and then nods at the Fox. "Thank you. It sounded important to me as well." "Zee..I think you are far more powerful than you believe. You scent so very strongly of magical power. And you.." Jes hesitates. They haven't really had a chance to discuss this yet, but Zee said she trusted the Fox so.. "You were in two places at once."

***

"That's what I thought Fox and why I agreed to get involved." Zee winces slightly at Jes' statement and looks out over the rooftop "Mmmmmm, I was wasn't I?" obviously uncomfortable at the thought.

***

"Two places at once?" The Fox blinks. That's… quite a magic trick. "Do you mean actually in two palces at once or…" Why she'd need to do that is a bit beyond him though she does live an interesting life.

***

Jes hugs her friend tighter and smiles. "It's okay, Zee. You did good." She looks over to the Fox. "It was during the battle in Metropolis. We were both in the city but seperated when the Atlanteans attacked. She was on the beach fighting the main force and I was further in the city where a smaller group attacked. I texted her, not knowing where she was and then suddenly she was there with me, but..it wasn't her, exactly. I could tell. When the battle was over she just, was gone."

***

Zee looks even more uncomfortable at the explanation "I don't know the answer to the question, Fox. I just wanted to go help Jes, when I got the text and then there was another me." Still looking over the city, Zee glances at Jes "She threw magic too, didn't she? I felt it."

***

The Fox looks over at Zee. "Tell me that was an accident or an illusion." Because actually breaking reality like that should be A) close to impossible and B) really really dangerous if attempted. He likes Zee. He'd rather not see her blow herself up or drive herself insane.

***

"She was real enough, the her that was with me, and yes did magic." Jes frown at both of them. If this is dangerous for Zee.. "I don't think she meant to, she just, wanted very strongly to be able to help me andknew she couldn't leave the battle there."

***

Zee continues to look out over the city and folds her arms over her chest, still looking uncomfortable "An accident, Fox. I don't know how I did it and I know that type of thing can't be good…. it worries me. I've been pushing myself fairly hard lately."

***

"I see." The Fox shakes his head. "I"d say be careful but I doubt you need the warning somehow." Zee should be familiar enough with the dangers of such a thing. At least she didn't do it on purpose which means she isn't trying to do it. Jes gets a worried shrug as they keep walking.

***

Jes hadn't realized it was such a dangerous thing, he can probably tell from the look on her face. She kisses the top of Zee's head. "It'll be okay. We'll just have to be more careful." She murmurs. "Maybe there's something about it in one of those books in the library. How to prevent it." Jes stops rather suddenly and looks around. She closes her eyes and tilts her head back, her nostrils flaring. After a moment she opens them and walks over to the edge of the building, looking downwards.

***

Nodding to the Fox, Zee continues to hug herself. "That, on top of taking the backlash from portalling a deathcurse…" she shakes her head "My powers are … I don't know … growing stronger. I've got to learn to control them better." Because the episode with the death curse left her exhausted and a massive headache.

Jes' affection and comments gets a nod "Maybe. And maybe I need to practice more too." Watching as the Coyote walks and scents, Zee cants her head and waits to see what the young woman does.

***

"That can be arranged, Zee. Should be fairly simple to-" The Fox cuts off and glances over to Jesana. "What is it?"

The vigilante tenses up, instantly on alert. Things have been busy and tense here for a long while now and news is often bad.

***

Jes growls softly. "The death curse thing was very frightening. I do not wish to anger your demon…friend. But I did Not like him taking you to that place. I couldn't let you go alone, and I didn't mean to put you in more danger." She frowns down at the street and walks along the side of the building for several feet before turning and seeing the Fox's tense posture. "Not an immediate danger. But someone walking by down there smells very strongly of those drugs in the HYDRA factory."

***

Zee sighs "Yes it was, I wasn't sure the best way to handle it. But Jes, it's all he knows and he was looking out for me." Sort of… probably taking care of one of Illyana's but she's not going to mention that.

The Fox gets a look at the cut off sentence and then Jes gets her full attention. Still hugging herself, Zee walks over to her friend and looks down at the street "That doesn't really surprise me… they were being made for some purpose."

***

The Fox glances over at Jes and Zee. He's going to pretend that Jes didn't just say Zee consorts with demons. Just… he didn't hear that. The news of the drug factory (he hadn't been there) gets a quirked eyebrow and the druid picks a bolt out of his quiver and loads it into his crossbow. There's a thwip and moments later the bolt wings toward the only person on the street below. Rather than harming, the bolt just bounces lightly of clothing with much less impact than is should have. But a small chunk of the tip breaks off and embeds itself in the victim's clothing. "There… we'll track him."

***

Jes turns and claps him on the shoulder. "Oh that is wonderful. I have been considering raiding one of my fathers stashes for supplies..tracking devices could be so helpful..but if the wrong one realises I've been there..or is watching them incase I show up.." Jes shrugs. "It hasn't seemed worth the risk yet."

***

Zee does and Kane just has to ask her about it. "How long does the tracker last, Fox?" She's assuming they're going to be tracking now. "Is that what was in the ironworks, Jes?" Zee doesn't remember a lot past battling the suits and disabling the death curse. She certainly hadn't been paying attention to what was in the Iron Works.

Hearing Jes talking about raiding her fathers stash for supplies, Zee frowns "Whoa, hang on. What supplies do you need? Maybe I can help you find them elsewhere…" like buying them.

***

The Fox takes a charm of bone and crushes it, calling a small murder of spectral ravens. One of them swoops down to recover the rest of the bolt and return it to him. "Long as the splinter of the head doesn't get dislodged. Long enough, I'm sure." He says, glancing back to see what the other two are taking about.

***

"Um. Well..there would be alot of weapons there. Tracking devices, listening devices, computers, cash. Things mercenaries need. I know there's a storage facility at port newark." "I don't know what the iron works was, Zee. Your friend Jericho found that place." Jes frowns and then gives a troubled sigh. "I've been thinking about going for another reason. My other dad, the werewolf. I know he loves Jon despite the fact he's incapable of returning the emotion. But he'd never join something like HYDRA willingly. And he wouldn't let Jon give me to them. For him to be hunting me like this..something had to have happened."

***

Zee watches the murder of ravens and shakes her head as they fly off. Kane should be able to hear the conversation "If they have stashes like these, I'm sure they can be raided and destroyed and put a dent in some of HYDRA's plans." Looking concerned as Jes continues the story, Zee nods slowly "Jes, we have people with resources that can find these things out. Look at what Jericho's found for you already." Zee does not thinking raiding a stash on their own (because Jes won't be going alone) is a good idea at all. Glancing to The Fox she hopes he's heard enough to give her some support…

***

"Stealing from Mercenaries is usually ill advised unless you're prepared to fight a small war." The Fox is betting Jesana isn't. "Anyway, I should be getting back to patrolling. Just to make sure everything's okay on the other end of town." He usually takes it all the way out to the narrows to make sure nothing is hiding there. Mostly relies on tipoffs actually but the show of presence doesn't hurt. "Are you two…?"

***

"There's also that." Jes half grins at him. "Don't worry Zee, I said I considered it, not I want to do it. I'm not putting you at risk for that, its not worth it." "We can get back alright." She nods to the Fox and holds out her hand. "It was nice to meet you." Her expression is honest. So far he's the most normal person she's met that Zee knows. Well, aside from Fenris. Whos not really normal but..someone she understands at least. So far.

***

Zee grins at Jes "We're going to go with him." The Fox gets a saucy look "You never know what trouble he'll get into without me, and now you, to watch his back." That's not true, but she likes to tease him regardless. "Lead on Fox, and we'll follow, I suppose we're following your Ravens?"

***

"Try to keep up." The Fox teases and fishes another charm out. This one doesn't seem to do much… until he moves, now fluid and graceful as he parkours across the rooftops. Justbecause they're patrolling doesn't mean it can't be a little fun.
